Father Peter St. Hillaire says at times he is left searching for words as he reflects on the many troubling issues affecting the world today, particularly the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking with TV6 News during the Good Friday observances of the Stations of the Cross in Tobago, Father St. Hillaire said the level of human suffering seen globally continues to weigh heavily on many people of faith.

00:00You know, when you see what is taking place in the world, sometimes, you throw your hands in and say,
00:04Lord, how for us to pray for the world right now with all the wars that is taking place.
00:11Sometimes it can be very difficult and challenging to say, Lord, I just don't know how to pray.
00:17But what I do as priests, that's what I say.
00:21I say, Lord, I do not know what to say, but as I celebrate Mass, I place the world and
00:26all those at war in the chalice.
00:29So the blood of Jesus will saturate all the countries at war this time.
00:34The annual Stations of the Cross observance in Tobago was held under the theme, Let Us Walk with Christ in
00:42Prayer as We Enter into His Passion.
00:45During the observance, the message to the public was one of reflection, unity and compassion.
00:51Participants were reminded that the Lenten season calls for deeper prayer and a renewed commitment to living in a manner
00:58that reflects the teachings of Christ.
01:01He is calling on citizens to be more respectful, one to the other.
01:06To be young people, to respect their elders.
01:10I think that is it.
01:11And we've seen it from top down.
01:13So it's not to say we are seeing that it's just society on the streets.
01:18We've seen it at high level come down.
01:21And I think that is what I think that on my heart that I realize that people need to respect
01:28each other.
01:29We need to listen to each other.
01:31Even though we disagree, we can disagree in a very civil way rather than break people and pull people down.
01:38His advice to the nation, be Jesus-centered.
01:42Wake up, see what is going on, and bring Jesus in the center.
01:47Because I believe a lot of us have forgot about Jesus.
01:51It's about me, myself, and I, and no longer Jesus-centered.
