Description:
Vuk, the little fox lives happily among his many siblings in their parents' home. As he is livelier and snappier than the others, one day he wanders into the forest alone. As soon as he arrives home, he discovers that his whole family has disappeared. Only later, he comes to know that the responsible are the feared humans, the hunters (called among animals the 'bare-skins'). But luckily for Vuk, his old uncle Karak starts to patronize him, and the seasoned elder brings Vuk up to be the most cunning and successful fox in the forest.

This right here, is the English dub of the movie. Originally released in 1987 by Celebrity Home Entertainment. and later down the line by Hal Roach Studios and Just for Kids video. This here was the only way you could see the movie was on VHS, but thanks to the internet a lot of people discovered another version of the movie. I personally enjoyed the Hungarian dub more but it's interesting seeing how they dubbed the movie.

Vuk belongs to Pannónia Filmstúdió.

00:00:07It was springtime, and bursts of color began to fill the forest, as thousands of new lives were beginning.
00:00:17The familiar smells of the season were in the air, as the setting sun welcomed in the night.
00:00:25Deep in the forest, in the hollow of a thick old tree, a new family of foxes played together.
00:00:37Look, dear, aren't they sweet?
00:00:39Yes, they are. I'm so proud of our new little ones. And you're such a wonderful mother.
00:00:45It's so easy with you as their father, darling. Oh, look at that little rascal.
00:00:50Ha, ha, he's a frisky one. He's very much like his granddad.
00:00:54Uh-huh, you're right. He's just like him. And I'll bet he'll be a good hunter, too. Let's call him
00:01:00Vic, like his grandfather.
00:01:02Vic? If I can see it, I can catch it. That's what he always used to say, old granddad.
00:01:08And one day, when you grow up, you'll be able to catch what you see, too.
00:01:13Oh! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:01:33Hey, let go of my ear. That hurts. Let it go.
00:01:38Now, don't be naughty.
00:01:39But he's always biting my ears, Ma.
00:01:41Thanks a lot. Now she's going to send us to bed.
00:01:43All right, be quiet.
00:01:44It's not my fault, Ma. It's him.
00:01:48Betty time, children. It's late and you have to get your rest.
00:01:52Vic, dear, you have to go to sleep.
00:01:55Oh, Mom. You're always making us go to sleep.
00:01:59That's enough now. Go to bed, little Vic, so father can go out hunting.
00:02:05Well, off I go, then.
00:02:07At their age, as soon as they wake up, they'll be asking for food.
00:02:11Well, I'll be back by morning. What would you like, a rooster or a duck?
00:02:14A duck again!
00:02:15How about a fish?
00:02:17I'm sure we'll appreciate whatever your daddy can get.
00:02:19The main thing is that he returns home safe and sound.
00:02:23Well, why wouldn't he?
00:02:24Your father is going hunting and hunting is very...
00:02:27It's very late, dear. Go to sleep.
00:02:29But, Ma, I want to know.
00:02:30Hunting is very dangerous, my boy.
00:02:32And your father will teach you that soon.
00:02:35Take care out there, Khan. I'll miss you.
00:02:38Don't worry about me. Before you know it, I'll be back with food.
00:02:41If hunting can be dangerous...
00:02:46I'd better keep an eye on him.
00:02:50Karoo, karoo!
00:02:51Oop!
00:02:54Call! Call! Call!
00:02:56Call! A fox! A fox!
00:02:57Red alert!
00:02:58Call!
00:02:58If you don't cut that out and shut up, you'll be sorry.
00:03:01Yeah, you heard what he said. Cut it out and shut up!
00:03:03Hey, why should I, huh? You little jerk.
00:03:07Hey, yeah, I'm a little, but I'm not a jerk. Right, Dad?
00:03:10What are you doing here?
00:03:12Uh, well, I want to help you to hunt.
00:03:14What?
00:03:15It's dangerous out here. Go home.
00:03:17Huh? A jerk's gonna hunt? Little laugh.
00:03:20I dare you to climb down.
00:03:22That's what they call a bird, Vic.
00:03:24And he can't climb down, but he can fly away.
00:03:28Okay, I can take a hint.
00:03:30Hey, what's that he's doing, Dad?
00:03:32Dad? That's called flying.
00:03:34Can I fly like that?
00:03:35No, you can't. So you trot along home, son.
00:03:38I'd like to stay, Dad. I'd like to help.
00:03:40I know you would. And you'll have your chance another time.
00:03:44Oh, please let me come along.
00:03:45I'm not gonna say it again. Go home.
00:03:49Where does he get these ideas?
00:03:52He's just like his granddad, all right.
00:03:54If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:03:56Just like granddad.
00:03:58Oh, I wish he'd let me go hunting.
00:04:01Dad has all the fun, and he makes me go on home.
00:04:05Oh.
00:04:06Hey, look at that weird thing.
00:04:08I wonder if it's good to eat.
00:04:12If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:04:16If I jump like him, he'll think I'm whatever he is.
00:04:27What's this?
00:04:28A frog fox or a fox frog?
00:04:31It jumps like a frog.
00:04:34But it's not a frog.
00:04:37It's a fox!
00:04:40Hey!
00:04:47Hey, come here.
00:04:54Oh, come on.
00:04:55You can't just stay hiding underwater forever.
00:04:58Okay.
00:04:59I'll just wait right here, and when you come up,
00:05:01I'm gonna have me a little snack.
00:05:07I want you to give me a real big cock-a-doodle-doo.
00:05:11Understand?
00:05:11It's got to be really loud.
00:05:13So, cock-a-doodle-doo, and don't worry about a thing.
00:05:16I'm on the job.
00:05:17Yeah, I crowed.
00:05:18The fox will come right here.
00:05:20I'm no dope.
00:05:21Hey, Marty.
00:05:22Listen.
00:05:23That's exactly what we're trying to do here tonight, you and me.
00:05:26You let go with one of your cock-a-doodle-doos,
00:05:29and when he hears you, he'll come and I'll nab him.
00:05:31I'm afraid he'll eat us.
00:05:35He's as dumb as they come.
00:05:37Look, you dummy.
00:05:38I'll be right here.
00:05:40You'll be okay.
00:05:41Don't worry.
00:05:42Got it?
00:05:44No?
00:05:45I guess I'll have to spell it out for him.
00:05:47I'll just watch out, and when he gets here, it's easy.
00:05:51I'll just catch him.
00:05:52Now do it.
00:05:54Ah!
00:05:56No, no, not like that.
00:05:58Your voice, it sounds so shrill.
00:06:01It sounds like you suspect something.
00:06:04Me?
00:06:05I don't get it.
00:06:06What should I suspect?
00:06:07Huh?
00:06:08That's not the point.
00:06:09Now do it.
00:06:10Real fierce and strong.
00:06:12Go on.
00:06:12Okay.
00:06:13I've got it.
00:06:15Ah!
00:06:17Ah!
00:06:17Ah!
00:06:18Ah!
00:06:18How about that?
00:06:19It's not bad for a start.
00:06:21Ah!
00:06:22Ah!
00:06:23Ah!
00:06:23Ah!
00:06:24Ah!
00:06:24Ah!
00:06:24Ah!
00:06:24Ah!
00:06:25I'm so proud of him.
00:06:29My Marty.
00:06:30I hope you're not serious about that my Marty stuff.
00:06:33I wouldn't be so sure about that.
00:06:35So get it straight.
00:06:36He's my Marty, and boy, what a voice.
00:06:39Good, Marty.
00:06:40Keep it up like that, okay?
00:06:43Ah!
00:06:44Ah!
00:06:44Ah!
00:06:44Ah!
00:06:45That's what I call a noisy rooster.
00:06:47Ah!
00:06:47Ah!
00:06:48Ah!
00:06:48Ah!
00:06:48Ah!
00:06:49Ah!
00:06:50Ah!
00:06:51Ah!
00:06:52Ah!
00:06:52Ah!
00:06:54I'm coming to get you.
00:06:56Just keep crowing.
00:06:58Be patient.
00:07:00Never been around here before.
00:07:02I better find out if there's a foxhound.
00:07:10That rooster sounds kind of funny
00:07:12This might be a trap
00:07:13Huh?
00:07:22Yikes! He's right over there
00:07:26Calm down, just relax
00:07:32Ah, so that's what you two worked out
00:07:37My, my, a rooster and a foxhound
00:07:39What a pair of barnyard idiots
00:07:42Oh, my! Yikes!
00:07:45You stay cool, you hear? Just stay cool
00:07:48Come on, keep your eye on him
00:07:50I can't see it
00:07:52Huh?
00:07:53Oh, Martin, is he blind as well?
00:07:55Hey there, what a pair you two are
00:07:59You're a disgrace to all three animals
00:08:01Oh, I'll tear you apart, you dirty rascal
00:08:06Go get him, Barney!
00:08:08Grab him by his neck, yeah!
00:08:11Tear him apart!
00:08:15Go on a diet, you traitor
00:08:18Oh, no, here he comes
00:08:22I hope I can beat him to the river
00:08:39Go ahead and sniff all you want
00:08:41Your nose may be good, but your brain
00:08:43Well, that's another story
00:08:47It's not possible
00:08:48How could I have lost him?
00:08:50I'm sure that this is the place
00:08:51where he jumped into the river
00:08:52Go get him!
00:08:54Go get him!
00:08:55The fox got him
00:08:57My poor Marty
00:08:58He's my Martin, so shut up
00:09:00Oh, I'm a fool
00:09:02If he didn't cross the river
00:09:04Then by now, he's got Martin
00:09:06And I'm gonna look like a dumb old dog
00:09:09Extra, extra evening news
00:09:11What?
00:09:12What?
00:09:12What is it?
00:09:12Hound chases fox and
00:09:14Futs fools, Futs hound!
00:09:16I guess that nose of his isn't as good as he claims
00:09:20No good at all
00:09:21This might just teach that old idiot a lesson, huh?
00:09:25Well, he's got a nose, but he can't smell
00:09:27What a sad story
00:09:29So sad!
00:09:32Oh, the fox came back
00:09:34Now he's gone
00:09:36My darling Marty
00:09:38Our darling Marty
00:09:41Failure and a disgrace to you all
00:09:44Look who's here
00:09:45The old fox hound
00:09:46You're just who I don't need around
00:09:50I just heard about your chase with that fox a while ago
00:09:55Boy, you guys
00:09:56It wasn't me
00:09:57You must be blind
00:09:58You guys can't tell the difference between a German shepherd and a fox hound
00:10:02It wasn't me chasing that fox
00:10:04It was Carl
00:10:05You can hear him bark a mile away
00:10:08Come on
00:10:09You really saw him?
00:10:10Oh, yeah
00:10:11I'm telling you
00:10:12It was Carl
00:10:13He's a pretty dumb German shepherd
00:10:16He hasn't got half the brains you've got
00:10:19It's no wonder that the fox was able to make a fool out of Carl
00:10:23My poor Martin
00:10:24The fox came and got him
00:10:26Why did you let that killer take my darling Martin?
00:10:30I'll dry up
00:10:31Yeah, too bad he let that fox fool him
00:10:34Should have asked me to help him
00:10:35Fox hunting is really my job around here
00:10:38Of course, a smart fellow like you knows that
00:10:42Oh, he should have asked me to lend a hand
00:10:45But hey, you know what they say about Carl?
00:10:47He's just a greedy, dumb dog
00:10:49Even so, I wouldn't want to ruin the old boy's reputation
00:10:52Hey, look
00:10:53Promise you won't tell anyone
00:10:55It would be awful if the gang found out about it
00:10:57So don't tell a soul
00:10:59I can trust you, can't I?
00:11:01Well, sure
00:11:02I wouldn't tell anybody
00:11:05Trust me
00:11:06Go on, go on
00:11:07Sure, I could trust him
00:11:09But tomorrow he'll be telling everyone on the farm
00:11:11Did you hear what happened?
00:11:12To who?
00:11:13Carl
00:11:13No
00:11:14Well, he was fooled again
00:11:16By who?
00:11:16By that sly fox
00:11:18Carl was greedy
00:11:19He didn't ask the fox hound for help
00:11:21Oh, yeah
00:11:23Carl's dumb
00:11:24What do you expect from a German shepherd?
00:11:28Poor old Carl
00:11:29He's not even at home
00:11:31He's over at Dr. Smith's for his annual checkup
00:11:37What a lucky day
00:11:38A rabbit
00:11:51It's that farmer
00:11:54And his dog's here with him
00:11:55Should I scram
00:11:57Or go back for the rooster?
00:12:08Well, it's too late for the rooster
00:12:13Oh, I better split
00:12:25What have you got there, Fido?
00:12:27I was shooting at a rabbit
00:12:30Hmm
00:12:31Looks like a fox got this rooster
00:12:34Well, he must be around here somewhere
00:12:36Come on, Fido
00:12:37Let's go look for him
00:12:39It had to be a fox
00:12:40And I'll bet he lives right nearby
00:13:05Okay, I gotta go home now
00:13:07But I'll be back for you
00:13:08Because I know where you live
00:13:11I gotta go look for Pop
00:13:14It's really pretty light out
00:13:16Maybe he's already gone home
00:13:19I wonder if Dad'll give me a spanking
00:13:22Because I didn't go home right away
00:13:25Oh, I smell a hunter
00:13:27Yep, yep
00:13:37Nobody's home
00:13:38What happened?
00:13:43I wonder where they went
00:14:04I guess they're looking for me
00:14:06I wonder what's keeping them so long
00:14:08I wish they'd hurry up
00:14:11Oh, look at all those ducks
00:14:16And what's that noise?
00:14:18Is it thunder?
00:14:18Oh, help!
00:14:24A duck
00:14:25Mother will be so thrilled
00:14:27Boy, I wish you were here right now
00:14:30It's a big duck
00:14:32It's too big for me to carry alone
00:14:34And I'm not big enough to hunt by myself
00:14:36And there's no one to help
00:14:37I'm so alone
00:14:38Help
00:14:40Won't somebody help?
00:14:47Hey, young fella
00:14:48You look familiar
00:14:49What's your dad's name?
00:14:51His name is Khan
00:14:52He and Ma aren't home
00:14:54And I don't know what to do
00:14:56Come on up here, Vic
00:14:57I know your father
00:15:00Tell me how you managed to escape
00:15:02Escape?
00:15:03But I didn't escape, sir
00:15:04I, uh, just got lost
00:15:07I guess Dad and Mom are out looking for me
00:15:09I'm sure they'll show up in just a little while
00:15:12I hate to be the one to tell him
00:15:14They're not able to come get you, Vic
00:15:16Won't they ever come?
00:15:18No
00:15:19I've been sent for you, Vic
00:15:21I'm your Uncle Karak
00:15:23You're going to live with me
00:15:25You and I have some traveling to do
00:15:28Can you walk yet?
00:15:29I can walk and I can run
00:15:30But I don't know my way around very well
00:15:33Well, let's go
00:15:34I'm along, Vic
00:15:37Well, what are you waiting for?
00:15:39I have a duck
00:15:40Do we have to leave him?
00:15:42How'd you get a duck?
00:15:43I looked up
00:15:44I heard thunder
00:15:45And he landed right there
00:15:46You must be imagining things
00:15:48There's no duck there
00:15:51My nose would tell me
00:15:53If there were
00:15:54He's there
00:15:55I smell him and I can show you where I found him
00:15:58If you don't believe me, I'll show him to you
00:16:00Well, this will be a good lesson
00:16:01All right
00:16:02Show me where that duck of yours is
00:16:09Well, well
00:16:10You have a very sensitive nose there, Vic
00:16:13Just like your grandfather
00:16:14You were right all along, kid
00:16:16I smelled it from way over there
00:16:20Wow
00:16:21I just wanted to see if you could find it
00:16:24You'd better wait here
00:16:27Here's your duck
00:16:28Come and get it
00:16:38Wow
00:16:39He really has an appetite
00:16:47Are you tired yet?
00:16:50Want a rest?
00:16:51Well, come on
00:16:52Then I live right over this hill
00:16:56It's hard to climb like this
00:16:58Well, how else would you like to climb?
00:17:01With my head pointed down like this
00:17:03See?
00:17:04This is much better
00:17:06Now, how am I supposed to get over that?
00:17:08Don't worry, Vic
00:17:09Leave it to me
00:17:11Be careful, Carrick
00:17:12Promise not to drop me
00:17:15Hey, why don't you answer me?
00:17:18Did you lose your voice?
00:17:20No, Vic, I didn't
00:17:21But if I'd opened my mouth up
00:17:23You would have fallen all the way down the ravine
00:17:26Oh, I didn't even think of that
00:17:28How dumb can you get?
00:17:30Do you think I'm stupid?
00:17:32Of course not
00:17:33You've just got a lot to learn
00:17:37You want to visit your new home?
00:17:41Hey, you know what?
00:17:42What is it, little Vic?
00:17:43Well, this cave is just great
00:17:46But I do miss mom and pop
00:17:50What you need is a good rest
00:17:52I promise you'll be safe
00:17:54And no one will bother you up here
00:17:57Even the man with the thunder stick
00:17:59Has never found the place where I live
00:18:02Even that foxhound Barney
00:18:03Who works for him
00:18:04Could never find this cave
00:18:06Don't worry
00:18:07Go to sleep now
00:18:08I have some things to take care of
00:18:10Will you be hunting?
00:18:12That's right, Vic
00:18:14Why didn't you ask me what to bring back
00:18:16A rooster or a duck
00:18:17Like dad would ask us
00:18:18And then I'd answer him
00:18:19Why don't you ask me, uncle?
00:18:21I'm going hunting
00:18:22Now what should I go and get?
00:18:25A duck
00:18:26And some geese
00:18:28And some roosters
00:18:30Well, that's some list
00:18:33Sleep tight, little Vic
00:18:34Get some rest
00:18:56It's morning already
00:18:58My stomach grumbled and woke me up
00:19:00I'm hungry as usual
00:19:02I know what I'll do
00:19:04I'll go find food
00:19:06Ooh
00:19:08What a view
00:19:10Carrack
00:19:11Look
00:19:12From here
00:19:13You can see all the way
00:19:14Down in the valley
00:19:16Mmm, smells good
00:19:19Carrack
00:19:19Wake up, you lazy bones
00:19:21Wake up
00:19:22Let's go out and hunt
00:19:26Why do you sleep so much?
00:19:28Now come on and wake up
00:19:31I'm hungry
00:19:32Let's go hunting, Carrack
00:19:36Okay now, Vic
00:19:37Just be quiet
00:19:41Go back to bed
00:19:44A smart fox always hunts at night
00:19:47But I'm too excited to sleep
00:19:49And I'm all ready to go hunting
00:19:51Come on, please
00:19:53Will you take me out hunting, Uncle Carrack?
00:19:55Be quiet
00:19:56Be quiet
00:19:58I mean that
00:20:01Well, I'd better tell you a few things about hunting for your own good
00:20:07In the daytime, a fox must always sleep
00:20:11That's how a fox gathers strength
00:20:14So at night
00:20:16We'll be able to go out hunting because we are strong
00:20:20Understand?
00:20:21Yeah, but Uncle
00:20:23I'm ready to go out hunting now
00:20:25I don't want to wait until it's dark out
00:20:28Well, maybe I'm not a fox after all
00:20:31Of course you are
00:20:32I don't know where you get these ideas
00:20:35You're a silly little one
00:20:37I'm not going to tell you again
00:20:39Stop bothering me
00:20:41You understand?
00:20:42I understand
00:20:43I understand that
00:20:45It's too light and I have to wait
00:20:47Okay
00:20:55Now what?
00:20:56Go away
00:20:57It's too early
00:20:58It's light out
00:20:58Wait till it's dark
00:21:00Then I'll hunt with you
00:21:01Hey, Carrack
00:21:02Are they out to get me?
00:21:05Who's out to get you?
00:21:07I'm tired of all these questions I have to answer
00:21:12You don't have to be afraid of those birds
00:21:14They won't hurt you
00:21:15They just make a lot of racket
00:21:17I'm warning you
00:21:18One more noise out of you
00:21:20And you're not going hunting
00:21:22Okay
00:21:22I'll be very quiet
00:21:26Now what's up?
00:21:28Are you going to make noise all day long?
00:21:30Did you say something, Carrack?
00:21:32I didn't hear you well
00:21:33Could you please repeat it?
00:21:34I was saying
00:21:37I was telling you to get some sleep
00:21:39Go to sleep, Vic
00:21:40Go to sleep
00:21:42To sleep
00:21:42Sleep
00:21:43Sleep
00:21:44Maybe I am a little tired
00:21:51Go away
00:21:52I was having a nice little nap
00:21:54Wait
00:21:55Are you good to eat?
00:21:57Scared, huh?
00:21:59You know that whatever I can see
00:22:00I can't pop
00:22:02Catch
00:22:08That tastes terrible
00:22:10It's not fox food
00:22:11And something tells me
00:22:12That you wouldn't have tasted any better
00:22:14Am I tired?
00:22:19Hey
00:22:21Look at that guy
00:22:24You came along just in time
00:22:26Now I know what I'll have for dinner
00:22:27Oh, careful kid
00:22:29That rock is bad
00:22:31How can a rock
00:22:33Be big?
00:22:41Carl, Carl
00:22:45I wish I could fly
00:22:47Now what'll I do?
00:22:50Oh my
00:22:50What will become of me, Carl?
00:22:53How will I ever get up?
00:23:16What are you doing there?
00:23:19I got lost when I was hunting
00:23:23Don't be mad, Carl
00:23:25I was just, uh
00:23:27I'm not really angry with you
00:23:28Don't worry
00:23:29Thanks
00:23:30Now listen close
00:23:31It's most important that you should learn
00:23:33That a fox must be able to tolerate hunger
00:23:35No matter what
00:23:36And not risk his life stupidly
00:23:38If you're a little bit of foodie
00:23:39You see?
00:23:40You understand?
00:23:41Yes, Uncle
00:23:42Very well
00:23:43I got it
00:23:43I promised to pay attention
00:23:45About what you said
00:23:46I'll sleep in the daytime
00:23:48I'll hunt only at night time
00:23:50And I'll remember what you told me about hunger
00:23:52Only don't be mad
00:23:54I don't want you to be angry all the time
00:23:57Oh, I'm never angry very long
00:23:59And to prove it to you
00:24:01I'll tell you what
00:24:03I've decided that tonight
00:24:04You're going hunting
00:24:06Yay!
00:24:07I'm going!
00:24:07We're going!
00:24:08Yay!
00:24:09We're going hunting together for the first time
00:24:11Roasters and ducks
00:24:13All you animals
00:24:14You better watch out
00:24:15We're going to hunt
00:24:16Be quiet
00:24:17You don't want the whole wide world to know that we're going hunting
00:24:21Silence
00:24:22Silence means food, my boy
00:24:24And with silence we're able to catch our prey
00:24:27Don't forget what you've just learned
00:24:29It's a very important lesson
00:24:31I'll remember it all
00:24:32I want to learn everything
00:24:34You will
00:24:43Hello
00:24:43Now who's the hunter's best friend
00:24:46By now you must know the answer to that question
00:24:49I'm learning to hunt
00:24:50And you
00:24:51You're the teacher
00:24:52So it's you
00:24:53I'm flattered
00:24:54But that's not the answer
00:24:55Well let's see
00:24:56I think I know
00:24:58You're a great hunter and you hunt when it's dark
00:25:01Karak
00:25:01And someday I'll be a great hunter just like you
00:25:04And what's the answer?
00:25:05Go on
00:25:06The best friend of a good hunter is darkness
00:25:08Good
00:25:09That's the answer
00:25:11Karak
00:25:11Shh
00:25:13Karak
00:25:13What is it now?
00:25:15That's three
00:25:15Three what?
00:25:16You see you've taught me three things already
00:25:18First to sleep during the day
00:25:20Second to bear hunger
00:25:21And third to keep quiet
00:25:23Oh no
00:25:23There's four of them
00:25:25The fourth thing is
00:25:26That darkness is our best friend
00:25:28I learned all that Karak
00:25:30And I won't forget it either
00:25:32Where are you going Vic?
00:25:33I'm going hunting
00:25:35You taught me the rules
00:25:37You've a lot more to learn before you can hunt
00:25:39Hey attention Vic
00:25:40Watch your step
00:25:42And move carefully
00:25:43See?
00:25:44Just like this
00:25:45You mustn't leave a trail
00:25:47And so you must step lightly
00:25:48And sneak along
00:25:50As if you were a shadow
00:25:51You got it?
00:25:53A shadow
00:25:54I'll be like a shadow
00:25:56You try it
00:26:03Well?
00:26:04How was it?
00:26:05Am I a good shadow?
00:26:06Did I do it just right?
00:26:07You'll be better in time
00:26:08Let's go
00:26:17What did I do now?
00:26:19Keep in mind that it's not you who's taking me hunting
00:26:22All right?
00:26:22I'm taking you
00:26:23I'm sorry I forgot
00:26:25The first thing you've got to do
00:26:27Is to check for the wind
00:26:28Okay
00:26:29I'll start checking it
00:26:30Now what are you going to check for?
00:26:32I'll check to see if it's blowing
00:26:34Look, look
00:26:35It's blowing there
00:26:36Now that you've found the wind
00:26:37Watch the direction from where the wind comes
00:26:40To see where your scent is going
00:26:42Make sure that the wind doesn't blow your scent right to your prey
00:26:45Five
00:26:46That's five
00:26:47What's that?
00:26:48Sleep in the daytime
00:26:49Tolerate hunger
00:26:50Keep quiet
00:26:51Darkness is our best friend
00:26:53And look to see which way the wind blows
00:26:55That makes five
00:26:56And that's all of them
00:26:57See, Uncle?
00:26:58I'm learning
00:27:02I smell something
00:27:03I'm going hunting
00:27:04Wish me luck, okay?
00:27:06If I can see it, I can catch it
00:27:08And I can see a birdie
00:27:13And now another lesson
00:27:15Gotcha
00:27:18If I can see it, I can catch it
00:27:21Big deal
00:27:22You can't even tell the difference between a bird and a porcupine, wise guy
00:27:26Vic, you're wasting your time
00:27:28That's right
00:27:29A porcupine is too hard to get at
00:27:31You bet
00:27:32Because when he senses trouble
00:27:33He curls up into a thorny ball
00:27:35And he's protected by those sharp quills
00:27:37I couldn't have put it better myself
00:27:39What if I turn him upside down?
00:27:41Huh?
00:27:42I could take a little bite
00:27:43I bet he doesn't have sharp quills everywhere
00:27:46He's nuts
00:27:47Go ahead and try it
00:27:48Come on
00:27:48Didn't you learn anything from getting those quills in your nose?
00:27:52I guess so
00:27:53I'll have to skin him
00:27:54I'll be back
00:27:56Oh, yeah?
00:27:57If you do, you better bring your doctor along
00:28:00Dumb kid
00:28:02Here I come
00:28:05Try to be more quiet
00:28:07And move like a shadow, I told you
00:28:09I'm sorry, Carrick
00:28:10I know you told me that
00:28:11You must be able to hear sounds that are even quieter than whispers
00:28:15Okay, I promise
00:28:16Now I'll be quiet
00:28:17All right, let's go
00:28:19I'm getting hungry
00:28:26Hey, I smell something
00:28:27Carrick
00:28:28What is it?
00:28:30That's Meow, the cat
00:28:32She left the farmer's house to live in the wild like us
00:28:35I bet you she'd taste good, but her claws are too dangerous
00:28:39Don't bother her
00:28:40I've seen a lot of foxes with only one eye because of that cat
00:28:44Let's leave her alone, all right?
00:28:47She's probably looking for a nest
00:28:49Does she live in a nest?
00:28:50Of course not
00:28:51She's looking for a nest to rob what's in it
00:28:54But maybe she's looking for a mouse
00:28:56Cats are good hunters
00:29:07You were sneaking up, huh?
00:29:10Sneaking around down there, huh?
00:29:13Better watch out
00:29:15I'm a big, mean cat
00:29:20Look at my sharp claws
00:29:24That's better
00:29:24Vic, I told you not to bother that cat
00:29:28But honest, I was moving just like a shadow
00:29:30That's true
00:29:31But you let her see your eyes
00:29:33They were shining
00:29:34Well, that's not my fault
00:29:35I just can't help it
00:29:36They shine no matter what I do
00:29:38Well, let's leave her alone
00:29:40Meow's found herself a good place to rest up there
00:29:42I bet she won't be down until after dawn
00:29:45Next time
00:29:47Think of your eyes
00:29:48Keep them almost shut
00:29:50But I won't be able to see them
00:29:51How can I go hunting?
00:29:53Your nose will tell you all you need to know
00:29:55If you let your eyes frighten your prey
00:29:58You'll have nothing to eat
00:29:59And if you don't have anything to eat
00:30:02Oh, I don't even want to think about it
00:30:05If you have no food
00:30:06You'll grow weaker and weaker
00:30:08Oh, no
00:30:09I don't want to be weak
00:30:10Try this jump
00:30:11Okay
00:30:13Don't worry, Vic
00:30:14It takes practice
00:30:15And you'll do better next time
00:30:23Hey, what's that?
00:30:27His eyes
00:30:28He's shining them
00:30:29It's not fair that he gets to shine them
00:30:31If I can't
00:30:32Who?
00:30:35Who?
00:30:36Karak
00:30:36What is he saying?
00:30:38What a great dinner I just had
00:30:41That's who?
00:30:42He's what you call an owl
00:30:44Did you hear that?
00:30:46He just had a great dinner
00:30:47His eyes were shining
00:30:48He's making noise
00:30:49And still he got to eat
00:30:51We walk like shadows
00:30:52We're very quiet
00:30:53We hunt only when it's very dark up
00:30:56We check the wind
00:30:57And we're still hungry
00:30:59Should I make sounds like him?
00:31:02Never mind him
00:31:03He won't bother you
00:31:04When you go out hunting for ducks
00:31:06He only likes to eat little mice
00:31:08So don't worry
00:31:09He wouldn't know what to do with a duck
00:31:10If it fell on him
00:31:11I won't stand here and listen to this
00:31:14They're just jealous, that's all
00:31:17Very funny
00:31:19Be careful with him though
00:31:20Because his talons are sharp
00:31:22And his beak is strong
00:31:25I'm not scared
00:31:26Let's go, we're wasting time
00:31:28It's almost dawn
00:31:35This is rotten luck
00:31:36We'll never catch anything here now
00:31:38Listen to the noise they're making
00:31:40You've got to hand it to them, though
00:31:42Those wild pigs
00:31:43They work hard in the forest
00:31:45Not like those lazy ones on the farm
00:31:48I've an idea
00:31:49We'll go to the lake
00:31:50It's quieter there
00:31:51A frog's in the lake
00:31:53And I know where he is
00:31:54Why don't we catch him?
00:32:00I'm hungry
00:32:01What's that I smell?
00:32:03That's the smell of the hunter's house
00:32:05You must beware of him
00:32:08Do you hear?
00:32:09You mustn't go there
00:32:11Or he'll kill you with his thunder stick
00:32:13He hunts for foxes
00:32:15Is he the one that hunted dad and mom?
00:32:18Yes, Vic, he's the one
00:32:19He'd find out sooner or later
00:32:21Oh, he's the one
00:32:24Who took him away?
00:32:27Karak
00:32:27Have you ever seen that hunter, man?
00:32:30Yes, I have
00:32:31Have you been in the house?
00:32:33No
00:32:34No fox that I've ever heard of has been there
00:32:37The only animals there are servants of the master of the house
00:32:42Oh
00:32:42And he trains his dogs to track us down
00:32:46Vic, we'd better leave
00:32:49I'll be back
00:32:51Mister
00:32:52Someday I'll come back here and get you and your dogs
00:32:55I'll get even
00:32:56With you
00:33:02Okay, little fella
00:33:03Go catch your frog
00:33:05I'll just keep an eye on you from here
00:33:07Think you can do it?
00:33:09Yeah
00:33:10If you have any trouble
00:33:12Just holler
00:33:13And I'll be right there
00:33:15You don't love me
00:33:21But I love you so
00:33:29Oh, no
00:33:31Oh, boy
00:33:39A duck
00:33:44Oh
00:33:46That was a close one
00:33:48Where was I?
00:33:50I'm in love
00:33:51Won't you love me too?
00:33:58He won't catch a thing at this rate
00:34:00I wonder where he is
00:34:08Oh
00:34:09I bet he fell in
00:34:10I'd better go see
00:34:12I'm beginning to think this kid's going to be a real handful
00:34:16And I'm not much of a babysitter
00:34:17Oh, well
00:34:20He'll learn in time
00:34:22The main thing is that he's trying
00:34:31Well, I caught one at last
00:34:33I really caught one
00:34:35Carrick would be glad to see this
00:34:37Who are you, kid?
00:34:38Speak up
00:34:39What are you doing here?
00:34:40Why should I tell you?
00:34:42Because this is my territory
00:34:43I asked you a question
00:34:45I'm a
00:34:47I'm a
00:34:47Stop stuttering, you little idiot
00:34:50Vic
00:34:50Vic's my name
00:34:52And I'm a hunter
00:34:53And you can't have the duck that I caught
00:34:55He's mine because I caught him
00:34:56He's mine
00:34:57We'll see if he's yours or not
00:35:00You little runt
00:35:02If you're not out of here in one minute
00:35:04I'll bite you in half
00:35:05Get going
00:35:08Oh, goodness
00:35:09I should have seen the resemblance sooner
00:35:11Oh, yes
00:35:12You look like your father, Khan
00:35:14He was the son of the great Vic
00:35:16Carrick is your great uncle then, isn't he?
00:35:18I bet he's the one who taught you to be such a good hunter
00:35:21Of course he was
00:35:23Uh-huh
00:35:24I see
00:35:25All the foxes know that this is Carrick's territory
00:35:28Yep
00:35:28Mm-hmm
00:35:30Well, I'd better get going on home
00:35:33I was just passing
00:35:34Uh-huh
00:35:34Well then, bye
00:35:35See you again
00:35:37Tell your uncle that I send my regards
00:35:39And that if he doesn't mind, I'll stop by to visit him soon
00:35:42Better get out of here, I'll start getting rough
00:35:44And don't come back
00:35:46You're not a fox, you're a weasel
00:35:49Oh, one of these days, Carrick
00:35:52I'll get even with you
00:35:53If there's a weasel around here, it's you
00:35:56I curse you now and forever, Carrick
00:35:59Stupid idiot
00:36:00Dirty, low-down, no good
00:36:03Toothless
00:36:06Holier than thou
00:36:08Arrogant
00:36:10Oh, well
00:36:13That took courage, what you did there, little Vic
00:36:16You defended your duck
00:36:18Uncle, I caught him
00:36:19For us both
00:36:21That's nice, Vic
00:36:22But what are you waiting for?
00:36:23Let's share it
00:36:26I'll have this end and you can have the other end
00:36:29You sure you want that end?
00:36:31Uh-huh, it's my favorite
00:36:32What should I do now?
00:36:34First, you have to pluck out the feathers
00:36:36One thing you'll learn about feathers is they don't taste very good at all
00:36:41And after that
00:36:42Oh, well
00:36:44Come on, come on
00:36:45Leave some of that
00:36:46Come on
00:36:49That duck was pretty good, wasn't it?
00:36:52Well, I wouldn't know
00:36:55I wouldn't know
00:37:00As the days grew longer, spring turned into summer
00:37:04The warming rays of the sun made the flowers blossom and the crops grow tall
00:37:09Vic grew stronger and braver
00:37:11He was taught many things by his kind Uncle Carrick
00:37:14But he still had much to learn
00:37:20Look, fellas, those birds over there must see something
00:37:23I wonder if it's a fox that's scaring them
00:37:26But the wheat's so high I can't see a thing
00:37:29Tomorrow they'll be harvesting that field
00:37:31And then we'll see if there's a fox in there
00:37:44Well, Vic
00:37:46What do you think about our summer residence?
00:37:49It's better than the cave
00:37:50It's nice and shady, isn't it?
00:37:54No one's going to bother us here
00:37:59Yeah, I like it a lot
00:38:00I was really getting tired of that dark old cave of ours
00:38:04And you know, this'll do just fine
00:38:15Vic, come back here right now
00:38:17What do you think you're doing?
00:38:19Uh, I was going to run in the field, is that okay?
00:38:22Naturally, I'll stay right here, if you'd rather
00:38:25But I'd like to check out the area, okay?
00:38:28Be careful, then
00:38:30And never go near that house
00:38:32It's very dangerous
00:38:35You've got to heed what I say
00:38:42Do you understand?
00:38:43Answer
00:38:44Will you be careful?
00:38:45I understand, Uncle
00:38:47I understand
00:38:48I'll be careful
00:38:50I heard everything you said
00:38:52And I won't go near the house
00:39:01Hey, come here
00:39:03I just want to talk to you
00:39:04A little chit-chat
00:39:05A little get-together
00:39:06That's all
00:39:07I like little guys like you
00:39:09Fat little blue jays
00:39:10Fat tasty little delicious blue jays
00:39:12Slow down
00:39:13Let's cut the marathon, okay?
00:39:15Hey, wait
00:39:20That's a big hurry
00:39:22Come here
00:39:23I just want to tell you a story, that's all
00:39:26A fairy tale
00:39:27About a mama bird and a little chick
00:39:30There, or I'll get mad
00:39:33All right, you ask for it
00:39:43Oh man, I promise it won't hurt
00:39:46Hey, uh-oh
00:39:51What did you just say?
00:39:53I promise it won't hurt?
00:39:54Ow, wicko
00:39:57Hey!
00:39:58Oh, I'm gonna get evil with you, yeah
00:40:05Hey, hey feathers
00:40:07You're gonna pay, buddy
00:40:10Yeah!
00:40:12You know what I'm gonna do?
00:40:14I'm gonna tell the dogs where you are
00:40:17Wolves watching stand
00:40:17Hawa, yeeah!
00:40:18Hawa, hawa, hawa light
00:40:35Hawa, hawa!
00:40:38Hawa, haw.
00:40:41Hawa, hawaii
00:40:58So, this must be the place, huh?
00:41:02I guess Carrick doesn't know about the food here.
00:41:04I'll have to tell him.
00:41:06Oh, yum.
00:41:07I wonder if there are any more fancy birds up there.
00:41:18Hey there, Piggy.
00:41:19What a lazy one you are.
00:41:21Why don't you live in the forest instead of being all caged up?
00:41:24Huh?
00:41:29What are you doing there?
00:41:32You must be one of the servants.
00:41:34No.
00:41:35Then you're a coward not to stay in the forest and hunt for yourself.
00:41:38Well, you're lazy or what?
00:41:40Don't say that.
00:41:42I'm not.
00:41:43I don't want to stay in this place.
00:41:45I was captured by that old farmer when I was very small.
00:41:48Hey, why don't you chew your way out of there?
00:41:50And then you could come out and you'd be free.
00:41:52I've tried that.
00:41:54I tried to chew my way out of here, but the bars aren't made of wood.
00:41:57They're made of something quite a bit harder.
00:41:59Poor thing.
00:42:01Don't leave.
00:42:02Oh, please don't go yet.
00:42:03I've never met someone nice like you before.
00:42:06Will you help me?
00:42:07I'll help you to get out of there.
00:42:09Don't you worry.
00:42:10Later tonight.
00:42:10Oh, don't leave.
00:42:11Please get me out right now.
00:42:13You're my only hope.
00:42:15But I promise I'll come back.
00:42:16Yeah, later tonight.
00:42:18With my uncle.
00:42:19He's clever and I know he'll think of something to get you out.
00:42:21Are you sure?
00:42:22Uh-huh.
00:42:23I promise you'll get me out tonight, okay?
00:42:25Don't worry.
00:42:26Before you know it, I'll have that pretty face of yours on this side of the barn.
00:42:34See you later, Foxy.
00:42:51Honey, Fido, come on, get inside.
00:42:54Hurry up before you catch cold.
00:42:57Look at you.
00:42:58You're sopping wet.
00:43:00What weather.
00:43:02No, it's you.
00:43:04Get back outside.
00:43:06Go on.
00:43:07You heard me.
00:43:09Right now.
00:43:18Karak, why does he have to stay out?
00:43:20Only those sissies got in.
00:43:22They're obedient, so he let them in.
00:43:25But this one has a mind of his own and doesn't always do what he's told to do.
00:43:29He could leave here any time.
00:43:31But he's very loyal.
00:43:33But look where his loyalty has gotten him.
00:43:35If he learned to be a bit more of a hypocrite, they'd let him in.
00:43:40As a matter of fact, speaking of loyalty, you didn't listen to me about not coming here.
00:43:45I know it's wrong, but I was hungry.
00:43:48Vic, not even hunger should tempt you.
00:43:52No smart fox would ever get so near to that house.
00:43:55I promised her, though.
00:43:56We have to go there now.
00:43:57Ah, well, Vic, no talking you out of this, so I guess I'll go with you.
00:44:04I only do this for you, remember?
00:44:06Thank you, Uncle.
00:44:08And you should remember that I'll take care of you forever to thank you for this great kindness.
00:44:13Even when you're old.
00:44:15I promise.
00:44:16That's a nice thought, but let's save her first.
00:44:23I knew you'd come.
00:44:25You said your uncle would think of something.
00:44:27Foxy, I'd like to introduce my Uncle Carrack.
00:44:30He's the bravest and the wisest fox in the whole wide world.
00:44:34And he's the best teacher who taught me everything I know.
00:44:37And what's your name?
00:44:38You forgot to tell me it this afternoon.
00:44:40That's enough.
00:44:41Talk later.
00:44:43We must start digging.
00:44:45We have to get her out while it's still raining.
00:44:48Now, Vic, guard us.
00:44:49Be the lookout.
00:44:50And you should start digging inside.
00:44:55Get going!
00:45:05I can't.
00:45:06What's going on in there?
00:45:08Hey, stop making such a racket.
00:45:11But my nails aren't strong enough.
00:45:13That's because you never had to use them.
00:45:15I'm sorry.
00:45:16Just keep trying.
00:45:24Vic!
00:45:27Vic!
00:45:28Come here quickly and start digging.
00:45:31I need a rest.
00:45:36Oh, there's trouble, Carrack.
00:45:40What is it?
00:45:41There's no way to get in the cage from down here.
00:45:43Don't give up.
00:45:45Not yet.
00:45:47Carrack, think of something.
00:45:49She can't stay in there.
00:45:50I gotta get her out of there tonight.
00:45:52I tell you, it can't be done.
00:45:54It's much too hard.
00:45:56We can't break the bars with our teeth.
00:45:58I just gotta get her out.
00:46:00I got it.
00:46:01Yeah.
00:46:02We can try to do it anyhow.
00:46:04We'll break the cage.
00:46:06Vic!
00:46:07Where are you going?
00:46:08It's crazy.
00:46:08How can we possibly break it?
00:46:10What are you doing over there?
00:46:13I need your help, Carrack.
00:46:15Better get in the corner, Foxy.
00:46:16Yeah.
00:46:17All right.
00:46:21Carrack, watch out.
00:46:23Here it goes.
00:46:27Ah!
00:46:29What was that?
00:46:31Will you listen to that thunder?
00:46:33Easy, easy.
00:46:35Keep quiet.
00:46:38That's enough.
00:46:43Take it easy there, fellas.
00:46:44I said, take it easy.
00:47:09How can I ever thank you?
00:47:12I'll never forget how brave you were.
00:47:14Mr. Carrack, I can never thank you enough.
00:47:18It's Vic you should be thanking.
00:47:21He was more than just brave.
00:47:24I hope you don't mind if I tell her about you.
00:47:27I can't tell you how proud I am of him.
00:47:30He's smart and strong and good-hearted.
00:47:33I don't think anybody else could have done what he did today.
00:47:37Don't you agree with me?
00:47:38Oh, yes.
00:47:40Of course I do.
00:47:41And do you know who raised him?
00:47:44Taught him everything he knows.
00:47:45He did.
00:47:47But now he really needs to sleep.
00:47:49We've all had a rough day.
00:47:51You can stay with us.
00:47:52Okay?
00:47:53Mm-hmm.
00:47:54Is that all right, Uncle Carrack?
00:47:56Yep.
00:47:57Well, of course.
00:47:58There's room enough for all of us.
00:48:01Yep.
00:48:03Let's go to sleep.
00:48:05I don't ever remember being this tired.
00:48:09We all need a good rest.
00:48:13Both of you, sweet dreams.
00:48:16Now go to sleep.
00:48:18And thank you for everything, Carrack.
00:48:21And Vic, thank you, too.
00:48:24Sleep tight, my friends.
00:48:27If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:48:29Well, a stupid fox.
00:48:33Carrack, Carrack.
00:48:35Good.
00:48:36There's the hunter.
00:48:37Just as I expected.
00:48:39Carrack, Carrack.
00:48:41Now I'll get evil in here for pulling out my feathers.
00:48:45Carrack.
00:48:46Hey, hey.
00:48:47I see he isn't alone.
00:48:50Now there's three of them.
00:48:51Ooh, he's going to be more fun than I thought.
00:48:54Hey, yeah, Mr. Hunter.
00:48:57Yoo-hoo.
00:48:57There's something here.
00:49:03He's going to be better, Fido.
00:49:04Come on, Barney.
00:49:05Do your job.
00:49:06That bird's not hollering out there for nothing.
00:49:10This way.
00:49:11He's getting closer and his dogs are with him.
00:49:15He's coming over here, sir.
00:49:19Carrack, Carrack.
00:49:21Well, I sure am glad to see you guys down there.
00:49:26Now, don't sit there.
00:49:27Come on.
00:49:29The fox is in a boy's cage.
00:49:33There are three of them.
00:49:34I'm pointing right at them.
00:49:36Barney, Fido, down.
00:49:38We'll wait.
00:49:39They'll come to us.
00:49:44The sound of those combines will scare them.
00:49:47That'll make them leave their hiding place and run this way.
00:49:56Huh?
00:50:00Thanks!
00:50:01Ah, let's get out of here.
00:50:04All this noise, the hunter can sneak up on us.
00:50:06Let's go.
00:50:07Wait.
00:50:08It could be dangerous.
00:50:09Nick, we have no choice.
00:50:11So let's be sure that we try not to run too close together.
00:50:15That way they might not get all of us.
00:50:16Fido.
00:50:16They're right near by.
00:50:18Stay here.
00:50:19I'll look around.
00:50:20Come back.
00:50:26He's running my torso.
00:50:28The fox is coming.
00:50:30I told you I'd get you.
00:50:34Carrack, Carrack.
00:50:36It'll get you any second now.
00:50:38That'll teach you not to steer my fetish.
00:50:43No.
00:50:44No!
00:50:45He's getting away!
00:50:47Hurry up!
00:50:48Yeah!
00:50:48I don't believe it!
00:50:50I saw the farmer.
00:50:52He's waiting at the edge of the field.
00:50:54We'll have to go the other way.
00:50:56We can't do that.
00:50:58Listen to that noise.
00:50:59Now what?
00:51:02Carrack, I know that you're smarter and wiser than me,
00:51:04but please, you've got to trust me.
00:51:07There's no time to waste.
00:51:09Follow me.
00:51:13Hey!
00:51:17The fox is just getting away!
00:51:19Hey, over there!
00:51:20Look, there's a fox.
00:51:22There's two of them.
00:51:24I see three of them.
00:51:25I'll hit them off.
00:51:29They're not afraid of anything.
00:51:30They ran right past the combines.
00:51:32They're getting away!
00:51:34Claw!
00:51:35Claw!
00:51:36Claw!
00:51:36Claw!
00:51:37Those jacks, please!
00:51:39Those farmers are so dumb!
00:51:43Now, the noisy birds scare them away.
00:51:48Starshoot!
00:51:48What are you waiting for?
00:51:51Claw!
00:51:51Claw!
00:51:52A rich imitation?
00:51:54Well, I'm happy!
00:51:55Come on!
00:51:56Come on!
00:51:56Claw!
00:51:57Claw!
00:51:57Claw!
00:51:58Hey!
00:51:58Hey!
00:51:59Hey!
00:52:00Hey!
00:52:01Hey!
00:52:01I'm just trying to help you, for peace' sake!
00:52:04Claw!
00:52:04Claw!
00:52:05Claw!
00:52:09Vic, today without you, we would have been done for.
00:52:12Now, the day has come, you have grown up.
00:52:15You're free to live your life where you wish and with whom you wish.
00:52:22If you want to, we can stay together or you can go out on your own.
00:52:25It's your decision.
00:52:27What are you saying?
00:52:29You don't have to ask. You know the answer.
00:52:33Yep, of course. I've decided that we should stay together.
00:52:37And I'm so happy that the three of us all agreed to that.
00:52:40Oh, Vic.
00:52:41And I guess three heads are better than one.
00:52:44And this way we can all help each other when we go out hunting.
00:52:47That all right, Karak?
00:52:48Yes, it's all right.
00:52:50Why are you staring at us, Uncle?
00:52:52I'm... it's nothing.
00:52:54It's just that... it's just that I'm so proud of you.
00:52:59Okay, you sweethearts.
00:53:02It's about time we were going.
00:53:12The days grew shorter as summer turned to autumn.
00:53:16The chilly air bid farewell to the leaves of the trees.
00:53:19And the three foxes were no longer protected by the cover of foliage.
00:53:28The farmers turned their attention from harvesting their crops to hunting.
00:53:32Fox hunting.
00:54:02The
00:54:07Let's go.
00:54:40Vick! Foxy! Stay close to the ground!
00:54:44Come on! Let's go this way!
00:54:49Stop, Karak!
00:54:52We're too late. They have us surrounded.
00:54:57Unless... I got it. Let's go, come on!
00:54:59All right.
00:55:07I think we can hide here. We can see the hunters, but they can't see us.
00:55:15Well, I knew they'd be trouble, but I didn't think it would ever be this terrible.
00:55:34Let's run.
00:55:36No, we shouldn't.
00:55:38I suppose that you're right. Three of us together don't stand a chance anyway.
00:55:43Karak, listen to me. I know I'm younger than you, but please listen.
00:55:47I saw that man, and he brought his dogs and his thunder stick with him.
00:55:52If we run, we'll be killed. But if we stay right here, very still, they might not notice us.
00:55:58What do you think?
00:55:59Look, look. Look, there's a fox.
00:56:03Two of them.
00:56:07I'll meet you at the cave.
00:56:09Wait, don't leave yet.
00:56:17Oh, they got him. But why did he jump like that? Why?
00:56:21Vic, do you think maybe he just fooled him?
00:56:24Hey, did you get him?
00:56:26Better get down.
00:56:28I sure did. He won't come stealing my birds anymore.
00:56:31It's going to be hard to find him down there.
00:56:34Well, I'm not going to break my back over this one.
00:56:37The crows can have him. They're entitled to their share.
00:56:41Yeah, I guess you're right.
00:56:52Oh, you're safe.
00:56:55You're not wounded, are you?
00:56:57No.
00:56:58Go on. We're okay.
00:57:00Did you get hit, Beth?
00:57:02Yes, I was hit.
00:57:03And I'm afraid it couldn't be worse.
00:57:06But my pain will pass.
00:57:09I'm really tired right now, Vic.
00:57:12Why'd you do it, Karak? Why?
00:57:15You don't have to ask.
00:57:17You'd have done the same thing in my place, Vic.
00:57:20You know as well as I do, there was no other way out.
00:57:24Unless one of us distracted them,
00:57:27they would have found us, and now all three of us would be dead.
00:57:33After all, you two have only just started your lives.
00:57:39But Karak...
00:57:40Quiet now, Vic.
00:57:44Vic.
00:57:46The last thing I can teach you is...
00:57:50they can't kill Karak.
00:57:52They can't kill Karak.
00:57:54But they can't kill the spirit of the fox.
00:58:04Go and live in my cave.
00:58:07Do as I say.
00:58:08You'll be safe there.
00:58:10There's a lot of room, all right?
00:58:14Take care of each other.
00:58:19Goodbye.
00:58:25Karak.
00:58:26Karak!
00:58:27Karak is gone now, Vic.
00:58:31I hate that farmer with his thunder stick.
00:58:34Let's go now, Vic.
00:58:36He wanted us to go live in his cave.
00:58:38Listen to me.
00:58:39You who keeps growing thinner,
00:58:41and then fills up again.
00:58:43Listen to me,
00:58:45and be my witness.
00:58:46Come on.
00:58:47Let's go, Vic.
00:58:48I curse the one who took Karak away today.
00:58:52I'll see that he's punished
00:58:54if it's the last thing I do.
00:58:56Come on.
00:59:02Hear the latest?
00:59:04What's the new gossip?
00:59:06Tell us.
00:59:06Huh?
00:59:07Come on.
00:59:10What's the news at the house?
00:59:12Get a load of this.
00:59:15Barney got tricked again
00:59:16by that sly fox, Vic.
00:59:18This time, what did he get,
00:59:19that little rascal?
00:59:22Well, he took the best chicken.
00:59:27Straight out of the coop.
00:59:28Can you believe it?
00:59:29And he did it right
00:59:30under that old hound's nose.
00:59:35And then,
00:59:36last week,
00:59:37he took the rooster
00:59:38and broke the favorite statue
00:59:39of the lady of the house.
00:59:41That ugly thing
00:59:42was worth a fortune.
00:59:46And Barney was on the chase
00:59:47till dawn,
00:59:48but not after Vic.
00:59:51Who then?
00:59:52He chased his own shadow.
00:59:53One time,
00:59:54we saw him chasing Fido.
00:59:55He couldn't even tell
00:59:57another dog from a fox.
01:00:06It was something.
01:00:07What a sight.
01:00:09Barney was out chasing Fido
01:00:10and that's when the sly fox
01:00:13stall another twelve chickens
01:00:15and three ducks
01:00:16all in one night.
01:00:20That fox should be
01:00:21giving Barney a commission.
01:00:29Oh, what a disaster.
01:00:31It's a disaster.
01:00:33I'll never live it down.
01:00:37What's gotten into those dogs?
01:00:39Hey, Chester,
01:00:40when are you going
01:00:41to bring me those eggs?
01:00:42All right,
01:00:43hold your horses.
01:00:44How many times
01:00:45do I have to tell you?
01:00:52Oh, no.
01:00:53That darn fox.
01:00:55How did he get in?
01:00:57Oh, through the window.
01:01:03I hope he didn't get
01:01:05into the coop again.
01:01:07Why the heck
01:01:07do I keep you guys around
01:01:09if you let the fox
01:01:10come in whenever he wants?
01:01:17Something fishy.
01:01:19I don't like this.
01:01:23It's too quiet.
01:01:25Well, let's see.
01:01:27Now that fox
01:01:29has really done it.
01:01:30He got all of them.
01:01:36My prized chicken.
01:01:39And my two silly geese.
01:01:42How am I going to explain this?
01:01:44They were already sold.
01:01:54My goodness.
01:01:55Well, dear,
01:01:56did you hear what he said?
01:01:58What do you think he meant?
01:02:00Well, how should I know?
01:02:03All I know is that
01:02:04he said that thing about us again.
01:02:11I don't know what he means.
01:02:15Those silly geese.
01:02:16I don't get it.
01:02:18Silly as a goose.
01:02:20I guess that means
01:02:21that we tell good jokes.
01:02:25Remember the one
01:02:26I told you last week?
01:02:27Help!
01:02:29Help!
01:02:31Let's go.
01:02:33I think we should
01:02:34hold on to each other.
01:02:36That way we won't fall down
01:02:37when we walk.
01:02:40All right.
01:02:41Let's go find out
01:02:43what all the fuss is about.
01:02:45Thank God
01:02:45at least these two are safe.
01:02:48Oh, good heavens.
01:02:50Both of them are dead drunk.
01:02:52You were around the press again,
01:02:53huh?
01:02:54You drank all that old cider.
01:02:55Well, you were lucky.
01:02:57At least this way
01:02:58that sly fox couldn't take you.
01:03:00All right.
01:03:01You're coming with me.
01:03:07I kind of like this.
01:03:09It's not too bad.
01:03:11I could get used to this.
01:03:13He can carry me anywhere.
01:03:17It sure beats walking around.
01:03:19My feet were tired.
01:03:22Fido, Barney,
01:03:24get over here.
01:03:26Listen to me.
01:03:27All I've got left
01:03:28are these two geese.
01:03:29If they're stolen,
01:03:30that's it for you.
01:03:31Guard them with your life.
01:03:33You heard them.
01:03:34That goes for you also.
01:03:36Is that understood?
01:03:37I'll be counting
01:03:38on you.
01:03:40Now get this into your heads.
01:03:42If that fox gets these two,
01:03:44I'll turn you both into rugs.
01:03:52Oh, we've become so important.
01:03:55Did you hear?
01:03:56Well, they can count on me.
01:03:59I won't c-c-c-keep them from doing their duty.
01:04:04Not me.
01:04:06No, sir.
01:04:08Oh, come on now.
01:04:10Let's sing a song for them.
01:04:12It's the least we can do.
01:04:13We'll entertain them.
01:04:15Oh, McDonnell had a farm.
01:04:18E-I-E-I-O.
01:04:21And on that farm,
01:04:22he had some geese.
01:04:25Sing along.
01:04:27Well, I don't think they like the song.
01:04:29I know what.
01:04:31Ha!
01:04:31Let's change the words.
01:04:33All right.
01:04:34Shut up!
01:04:35Oh!
01:04:35I'm in charge here now,
01:04:37and you're gonna do what I say to do.
01:04:39Got it?
01:04:41It's just our luck, isn't it, Bill?
01:04:45He didn't like that verse,
01:04:46so let's just sing him another verse.
01:04:49I'm not far,
01:04:50he had a dog.
01:04:51Shut up!
01:04:52All right, all right.
01:04:57This is a cry in shame.
01:04:59Yeah, I feel just the same.
01:05:02Oh, yeah, well, you know,
01:05:03I'm supposed to be a hunting dog,
01:05:05not some kind of sheriff.
01:05:06Oh, well, what about me?
01:05:08Do I look like a deputy
01:05:09or something like that?
01:05:10Huh?
01:05:11Why do you always think only of yourself?
01:05:13You know, I really think you're very selfish.
01:05:15Well, I was just saying
01:05:16that I wasn't born to do this either.
01:05:18Oh, this is surely the end.
01:05:21You did hear what he told us, didn't you,
01:05:23about what'll happen if we lose him.
01:05:25If these two geese get stolen,
01:05:27I'll be the laughingstock of the neighborhood
01:05:29and never be able to show my face around here.
01:05:32Don't blame it on me!
01:05:34Why don't they ever blame you?
01:05:37I'm the world's unluckiest dog.
01:05:39I don't understand how I ever got into this situation anyhow.
01:05:42Now, listen, I'm dog number one
01:05:45and you're dog number two.
01:05:46Do you understand?
01:05:47On the right is goose number one,
01:05:49goose number two is on the left.
01:05:51All right, I'll watch number one
01:05:53and then you watch goose number two.
01:05:55Which one?
01:05:56Oh, what did I do to deserve this?
01:05:59I bet you don't even know
01:06:00who dog number two is, do you, Fido?
01:06:03Me?
01:06:04That's it, isn't it?
01:06:06Now you got it.
01:06:07Keep an eye on the one on the left.
01:06:10All right, don't move an inch!
01:06:11Who does he think he is bossing us around like that?
01:06:16What did I do to him?
01:06:18I don't know.
01:06:19He's just in a bad mood.
01:06:20Maybe we should take a little nap
01:06:22and he'll be over it, I hope,
01:06:25by the time we wake up.
01:06:27All right?
01:06:33And last.
01:06:49Oh, no, he's here!
01:06:51Do you think I can't smell him, huh?
01:06:53Just keep an eye on your goose.
01:07:07Uh, I think I should tell you...
01:07:09That's not necessary.
01:07:10I know it's a bone.
01:07:14And now the floor is moving.
01:07:16Barney?
01:07:17I can't figure out why he's doing that.
01:07:23He moved.
01:07:24Now I can hear him upstairs.
01:07:25He's in the attic.
01:07:26I wonder what he's doing up there.
01:07:28Shut up and concentrate.
01:07:30Don't take your eye off of him.
01:07:32I wish I knew what that darn fox was up to.
01:07:39Uh-oh, something just ripped up there.
01:07:41Hey, didn't you hear that?
01:07:57Oh, great.
01:07:58The fox didn't get the geese.
01:08:00They're both still here.
01:08:01But what happened to Fido?
01:08:03Oh, no!
01:08:03Fido!
01:08:04I'm here, Barney.
01:08:06I thought you were the one who was missing.
01:08:12Well, I'm certainly not thrilled about it, but I think it's a good time to find another
01:08:17place to live at.
01:08:18Yeah, and I say we make it as soon as possible, all right?
01:08:21I didn't quite understand what he meant by that rug thing, did you?
01:08:24There's no time for explanations.
01:08:26Just follow me.
01:08:34What a story.
01:08:36Tell me what happened.
01:08:38Fido and Barney took off on an early retirement.
01:08:43I guess that means they won't be able to collect their pension, does it?
01:08:50Well, I wonder where they're going to live now.
01:08:52No one's going to hire two dogs that can't hunt and can't guard.
01:08:58They'll never last.
01:08:59They'll have to live in the gutter, and we'll have to bring them scraps and stuff like that.
01:09:05Yeah, what a joke.
01:09:07Did you hear the one about the two dogs and the flower shower?
01:09:10Work?
01:09:11Oh, God!

01:11:27The snow fell and welcomed in the winter, but then the sun melted away the frost, and again, the sounds
01:11:35of spring and the birth of a new season were in the air.
01:11:52Okay now, son, let's go.
01:11:55He sure is a frisky one.
01:11:57He reminds me of you the most.
01:11:59I hope he'll be safe here.
01:12:01Well, what did Karak say when he left us this place?
01:12:04It's safe.
01:12:05Okay?
01:12:06And he also said there's plenty of room, and we really need that.
