00:10Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're here to take a look at 10 of the hardest bosses in Mina
00:15the Hollower. Please do keep in mind that these aren't in any particular order, just 10 that we
00:20believe are some of the toughest to face down in this excellent retro-inspired romp. Oh, and yeah,
00:26there will be some spoilers ahead as well, so let's dive in.
00:37Before we begin, we publish new content all week long,
00:40so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:47Nox's Beast
00:55This strange aquatic bayou behemoth is able to suck in the world around itself through its gaping
01:00belly maw, which can make avoiding it a real challenge. As Nox's Beast hops around the arena
01:06trying to smash Mina and send out projectiles, there's not much room to come up with a viable
01:11strategy. Then, once you've gotten used to its bouncy movements and attacks, it dives into the
01:17water to swim about looking for prey in its primordial crocodile-slash-alligator form. Just
01:23avoid its snapping jaws if you don't want to end up on the wrong side of the dinner party.
01:35Locomotris Agnes
01:44This spectral battle set in the frozen train yard sees Mina fight against this menacing visage,
01:50once a train conductor, now roaming about in her ghostly form, causing mayhem and mischief.
01:55This fight might be quite short overall, but it's far from easy. First off, you barely have any room
02:01to move about on top of the ethereal glowing train, especially once it starts moving. This gets even
02:07worse as she sends a relentless barrage of phantasmagorical train ephemera at you with no respite.
02:13It's a lot to dodge, while also trying to land hits of your own on her. Her hulking form at
02:19the end of
02:19the battle might be easier to pummel, but her main attack can quickly decimate your health bar if you
02:25aren't careful.
02:35Evra the Undying
02:45Deep within September's courtyard, specifically inside Goddard's grave, Evra the Undying lies in
02:51way to torment any hapless passersby that seek to disrupt her. Evra might be a secret optional boss,
02:58and Goddard's malice-filled daughter, but she's worth the effort, since not only is she cool to
03:03witness atop her undead brute-like minion as she summons skeletons to thwart you, she's also just a fun
03:10tough-as-nails boss that will test Mina's battle prowess. The eternal garden she tends to might feature
03:15gothic beauty in spades, but you won't have enough time to enjoy it as ectoplasmic spheres
03:21are flung at you and skeletons try to send you to your early grave.
03:33The Carving Man
03:46If we are being real here, The Carving Man sounds like he comes straight out of the screen from a
03:51slasher
03:51horror flick. However, once you see his multi-limbs and pumpkin claws set within September no less,
03:58he seems like he was conjured in Tim Burton's mind. The Carving Man is no joke, not at all.
04:03Sure, the autumnal theme of the arena might be picturesque, but as soon as he starts attacking,
04:09all bets are definitely off. From his intensely brisk movements, to the way he can slam the arena with
04:14stone blocks, to his terrifying electricity attacks that make his battle kind of feel more like a bullet
04:20heck. It's clear The Carving Man is downright brutal.
04:32Fergus the Faithful
04:43Four heads are better than one, right? Surely Radiant Manor's butler, Mr. Fergus, can't be that
04:49devious and cunning, surely? Well, as Mina quickly realizes, Fergus is faithful to the end. This walking,
04:56talking, furry tank-like creature can quickly lay waste to you if you don't stay nimble at all times.
05:02Swiping at his head when the opportunity arises. In addition to his lunging head attack and his
05:07massive paw attacks, he can also spit hairballs at you. Yay, what fun. We love this. Okay,
05:14seriously though, Fergus's beast form is quite formidable and honestly, he won't be put down easily.
05:29Frozen Horror
05:36Yes, yes, this boss battle can easily be wrapped up in under a minute if you are on your A
05:42-game. However,
05:43it's deeply challenging for two main reasons. First, you are in an ice cave, so both Mina's
05:48movements and the Frozen Horror's movements are slippery and unwieldy. Secondly, the cave closes
05:54in on itself, making the boss arena smaller and smaller over time. Oh, and yeah, a bonus third reason
06:00the Frozen Horror is tough. Well, even after it's been defeated, it sends out one final wave of projectile
06:06attacks as a last ditch effort to hopefully prevent Mina from progressing. And yes,
06:11those can absolutely still hurt you. You've been warned.
06:22Thalassian
06:31What is it with optional bosses being so freaking hard? Well, such is the case with the giant fish
06:37creature in the back waters area of this game. If you want that gilded rod upgrade, then you best
06:42prepare Mina to take on Thalassian. It's a real doozy of a battle. If the thought of having waves of
06:48water thrust your way, massive bite attacks seeking you out, and quite literally being magikarped,
06:54all while balancing on a small rickety platform above the back waters puts your nerves on edge,
07:00then yeah, Thalassian is here for you. Hook, line, and sinker.
07:12The congealed.
07:21You know those tricky birthday candles out there? The ones you blow out over and over again,
07:25yet they always seem to relight? Well, that's how facing down the congealed feels here.
07:31Phase one is easy, you might say. This demonic looking creature straight out of the netherworld
07:35just darts about, not doing much. And you can whittle his health away quickly. But then,
07:40this amalgamation of creepy creatures prepares for phase two, where all heck breaks loose.
07:46Projectile attacks, spamming attacks, ridiculously quick movements, the list really goes on and on
07:51here. Surely that's it though, after phase two, especially since it ends with the typical boss
07:56finish animations. But nope, nope, not at all, you guessed it. The congealed warps into a sort of
08:01cosmic abyss dimension, and forces Mina to stay atop moving platforms, all while trying to defeat a
08:07blobby skull-like head. Yeah, have fun.
08:21Baron Lionel and Radiant Lionel.
08:31Not only is the Baron idolizing Spark, but he harnesses every single ounce of it, something that
08:36leads to his downfall in the end. But not before two climactic battles that will test all of Mina's
08:42strength and courage. So we opted to include both fights here in this entry, since they essentially act
08:48as one large final showdown against this Spark obsessed ruler. The battle against the Baron in
08:53his pre-Radiant form is tough, because his boss arena is tiny and quite literally surrounded with
08:58electricity. His melee attacks and lion swipes are relentless, and Mina must stay mobile to avoid the
09:05electric undercurrents. Once Mina gets to the tower, Lionel takes on the full power of Spark to become his
09:12radiant version, making him look like Zeus himself. As Mina winds her way up the tower to put a stop
09:17to
09:18all of this nonsense, Lionel bombards her over and over again with nary a break in sight.
09:35Mind Mind
09:46The best word to sum up this very boss fight would be unsettling. The Mind Mind seems like it was
09:52ripped
09:52still bleeding straight out of Castlevania, Metroid, or heck, even Silent Hill.
09:57The body horror imagery is enough to make this one stand out from all others in the game if we're
10:02being honest, but it's also just downright punishing. You see, Mind Mind is quite literally
10:07a fleshy oozing brain, one that attacks with massive AOE abilities, projectile spams, intestine-like walls
10:14that it forces to close in on you, trails of disgusting yellow goop, and more. It's a lot to deal
10:20with,
10:20and will really test your expertise as Mina. Best of luck.
10:33So, do you agree with our picks for this list? What bosses do you find the most punishing in Mina
10:38the Hollower? Let us know in the comments.
