00:25Photoshop Flowey Undertale
00:31For the longest time, the internet has labeled Photoshop Flowey as one of the most terrifying
00:37bosses in video game history, and for good reason.
00:40It isn't just because of his violent attacks or disturbing phrases either.
00:43No, he's just really creepy and gross to look at.
00:46He's such a bizarre amalgamation of moving parts that it's practically teetering on the
00:51edge of cosmic horror.
00:52Seriously, I mean, what are we even looking at here?
00:54A TV with flesh and teeth for a body and plant thorns for arms?
00:59I mean, that's really the most we can gather from it, I guess, and we don't want a straight
01:03answer correcting us.
01:10Persona 5 has us bringing down all kinds of white-collar creeps, between corporate overlords
01:25to criminals extorting people.
01:26But Kamoshida is the biggest creep of the bunch, despite being the very first boss in the game.
01:32This famed athlete became a teacher for the sole reason to harm the school volleyball
01:36team and take advantage of the school's female students.
01:39One of them, Anne's best friend Shiho, is even driven to the point of attempting to
01:43take her own life.
01:44Kamoshida is a monster, and his shadow reflects every bit of his character.
01:48But what makes him truly disturbing is knowing there are adults who act and behave this way
01:53in the real world.
02:06Not everything in Darkest Dungeon is made out of grotesque parts and gross blobs of pus and
02:11tentacles.
02:12You'll encounter plenty of bandits, psychos, and the like.
02:15But once you attempt to kill off the flesh, you may never actually boot up this game again.
02:19This is pretty much the ultimate nightmare for those with sensitive stomachs.
02:23This beast is made entirely of disposed pig flesh that had previously been used to create
02:28the equally disturbing Swine King.
02:30Even more horrifying is the fact that they can have different forms that drastically change
02:35its appearance, showing more bone, more eyes, and more guts every single time.
02:39It's destruction is a small consolation, given the implications of its terrible existence.
02:47Calcabrina Final Fantasy XIV
02:56Now listen, when it comes to disturbing bosses, some fans may point to characters like Sephiroth,
03:01obviously.
03:02But we're not looking for characters with disturbing backstories here, that's actually
03:06a different list.
03:07No, Calcabrina is the most disturbing boss we've seen in a Final Fantasy game.
03:12I mean, come on, you can't not be disturbed by a creepy doll looking like this, right?
03:16Yes, it was unsettling to see it in Final Fantasy VI, but in Final Fantasy XIV, it's
03:21way bigger than we thought it would be.
03:23And we weren't expecting them to get their own demented circus-like music.
03:26Creepy.
03:32Luis, Nier Replicate
03:42Some may point to Emil as being the creepiest boss in the Nier games.
03:45I mean, there's definitely a case to be made for him with that smile on his moony face.
03:50But Luis is an even more terrifying creature.
03:53She looks as if Ridley Scott wanted to design a boss for Cyberpunk 2077, but Itataka Miyazaki
03:59stole it and made some tweaks for Square Enix.
04:01It's just a Hydra made of tubes and teeth.
04:03But what makes us shudder at the thought of Luis even more is that it is too powerful
04:08to be burned by one of its weaknesses, sunlight.
04:11Yeah, it's a monster that is virtually immortal.
04:13We can never be together.
04:16You disgust me.
04:24Chrono Cross
04:31Since we're talking about futuristic beasts bringing an end to humanity, Fate is definitely
04:35worthy of a spot here on this list.
04:37This is a living, self-aware, and self-efficient supercomputer whose goal is to replicate itself,
04:43thus reinventing itself into a new species, basically.
04:46Given the time that we're living in with AI slowly replacing jobs once held by humans,
04:51and, yeah, this is absolutely a terrifying boss just by the motive alone.
04:56Now, it doesn't help that Fate has this stone-cold look on its face that shows there's no feeling
05:01inside of it whatsoever.
05:02It lives on its ambition and ambition alone, no matter what harm it may bring.
05:15Alicia, Clare Obscure, Expedition 33
05:18Oh, you're the real accent.
05:23You know, Papa painted her.
05:25Expedition 33 definitely has a trove of bizarre-looking creatures.
05:29Some are funny, some are odd, and some are kind of garish.
05:32Alicia is perhaps the most unsettling of them all.
05:35Between the haunting discolored face and what appears to be severe scarring around her mouth,
05:40Alicia looks like she came straight out of a horror movie like The Exorcist or The Ring.
05:44And yet, her interaction with Miel before her boss fight does make her seem more sympathetic,
05:49more human almost.
05:51But we kind of forget that once we see how much more merciless she is in her attacks compared to
05:56Miel.
05:57We both deserve to fly.
06:00Let me give you a new beginning.
06:03Crow Mauler Fear and Hunger
06:09This creature almost looks like he could have been cobbled together by Dr. Moreau himself.
06:14A human man with a crow for a head and a spite club for an arm?
06:17Yeah, not something you'd want to be caught dead fighting against in a dark and dismal world such as Fear
06:22and Hungers.
06:22But what makes it more haunting is how he stalks you throughout the mines, ready to ambush you the second
06:27you're entering another room.
06:29And would you believe there is actually a stronger version of this monstrosity?
06:33Yeah, and it has two crow heads on top of the regular Crow Mauler's insta-kill move.
06:37Better grab that Penance Armor as soon as possible.
06:40Admin Shadow Hearts.
06:48Much like Photoshop Flowey, there is some really trippy and terrifying cosmic horror element to this haunting face.
06:54It isn't just the creepy eyes plastered all over that gets our stomach churning.
06:58According to the in-game bestiary, Admin exists within the minds of every single individual, eager to devour their soul
07:04and unleash its evil unto humanity.
07:07That potential is evident when it uses its eradication move.
07:10Nightmare Fuel does not even begin to describe the fight against Admin.
07:14You know what, maybe don't play Shadow Hearts with the lights turned off?
07:17Yeah, that's what we think.
07:18Valmar Grandia 2.
07:25Honestly, Valmar might just be the RPG boss to encapsulate almost everyone's greatest fears.
07:30Be it flesh, viscera, teeth, demons, winged creatures, or heck, even the very void of darkness itself.
07:36Valmar pretty much embodies every one of those things.
07:39Well, what else did you expect from a being known as the God of Evil?
07:43To defeat him, you will have to defeat various parts of his insides, each being just as horrifying as the
07:49last surprise surprise.
07:50If one of him doesn't traumatize you, the next one surely will.
