00:03all right michigan and michigan state back on the march madness floor tonight
00:09ready set puke you know how these games are and here we go we'll start with yukon
00:14and michigan state played an exhibition game earlier this year nothing really stood out in
00:19that game other than michigan state fell behind eight to one and never really narrowed the lead
00:23pretty much trailed by double digits most of the way um but you know exhibition game i don't know
00:30if it really matters in any way whatsoever gator what are your thoughts on this matchup michigan
00:34state and yukon well michigan state's playing really well right now uh and they've gotten
00:39scoring from a bunch of different threats beyond the arc and that that definitely helps them out
00:45if michigan state continues to play the way that they have i think they have a really good chance
00:50of beating yukon um but if they fall into the habits of not being able to knock down that open
00:56shot turning the ball over uh and if yukon is able to shut down the the front court and the
01:02backcourt
01:02doesn't do anything about it then it's it's going to be a long night for the spartans but based on
01:08on
01:08how i i've seen the play lately i like how they're playing um you know the last game it looked

01:14louisville did a great job of shutting down kohler and cooper but that that was okay because everybody
01:19else stood up and cohen carr had another great game can cohen carr continue to play at this high
01:25level in the tournament and he's got 37 points in the two games it's not just dunking it all over
01:31the place he's knocking down the open shots and he's been a force at both ends of the court blocking
01:36shots playing great defense and um we'll see if if he continues to take his game in this great
01:43direction and uh fears at the point he's one of the best in the country he's gonna have to keep
01:48playing like it yukon's got an inside outside threat with terris reed down low and alex carabon
01:54at the perimeter and you know the birchie kid uh our stations yukon fan uh grew up in connecticut
02:00said that when yukon's got defeated this year when they get beat they get bullied can michigan
02:07state bully they can bully you yeah then now then that gets down to will the officials call it tight
02:14or not they're gonna let them play uh and play rough not just let them play but let them play
02:19rough or are they going to try to shut stuff down all right michigan and alabama wolverines back in
02:26chicago back at the united center they got assigned the same locker room they had when they were in
02:34chicago for the big 10 tournament they decide they want to gator you're you're superstitious right you
02:39believe in i can't be in some things they they decided they'd completely change things around and
02:45everybody switched up lockers so they had different lockers they also told the story i don't know if
02:50it's true but like the team manager or trainer i think it was told a story about doc rivers when

02:57was with i think it was with the celtics and they were playing the lakers in la and they lost
03:02a game in
03:02the middle of the regular season they collected a whole bunch of money a whole bunch of money and
03:07they hit it up in the ceiling panels and said we don't play him again the rest of the season
03:11we'll come back and get this cash during the nba finals and they left it there and then they made
03:19it to the nba finals and got the cash back they i don't know if they actually did it but

03:24one of the the michigan managers did something like that hid something in the ceiling panels
03:28thinking they'd be back in chicago in the march march madness so i'll have to find out if that story's
03:33true but um dusty may and nate oates know each other nate oates was the head coach at romulus
03:39when dusty may was at eastern michigan and um dusty used to go watch nate oates's practices and
03:45vice versa and i guess at one point dusty reached out to scott skiles who was a coach of the
03:50bulls
03:51and said come watch your practices for a few days nate oates heard this and said i'll drive if you'll
03:55let me come with and dusty said okay and they went and watched scott skiles bulls teams practice for
03:59four days but there's the aiden holloway question which is weird because he has now been cleared to
04:05travel out of state he didn't travel with the team if you don't know who aiden holloway was
04:09he's uh one of their guards who averages over 16 a game who got arrested about two weeks ago with
04:15two pounds of marijuana believed to be uh for uh to distribute he has not played since didn't travel
04:21with the team uh he got a corridor that's going to allow him to travel but he has to get
04:25reinstated
04:25by alabama's council that had removed him from campus and that's either pending or we don't know
04:31what that is but um at this point he may play in which case whatever let him play i don't
04:37i mean i
04:38don't even care like uh but well he's a big piece i mean you mentioned he averages just under 17
04:45points
04:45a game just under four assists a game but he shoots 44 from three-point land so that's a real
04:51threat
04:52shooter their whole team's filled with shooters man they're gonna they're gonna put up 43s tonight
04:55and you know um ironically his sister you know his sister plays at michigan aiden holloway's
05:03sister is and the wolverines still alive in the women's bracket as well but they were awfully
05:09impressive in that 90 to 65 win over texas tech now tech didn't have jt toppin in that game uh
05:15clayton safia the wolverine had this stat you tell me what you think of this
05:18in the first 10 seconds of the shot clock alabama shoots 54 behind the arc
05:25it's like loyola merriman yes which is a nightmare it wasn't for michigan fans they give up 149 points
05:33in the second round of march madness but they bam is a tempo team they um they get up i

05:41threes a game their third in ken palm's offensive rating behind purdue and illinois two teams that
05:46michigan beat but they will they are known for scoring here's what's interesting
05:51michigan is second in defensive ken palm's defensive ratings a highly respected um analyst that does the
05:57ratings seven of bama's nine losses have come against teams in the top 35 in ken palm's defensive
06:03ratings so michigan is bringing one of the better defenses they will face this year and if holloway
06:11doesn't play i wonder if michigan goes a lot of press to try and will uh wear fillion out their
06:18other guard and just try and run that kid into the ground alabama's gonna want to run and do they
06:25have
06:26the depth if michigan decides that they're okay with that and want to run with them does michigan
06:30have the depth because they don't have lj casein so the other thing that michigan did against st louis
06:36that i think they'll probably do tonight is in their three-point field goal defense
06:43they they run through and take off so if you if if you're guarding a shooter and he takes a

06:52and you contest they then they take off down the court and that's how you get a lot of fast

07:00points and a lot of easy buckets it's been very effective for them and they did that uh and
07:06their three-point defense against st louis they just ran through and turned their three-point
07:11defense into fast break points you leave yourself vulnerable to of course long rebounds under those
07:17circumstances um but here's a couple of things to pay attention to uh tonight for michigan one is
07:24elliot cadeau elliot cadeau has been great in the postseason 34 assists to 11 turnovers and the other
07:30is yaks from beyond the arc since the illinois game last eight games he's 19 of 35
07:35three-point field goal times so and you know he says he has a chip on his shoulder i know

07:43the chip on the shoulder because when he was at alabama birmingham and he put his name in the portal
07:47he said bama didn't recruit me and i wanted to i wanted to look at bama and they didn't recruit

07:53and um dusty may said actually they did recruit him don't tell him that but he's got that chip on

08:52to just play the game run your offense and run it and take your time with it feed the big

08:59and and and work the clock because if alabama works so fast and they they literally average 92 points
09:05a game um but the games they lose they don't score much and i wonder if that's because the time

09:11maybe you know maybe i i don't i'm not saying you know run the i think the princeton offense there
09:17but i mean you know can you can you work some clock at least and then because you have advantages
09:22they've got they've got size advantages over virtually everybody um you know not like the pistons but
09:28everybody in college basketball they're bigger than everybody so yeah throw it down low is is a really
09:34really effective offense they've done a nice job at entering the basketball mara's back to the basket
09:39game is really good mora's johnson's in a weird place in that i think he's i don't think he's
09:45playing poorly but it doesn't feel like he's making as much as much of an impact on the offensive end
09:49as he has but uh feedback coming in once they start letting criminals with pending charges play in
09:55terminate games i'd argue that was the beginning of the end of the decay of the beginning of the decay
09:59of societal norms that's from an unnamed texter i'm all for innocent until proven guilty but this one
10:05seems yeah yep it's up to the school though i'm not even michigan fan but what are we doing here
10:11this is crazy yeah i mean so there was a case of brandon miller at alabama who brought the weapon
10:20that was used in a murder he brought it to the scene if that kid played now the kid that

10:29the trigger didn't play but the kid that brought the weapon did i i would suspect that they're
10:33going to let holloway play and it's just weed fine well i mean that's kind of pounds of weed yeah
