00:00Brady, how shocked were you that Michigan ran Arizona off the floor the way they did yesterday?
00:06I was pretty shocked, Dan.
00:07It was unfortunate.
00:08I think the entire country was looking forward to this marquee matchup, these two powerhouses.
00:14And it was absolutely dominated, really, from start to finish by one side, that being the maize and blue.
00:21And you go to the earlier semifinal as well.
00:24I think that was somewhat disappointing, too, just from a fan perspective.
00:28Neither game was really that entertaining.
00:31And I believe it was really a coaching mismatch.
00:34I thought Dan Hurley out-coached Brad Underwood, and I thought Dusty May out-coached Tommy Lloyd.
00:40You wouldn't necessarily expect that.
00:42I mean, if these two teams, if we saw these matchups play out 10 times, not every one of them
00:48is going to end up like that.
00:49But on an isolated one-game situation, I thought these two coaches really out-dueled their opponents.
00:57And it was dominant and unfortunate for the fan.
01:01But, hey, congratulations to UConn and Michigan.
01:03We'll see them on Monday night.
01:05Am I right when I say this, that Arizona just had no answers for the guard play of Michigan?
01:12I thought it was when they went back and forth and they went up and down the court there.
01:17It just looked like Michigan just absolutely took them to school.
01:20Their attack backcourt play.
01:23Am I right when I say that?
01:25I just think, as a whole, they looked more prepared.
01:28Arizona looked like a little bit deer in the headlights.
01:31They didn't know what had hit them.
01:33And it's interesting that the guard play was, you know, a dominant piece of the Michigan puzzle.
01:40Because I thought that would be possibly an advantage for Arizona.
01:44You figured the size of both teams was pretty much of a wash, especially in the front court, right?
01:49But Arizona had a little bit more size in the guards and on the wings.
01:54And I thought their offensive rebounding ability would give them the edge.
01:58Let's remember, both of these games were point spread at one and a half points.
02:04They weren't nearly that close.
02:06You expected, everybody expected close games.
02:08And, you know, you're trying to find reasons why one team might win, why the other.
02:14And I thought Arizona, you know, at the guards, like I say, had a size advantage.
02:19And also on the offensive glass, it was completely neutralized.
02:23I mean, it looked like early in the game, you're like, okay, Michigan's out to a, you know, seven, eight
02:28point lead.
02:29No problem.
02:30Arizona will come back.
02:31This wasn't Purdue.
02:32You know, you remember Purdue jumped out to an early lead over Arizona.
02:37No, and, you know, throughout the regular season, I was talking about this on the show with Scott Wetzel yesterday,
02:43too.
02:45In the Big 12 conference play and in the Big 10 conference play, it looked like Michigan showed a few
02:51more chinks in the armor on occasion.
02:53And it looked like they were possibly more beatable than Arizona showed.
02:58Now, I know each team had a couple of losses, stubbed their toe a couple of times, but it looked
03:03to me like Michigan was the one that was more vulnerable.
03:07But, boy, not last night.
03:09That was very, very impressive.
03:12And I don't know.
03:13I mean, what does Dan Hurley do now, Dan?
03:15Does he have another coaching miracle up his sleeve where he can knock off the big, bad Wolverines?
03:22Man, I don't know.
03:23I'll tell you what.
03:23I am such a fan of Dan Hurley here.
03:26And tell me if you thought the same thing that I did watching this.
03:30You know, and I'll use a personal reference here, Brady.
03:33When we played a national championship games with Jimmy Johnson, when I got into those games every single year, I
03:41got into a comfort zone.
03:43Did it not look like those UConn players looked like they fit in, belonged?
03:47Nothing was going to shock them.
03:49I mean, Illinois may have had the best roster going into that game, but those players just looked like the
03:55light wasn't too bright for them.
03:57Am I right to say that?
03:59You know, it's interesting.
04:00I do agree with that perception, but not, I don't know if any of those guys were, I don't think
04:06any of those players were on the previous Final Four and championship teams for UConn.
04:11So it's not like they had been there, done that, but their coach certainly had them prepared.
04:16I think what really gave them, obviously they had a sense of confidence coming in, but what really kind of
04:24eased the pain and the nerves and that type of thing for UConn was starting to hit their three-pointers.
04:29You remember in the game against Duke, they started out one for 18 from behind the arc.
04:34Now they turned it around late, and that was really a big piece of why they were able to get
04:38that victory, but they started hitting their threes early and often against Illinois, and that really gave them a great
04:47head start, and they really kind of rode that all the way to the end.
