00:10Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're taking a look at the 10 most grueling unlockables
00:16to grind for in the Mortal Kombat games.
00:29Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays
00:34and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:38MoCap and Blaze, Mortal Kombat, Deadly Alliance.
00:48For a clunky lummox and a bad joke character, the unlock requirements for MoCap and Blaze
00:53are way too demanding for what you're getting.
00:56To unlock these two, you will have to complete every single character's conquest missions.
01:01These missions are essentially tutorials in complex combos and special abilities.
01:14Sounds easy, but as with every fighting game, some players are going to have a harder time
01:19grasping certain characters than others.
01:22Again, the effort you have to put in here to unlock a Fire Ninja and a MoCap performer
01:27is more than most would care to put in.
01:40Versus Characters, Mortal Kombat, Shaolin Monks.
01:51Whereas MoCap and Blaze demand completion in Deadly Alliance, the secret characters in
01:56Shaolin Monks ask for more obtuse conditions to be met.
02:00Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the easiest, as they only require you to beat the game in co-op.
02:05But characters like Johnny Cage, Baraka, and the rest require you to uncover secret paths,
02:10destroy very specific objects, and sometimes kill a number of enemies in very, very specific ways.
02:18And since the game does not hint at how to unlock these characters at all,
02:21it's virtually impossible to figure out their requirements without using a guide.
02:32Pong Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection
02:38Normally, collections of old games don't contain many secrets outside of maybe some new concept art,
02:44or even just some developer interviews.
02:47Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection, on the other hand, gives you an entire game under certain conditions.
02:52It is possible to unlock and play a few rounds of the classic video game that ignited the entire gaming
02:58industry.
02:59Pong
03:02Tostee! Tostee! Tostee!
03:04Few will ever rise to the challenge to unlock this, though.
03:07To play Pong, you're gonna have to sit through 250 versus matches, in one sitting.
03:14Get your counters ready!
03:16Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee!
03:19Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee! Tostee!
03:31Of all the unlockables on this list, Floyd is the most annoying to deal with.
03:36This secret boss fight was added in a post-launch update for Mortal Kombat 1,
03:41and it gets obnoxious rather quickly. The Rainbow Ninja will only appear once you have beaten 10
03:46mysterious randomly selected challenges.
03:58Here's the kicker. MK1 pulls 10 random challenges from a pool of 37 for every single player,
04:06and it does not tell you which 10 you've been assigned until you attempt to beat them. In other
04:11words, you are basically going to have to bounce from challenge to challenge and hope for the best.
04:17Oh, and if you fail to defeat Floyd, you're gonna have to do all 10 of your challenges AGAIN.
04:27T-1000 wins.
04:29MEAT! Mortal Kombat 4.
04:38Meat might just be the ultimate joke character for Mortal Kombat. I mean, come on,
04:43who doesn't want to kick ass as an endlessly bleeding skeleton? If this is indeed your fantasy,
04:49Mortal Kombat 4 is going to make you work for it, as you will have to beat the game with
04:53all 16 playable
04:54characters. Obviously, Fujin's ladder is going to be easy to blast through thanks to that broken
05:06crossbow of his. As for the rest, you're just gonna have to get good and learn everybody's movesets.
05:11T-1000 wins. Maskless Variants. Mortal Kombat 11.
05:23My Shao Kahn is dead. Mine has eluded capture. I will show you how to best him.
05:30Ask any MK11 veteran, and they'll tell you just how stupid this game's crypt was. Heck,
05:35ask any gamer in general, and the one thing they'll tell you that sucks about some games is RNG.
05:41Well, MK11's crypt was entirely built on RNG, as the shrine and chests gave randomized rewards.
05:49If you want the maskless variants of certain characters, you're gonna have to grind like a
05:53madman. The only way to unlock maskless variants was to dump 75,000 coins into the shrine. While
06:01this would guarantee you a new piece of gear, the cost was far too great for a measly percentage in
06:07obtaining one maskless variant. It was ridiculous.
06:15Outtake Reel. Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub-Zero.
06:22I heard things. I heard things. I heard things. It's always fun seeing bloopers and outtakes from
06:29our favorite video games. Heck, even Mortal Kombat Mythologies has a somewhat wholesome reel of
06:34actors messing up lines. But is it worth all the trouble to unlock it? To see the reel yourself,
06:48you will have to suffer through mythologies with all of its cheap deaths, broken controls,
06:52and corny cutscenes. Or you can just do what we did and go unlock it in Deception's crypt for a
06:58few
06:58thousand coins. Or you know, you can always just look it up on YouTube now.
07:02We. You and I.
07:07Revenant Jax. Mortal Kombat X.
07:11State your business. You better be smiling when you say that.
07:15I'll be smiling in a minute.
07:17The Revenant skins aren't all that impressive really. Like, did anybody really see Liu Kang,
07:22Kitana, and Jax when they were glowing zombies and thought, yeah, I need that for a skin? Doubt it,
07:28but if you wanted Revenant Jax specifically, you were gonna have to work your ass off for it.
07:34The Revenant skin for Jax requires you to achieve 15 consecutive double flawless victories.
07:47Do you know what that means? 15 fights of two rounds each, where you take no damage and use no
07:56blocking. Knowing how aggressive MKX's AI is, this is pain. Sheer pain.
08:10Flush Pits Melina. Mortal Kombat.
08:17Tower Challenge 300 makes any Mortal Kombat fan shudder, and it is the only way you get to play
08:23as an almost naked Melina, for whatever that's worth. To unlock the costume, Tower Challenge 300
08:29demands you fight Goro, Kintaro, Melina, and Shao Kahn with only a single health bar.
08:43Each fight lasts only one round, and Shao Kahn will even enforce random modifiers in the middle of each
08:49fight. So, may the gods have mercy on you if he triggers the no blocking modifier. Hope the skimpy
08:56attire is worth the migraine.
09:04And lastly, the ultimate EJB menu.
09:12Consider it an unlockable. Consider it a cheat code.
09:15Either way, this is practically impossible for most people to do. The ultimate EJB menu went
09:22undiscovered for decades before somebody managed to find it across Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2,
09:28Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in 2016. Found in the arcade versions of these games,
09:35these menus gave the user almost complete control over how the cabinet functioned. Between running
09:41diagnostics to enabling secret characters to showing animations and minigames, almost each game's secrets
09:47were exposed in these menus, and the only way you could access them was by quickly inputting very
09:53extensive codes within a short period of time.
10:08Have you been able to unlock any of these for yourself? Let us know down in the comments,
10:12and be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays for more great videos every day.
10:16You see, Sub-Zero. You can trust the Zora Zora sometime.
