00:14Phil was a storyteller.
00:16That's probably the gift I cherish the most was just how to tell a story.
00:22No one was better than Phil.
00:24He would always say, Will, don't be boring.
00:27And he certainly was not that.
00:35If you could describe Phil with just one word, what would it be?
00:39Dynamic.
00:44Looky here, looky here.
00:46Good times have come our way.
00:48I mean, this is like some kind of deal out of Hollywood.
00:52Intense.
00:53I would say passionate.
00:54All in.
00:55Your lips go into the south end of the duck.
00:58The way he looked, the way he sounded, the way he hunted, the way he loved, the way he preached.
01:03I mean, all these things were just dynamic.
01:07Welcome to the Phil days.
01:09Is that his butthole?
01:10Just don't think about it.
01:12What about it, boys?
01:13A bunch of yuppies haven't even caught a fish?
01:16Oh, shoot.
01:20Everyone has camo on and everybody happy, happy, happy.
01:24Everybody happy, happy, happy.
01:25Oh, I'm happy, happy, happy.
01:27Don't doubt that.
01:28If we learn anything about him, he is happy, happy, happy in the place where he's going.
01:33I just want to go fast.
01:35Life goes by in a flash.
01:37Living free, no looking back.
01:39I just want to go fast.
01:41Keep growing from the past.
01:43Can't slow me down.
01:45I want to go fast.
01:46Fall.
01:46Lean back.
01:48Lean right out.
01:50Go fast.
01:51Make a good time last.
01:53Yeah, I just want to go.
02:07When I die, don't cry.
02:13Phil has an announcement.
02:16Dance, sing, but don't cry when I die.
02:23Y'all, I thought we celebrated Phil's life really well.
02:26What did you think?
02:27Did you think so?
02:31When Phil passed, so many people reached out, of course, to express their sympathy and just
02:35ask how we were doing.
02:37And I think for us, of course, we were sad, but also it was a celebration.
02:41Yeah, I would say for most of his life, ever since he got his faith and understood God and
02:47had that relationship, he was ready for this day to come.
02:52Si, I loved your little shout-outs.
02:55Sorry, Si, I tried to ditch you as soon as I took over the company.
02:59You don't recognize you're going to get a rough fight.
03:05Those weren't shout-outs.
03:06He was shouting at me.
03:09He was heckling me while I was speaking.
03:11Well, hey, look, I just can't help you.
03:13I see a big, fat bear I got to poke him.
03:16He was fun to be around.
03:18He literally touched and had a very good impact on a lot of people.
03:26I feel like the Jep roast was really funny.
03:29Jep slept in the bed with Phil and Kate till he's like 14 years old.
03:37I never physically touched Phil until 2024.
03:44That was part of the moment.
03:47I couldn't help myself.
03:49The outpouring of love has been incredible.
03:52It's been incredible.
03:53Seeing people's comments and stories that we've never heard that other people have shared has been really cool.
03:58Yeah.
03:59I mean, with Pebble Phil being your grandpa, it's pretty epic.
04:02We knew how to build a duck call when we were so young.
04:05And so we learned just by his example.
04:09What if we do, like, an honoring Phil day to where we do all the things Pebble Phil loved?
04:15That would be really fun.
04:16Hey, what?
04:17You want to go watch westerns or?
04:19Yeah, that's it.
04:20The weather channel.
04:21He liked to race.
04:22We could race things.
04:24Somebody's got to pick a duck.
04:25I'm not going to be there that day.
04:27You're not going to be there?
04:28Because if y'all are going to have a Phil day, there's too much work involved.
04:32I ain't showing up.
04:33Yes, you are.
04:38Okay, I'll just throw things out.
04:40I know you know how to chat.
04:41I know you can tell a story.
04:44Yeah, you'll bother if you shut me down.
04:47I'll take it all.
04:48I'll take it all.
04:49Let me start off with what do you think people remember Phil for?
04:54Well, I think his, he had a tremendous personality that just stood out.
05:02And then whatever he did, he did the best at it.
05:07Phil was the most competitive about hunting.
05:11Who killed the most ducks?
05:13Who killed the most squirrels?
05:16Who killed the most whatever?
05:19And I loved that because he was a man.
05:25He was, he gave it all.
05:37Okay, guys, welcome to, uh, the Phil days.
05:44And we are starting out with one of our favorite things.
05:48This will be a duck picking contest.
05:55Phil could pick a duck and, oh, good, great.
05:59It didn't take him no time.
06:01I always said if Phil were a younger Phil, he would never hunt with himself.
06:05Uh, because it was, it'd be way too much testosterone.
06:09My idea of happiness is killing things.
06:20When he got out there, he was a commander and that's where duck commander came from because
06:25his buddies at the time in the early 70s said, Phil, you command those ducks.
06:31It's actually getting the feathers off of the duck.
06:34Phil always said one of his dating requirements was you had to find someone who could pick ducks.
06:45You've never picked a duck in your life?
06:46No, but I'm really good at plugging hair, human hair.
06:52This is great.
06:53You plug my nose hairs all the time.
06:55Yes, I love it.
06:55It hurts.
06:57You know, that was his number one fashion.
06:59He would probably rather kill a mylar drink than make love to Miss Kate.
07:03Oh.
07:03Whoa.
07:04I'm saying, I'm saying, I'm saying, I'm saying.
07:08No flag, that's a flag.
07:10Who says he didn't do both?
07:12Okay.
07:12Now that Si has us all in the mood, um, to pig ducks.
07:19Okay, okay.
07:20In the spirit of Miss Kate, we are going to start with the ladies.
07:25The ladies will start the competition.
07:30I do have one memory of how I feel like going ham on a duck.
07:34And it was at our school.
07:37This is food.
07:39I'm going to show you how to prepare.
07:42The duck's head has now been removed.
07:45Ooh, a little bloody.
07:46It reminded me how just the next level they can be sometimes.
07:50I don't know if that's like a generational thing or that's just them.
07:53I think it's just them.
07:57We're going to give you all five minutes, five minutes to pick the ducks.
08:01Oh, it smells so bad.
08:04You're okay.
08:06Ready, set, pick them ducks.
08:11Go, go, go.
08:12Come on, come on.
08:12Nice.
08:13Go, go, go.
08:14Nice.
08:15Come on, husbands.
08:16Coach.
08:17Coach it like you're having a baby.
08:19Is that his butthole?
08:20Just don't think about it.
08:22Good.
08:22Thanks for the encouragement.
08:23Go, go, go, go.
08:24No, I can't drink anything.
08:25Get some water.
08:26No, it smells too bad.
08:26I can't even think about it.
08:28The first thing Phil told me was about rolling.
08:32My thumb is like a roller, so I'm rolling them off there.
08:37I'm not picking them, actually.
08:38I'm just rolling them off.
08:40He did.
08:40He said, if you don't roll them, you're not doing it right.
08:43Y'all realize that Phil's watching us right now.
08:46Yeah.
08:46He is busting his gut laughing.
08:50And time.
08:52All right, everybody hold their ducks up.
08:54Elise.
08:55Rebecca.
08:56I'm impressed.
08:56Good to see you, Johnny.
08:57In the lead right now, we have Couple Mayo.
09:06Feels pretty good to win.
09:08Feels like normal.
09:09Now we will have the fellas.
09:12You will have four minutes.
09:15Four minutes.
09:15Oh, they're cutting the minutes down on you, boy.
09:18And I think by the end of this, we will figure out who the real men are, okay?
09:24Doug Pickers ready.
09:26All right, let's go, babe.
09:28And go.
09:29All right, let's go.
09:30Bill Robertson right now would say, hey, you Maggie yuppits.
09:34Thank you so much.
09:36Bill was so fast, you couldn't hardly see his hands, mate.
09:40Here come the challenges.
09:43Oh, no.
09:44Oh, no.
09:44Oh, no.
09:45Weather.
09:46Weather's coming in.
09:48Weather's coming in.
09:49The weather's coming in.
09:51The weather's coming in.
09:53Pick them down.
09:54He's coming along.
09:54I think Phil would use the term, I'm looking at a bunch of yuppies.
10:0045 seconds.
10:02Who's the man?
10:07Y'all got me holding a fan and spraying me with a water hose.
10:10We're only showing the front.
10:13Okay, and time.
10:15Good job, guys.
10:16Good job.
10:18Good job.
10:19Good job, guys.
10:20I'm confident in my ability, not in the judge's ability.
10:25There we go.
10:25That's our problem.
10:26It's the judge.
10:27Yeah, it's the problem with the judge's.
10:29And I have determined the overall winner couple in this competition, and it was very close,
10:36by the way.
10:37Team Mayo.
10:40Nice job, Mayo.
10:42Good job, Mayo.
10:43Sadie always wins everything, so it feels really nice to have this one over her.
10:49Yeah, I mean, Christian always loses to me, so it's just another one to tally on the chart.
10:55You start out here, you can either go down.
10:58See, I'm having trouble right now.
11:00Oh, okay.
11:02Uh-oh.
11:05It was a struggle, but they won it out.
11:09All right.
11:09Good job, guys.
11:13So the field day celebration, I think, is really sweet in a way to honor him, but also,
11:18we have, like, a lot of ways.
11:19Our family all have podcasts that everyone's getting on and just sharing their stories and
11:25memorializing Phil in that way, too.
11:27All right.
11:28What's up?
11:29Well, that's good, fam.
11:30We wanted to do an episode honoring Papa Phil and his legacy and his life.
11:34Look, it's a day that we all knew was coming.
11:37The outpouring was so massive, which was kind of shocking.
11:44We are celebrating the life of my older brother, Phil Robertson, the man known as the Duck Commander.
11:54He said, here's a guy that spent 95% of his life in the wilderness.
12:07Oh.
12:08The first time your dad shot, he did the same thing.
12:11I've gotten better.
12:12I mentioned to Dad and Mom, I was like, oh, just, like, my biggest regret is I never went
12:16duck hunting with him.
12:17And Dad said, he didn't want you to.
12:20And I was like.
12:21I only went hunting with him twice, okay?
12:23The first time I went, this is what he said, John Luke, you're what's called a limit extender.
12:31So you just, you sit there, you're going to add to our limit, and you just watch and observe.
12:39You know, we like to call it a ripple.
12:41His ripple.
12:42Tidal wave.
12:43Yeah.
12:44Yeah, we're not even to the ripple part of it yet.
12:47Like, his won't be a ripple for another hundred years.
12:55All right, guys, this is an honor of Phil.
12:58The three places I feel like he loved to be was church, the woods, obviously, and his recliner.
13:07How would you describe Phil's relationship with his recliner?
13:11With his recliner?
13:12His recliner.
13:14Tight.
13:15I'm a happy person.
13:18That chair is the most disgusting thing.
13:20I mean, it stinks.
13:22There's a few dog toys.
13:23It's got insects.
13:24What is a fly swatter?
13:26That chair is a health hazard.
13:29Now we're cooking with peanut oil.
13:3199% of my memories of being at their house, in my mind, he's in that recliner.
13:39It's like when a person loses something, and then you find what you lost.
13:47That makes no sense whatsoever.
13:49Oh, yeah, it does, if you think that.
13:50How is your relationship with your recliner like losing something, and then you can't find it?
13:55Because then you find it, and then you throw a party, because you found it.
13:59So we have come out with what we're going to call Phil's Grand Prix.
14:04We have fastened wheels to recliners, and we're going to race.
14:09And in the end, we will see who gets the award and the coveted thumbs up.
14:16Beautiful.
14:17Okay.
14:18Oh, no.
14:21All right, out of the way up there.
14:22Make way, make way, make way.
14:24Oh, I'm for size here.
14:25Okay.
14:26Come on in.
14:27So, what are you doing here?
14:29I'm the last man standing in the Robertson family.
14:33You think you're going to do anything?
14:34Well, okay, that's a good point.
14:36I'm like a good receiver.
14:38Always on point.
14:43Oh, my gosh.
14:45Who invited him?
14:46Don't be like that, dimples.
14:49Hey, he's my manager.
14:51You hired Philip McMillan as your manager?
14:54Well, hey, I couldn't beat him, so I bought him.
14:57What is going on with the duck boys?
15:01What are you doing?
15:02What'd that ball do to you?
15:03What, he got to deal with Tom Brady?
15:05He comes in pain.
15:06Okay.
15:07I'm going to bury the hatchet.
15:10In Willie's head.
15:12Oh, my.
15:15Look, in honor of Phil, we're going to keep the peace.
15:19All right, we're keeping the peace.
15:20How about that?
15:20We're keeping the peace.
15:22Peace is, hey, ceasefire's been signed.
15:24Okay, so we've got three recliners.
15:26We're going to have three teams.
15:27There will be pushers, and there will be a sitter.
15:30I'm sure Phil's looking down right now.
15:32He is thinking to himself, what a stupid idea that is to do.
15:37But, hey.
15:39Racers, get ready.
15:50Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.
16:00okay we will go back to position a we are back to position a phil loved his recliner it was
16:07one of
16:08his most cherished possessions he also loved racing so combine the two voila hey miss k tell
16:18me that was not my chair heading up the road within hippie girls i would say it's kind of a
16:23shock to a man's system you know when some of his stuff is out in the yard being pawned off
16:27to the
16:28local rednecks it stunk we had a garage sale they got rid of the junk i didn't consider my chair
16:35at
16:35this point to be rummage if phil wasn't in woods he would be in his recliner comfy and always have

16:53how about that now we cook up a pinot

17:19oh they run into the wall the wall of will the wall of will
17:29we've got rebecca going in reverse
17:32Hey, Rebecca's going backwards.
17:34I have to see the method.
17:36Come on, we got to catch up.
17:38In the finish line, it is looking like a runaway race.
17:43Runaway race, and the winner is Rebecca coming in second.
17:49Bella, and bring in the rear is the wind-resistant Corey.
17:54I was pounding on you, Christian.
17:57Hey, look at my feet.
17:58Yeah.
17:58Because I went barefoot.
17:59Look at the bottom.
18:00Oh, my God.
18:01Like, it was actually working out good that I was backward.
18:04Because, yeah, I got to watch everyone lose.
18:05That was awesome.
18:07Good job, guys.
18:09All right, good job, team.
18:11Rebecca, John, Reed, and Will step forward.
18:14You get the official from the recliner lean back.
18:20All right.
18:26All right, let's go get on that ice, team, boys.
18:29All right.
18:34Thank you for coming down to the river house.
18:38This is where it all began.
18:39In memory of Phil, for our Phil days, we're going to do two things.
18:43One is fishing, which Phil loved to do, obviously.
18:46But also, Phil was a great storyteller, so I want to hear your best story while you're fishing.
18:54Before Phil started a duck commander, he was a commercial fisherman on the Ouachita River.
18:58So, to me, it just made sense to take my whole family back to our roots where it all started.
19:05Catfish will score the most points because that's what we could sell when we were kids for the most money.
19:11Is this a competition?
19:13Everything's a competition.
19:15I thought this was just for fun.
19:17It's always just for fun.
19:19But also a competition.
19:21All right, pipe down.
19:24Woo-hoo!
19:25Let's go get some fish.
19:26Woo!
19:27Yeah!
19:28We just got one.
19:32Phil was the happiest when he was fishing, and he always was a storyteller.
19:40I mean, I remember coming to school, and he would be the top of the stairs, and under him
19:45was a bunch of boys listening to his stories.
19:49Oh, there's something in there.
19:51Ain't nothing there.
19:53Shoot.
19:53All right.
19:57Oh, Mom?
19:58Mom?
19:59Okay, Kate.
20:00Mom, Mom.
20:02So, the first time I ever remember coming, actually, down here to this property, came
20:06to their house.
20:06I was in fifth grade.
20:07I had met Willie the summer before at camp, and we got invited to come down here for a
20:13fish fry.
20:13So, I walk into this house, and I see Phil in person for the first time.
20:20White t-shirt, camo pants, big black beard, and he comes up to my friend and I, and he says,
20:26Have you met my boys?
20:27And we're like, yes, sir?
20:30And, um, he says, um, no lie.
20:32He says, they'll make good husbands someday.
20:36And I was like, what?
20:38Just like you.
20:40Nice cast, Bella.
20:42All right, boys.
20:43What about it?
20:44It's because of the fish.
20:46Baby!
20:46Hey, she's really in character.
20:48I like it.
20:49Anybody feel like they're about to catch some fish, boys?
20:51Yeah.
20:52She's celebrating field day right, man.
20:55Bunch of yuppies haven't even caught a fish.
20:57I actually, I'm really digging it.
21:00I've never seen someone like when their wife looks like their grandpa.
21:03That Florida boy, he's a little odd.
21:07Sadie.
21:08Hey, Sadie, flip that rod over.
21:10Don't embarrass yourself now.
21:11Turn.
21:11There you go.
21:13There you go.
21:14That has been so weird to me.
21:15There you go.
21:16You know?
21:16There you go.
21:17Don't that feel a little better?
21:18That feels a lot better.
21:19I've been trying to figure out where my finger goes.
21:24What most people don't know about Phil and fishing is this is how he paid for Duck Commander.
21:31Like, without fishing this river, this body of water, there would be no Duck Commander because
21:35he didn't have the money to buy the duck calls to bake and then ultimately to sell.
21:40It's just crazy to think that there is no Duck Commander without fish.
21:45Yo, watch this.
21:49Happy, happy, happy.
21:54Can we have a conversation real quick?
21:56Is this the birds and the bees?
21:58Something like that.
21:59The birds and the deer.
22:00What you got?
22:02We've been thinking, mainly since Phil's passing, like wanting to continue just the legacy kind
22:09of that he's left and obviously that you've left.
22:12Well, you haven't left yet, but you're still, you know, you're still.
22:15What exactly are y'all trying to say?
22:16We want to be Duckmen at Buckmen.
22:21Um, we just want to help in Subway.
22:28Well, I guess we just need to have a conversation about it.
22:32Can this be that conversation?
22:34I don't know.
22:35I wasn't prepared.
22:36I don't know if I was ready for this conversation.
22:39Here's the deal.
22:39I'm glad these guys want to be a part of Duck Commander.
22:42I think it's cool.
22:43It's part of Phil's legacy.
22:44But I'm not just going to let them join just because they've married my daughters.
22:48Hold on.
22:49They just want to be a part of the family.
22:51This is sweet.
22:52I guess we can see what y'all got.
22:54Okay.
22:55That's it?
22:56That's where it starts.
22:59Let me just say, by the time I get through with them, I think they may regret everyone
23:03to be a part of this company.
23:04It starts something you can't finish, boys.
23:09Phil Robertson knows more about the Ouachita River than the Army Corps of Engineers who
23:15quote-unquote designed it because it was his lifeblood.
23:19It was everything to him.
23:22They used to bass fish the same way duck on it.
23:25We would go and be at the lamp at 4 a.m.
23:29And, like, we'd be leaving at 7 that night.
23:33One thing that is so funny now, like, us having kids, it's like you can't imagine them doing
23:40the things that we did.
23:42But at the same time, I want them to be like that.
23:45Like, the other day I was looking at Honey, I was like, oh, my gosh, you need to be outside
23:49more.
23:49You need to get dirty more.
23:50Or even just being a country kid from Louisiana and, like, building forts outside, like, I
23:55really want to make sure I pass that down.
24:06How you feeling out here, Boss Hog?
24:08Bringing back all the memories?
24:09It is.
24:10It's like when I was a kid, but there's 20 more people here.
24:14Thinking about, you know, I'm about to birth a child, the generations will continue on.
24:19You can kind of feel some pressure, in a sense, to be like, how are you to carry on his
24:24legacy?
24:25Did you catch any?
24:26I did not.
24:29But I looked the part.
24:30I kind of wish I had a little bit more of the outdoorsy in me.
24:34But I do feel like...
24:35It ain't all that.
24:37I know.
24:38I think I have a lot of other things in me that he...
24:41Oh, for sure.
24:42I think people like Phil, you know, it's hard to, you just ain't gonna have another one like
24:47that.
24:48But you can probably see it in multiple people, the different traits and stuff that he passed
24:55on.
24:55It's kind of the way legacy goes, you know?
24:58I think in Sadie, I see the boldness, especially for her faith.
25:02Because a lot of people aren't outspoken about their faith.
25:04And most people never want to get up and talk in front of anyone.
25:08Yeah, he did a lot of big things.
25:10But I think the most significant thing was just how he loved God and he loved his neighbor.
25:13I appreciate how you're carrying on his legacy and bringing us out here.
25:17It's really fun.
25:18Well, he was the real deal.
25:21He taught me a lot, so...
25:24Whoa, whoa.
25:26Right there.
25:27Right there.
25:29Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
25:30I got a guard.
25:31Are you kidding?
25:32Oh, shoot.
25:33No.
25:35Dang it.
25:36Yeah, that guard was that big.
25:38Dang it.
25:39Growing up, we were always fishing.
25:41And you get Phil in a boat, on a river, he could explain all the nuances of life, whether
25:48you ask for it or not.
25:49One time I was fishing with Paul Phil.
25:52He said the words I'll never forget.
25:54Better a day full of fish.
25:58Than a lifetime of crabs.
26:01Oh, my goodness.
26:03I'll tell you right now, there's not a doctor in this state who could give you a better exhaustive
26:09list of every venereal disease than Phil Robertson.
26:14It's syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes.
26:17Wow.
26:18I'm like, I don't think so.
26:21I think our culture needs more grandpas riding along with grandson and girlfriend.
26:29Yeah, it's good.
26:30It's good.
26:32Why did he, why was he so passionate about this?
26:35It was a big fear.
26:37He didn't want anybody to.
26:38Uncle Si, when did he start saying stuff like that?
26:41He's always been, you know, whatever was in his mind come out of his mouth.
26:48Wait, you got one.
26:49You got one.
26:50Watch out.
26:50Watch out.
26:50He is a kid.
26:51Oh, my God.
26:52He's a kid.
26:52Oh, my God.
26:53He's a kid.
26:54He's a kid.
26:57Winner of the fishing contest, John Shepard.
27:03Yeah.
27:05Best storyteller.
27:07I'm going to Sadie Rock.
27:10Went all out on that one.
27:14What do you miss most about, Phil?
27:18Probably number one would be the food, the hamburgers he cooked.
27:23I'm serious.
27:24It's his steady force.
27:26You always knew where he was going to be.
27:28You knew he was going to be in that recliner if you needed him.
27:31That's one of the main things you miss about Phil, them hamburgers?
27:34It's a hamburger.
27:35The thing I miss most is in duck season because, I mean, we've hunted together for over 50 years.
27:43So, obviously, I'm missing that.
27:47So, I said he's going to miss his hamburgers.
27:51So, I said, you know, you're going to miss most about your last living sibling.
27:57Them burgers were good.
28:04Ladies and gentlemen, this is a big moment.
28:08Y'all know that Phil hated beavers, so, uh...
28:10With a passion.
28:12With a passion.
28:13Big passion.
28:15Something ain't right here.
28:16Where'd the water go?
28:17I don't know.
28:18In order to attract ducks, we have a levy system to hold pools of water.
28:25No water, no ducks.
28:27Phil hated the beaver and the beaver dams.
28:30He just despised them because they stopped his hunting.
28:34It was a battle.
28:35I see beaver signs all out in here.
28:38Him buck-toothed rascals.
28:39Who do you think was winning the battle?
28:42At that time, it might have been the beaver.
28:45But it wasn't that he didn't try.
28:48The beaver war.
28:50No matter how many you get rid of, they just keep coming.
28:53Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
28:58Yeah!
29:15Hey, the boy hated beavers.
29:17Yeah, with all of his being.
29:20So now we can get on to it and let the show begin.
29:23We're going to blow that beaver dams to hell.
29:27In honor of Phil Robinson.
29:29All right.
29:30Here we go.
29:32Three, two, one.
29:51Phil hated beavers, but he loved explosives, so it was sort of a trade-off.
30:00I've always wondered, was his hatred of the beaver just a chance for him and Uncle Si to blow stuff
30:06up?
30:11We're the best thing ever.
30:13We're the best thing ever.
30:14The best thing ever.
30:15Hey, that was for you, big brother.
30:22All right, guys.
30:23It all comes down to this.
30:26Phil was passionate about a lot of things, but probably none more than the burger.
30:32So this will be the Phil cook-off.
30:35Believe me, they won't be as good.
30:38But you could be third.
30:40Are you second?
30:41Are you second?
30:42Phil.
30:45So, uh...
30:46Wow.
30:48He's not here to argue, so, uh...
30:53When you complete your burger, just go ahead and bring it over.
30:56We want them hot and we want them fresh.
30:58Your best things.
30:59All right.
31:00Start your fires.
31:01Let's go.
31:02Get them burgers on.
31:06Take your time.
31:07We don't want to eat crap.
31:08We're good.
31:09I think everyone knows that Miss Kay is a really great cook, but Phil was a good cook, too.
31:14His burgers were legendary.
31:16Oh, yeah.
31:17He set off a mini-smoke alarm making those burgers.
31:21Well, when you're cooking hamburgers and you want to cook them right, you have to have the fire so hot
31:28that you will have a smoke-filled room.
31:33Ty, out of this family, who makes the best burger?
31:36Phil.
31:37They had to be the best.
31:39He made it.
31:40Always.
31:41They had to be exactly the certain way, cooked a certain length of time, and he just...
31:49Nobody could do it but him.
31:51Let's eat, boys.
31:53Let's get on these burgers.
32:01Pebble Phil had some legendary burgers.
32:03It was always kind of like, who has a better burger, Pebble Phil or my dad?
32:08And the family was kind of split on this, and so...
32:11I actually never got to try a Phil burger.
32:13I know.
32:14So maybe today...
32:14I've eaten a lot of Willy burgers.
32:17Do you think that's too thin?
32:20If not, we can throw another one.
32:22I mean...
32:23So, Bella, what we got?
32:24It is a homemade bun by me, homemade bacon jam, and a homemade special sauce.
32:31Special, homemade, special...
32:33I do love a bacon jam.
32:36It would be really sweet to win this one, because I love to cook, and when I was growing
32:42up, my grandparents loved to teach me how to cook.
32:44Also, what did Pebble Phil tell you every single time he would see you?
32:48He says, Bella, cooking for you, and I say, yes, sir, and he says, is it good?
32:52And I'm like, it's good.
32:54Our strategy is, Christian loves his burgers, but it's never enough.
32:59He always wants to eat, like, five of them.
33:01And so we're doing a double patty Willy Burger.
33:05It's called the Big Willy.
33:09Do you like your steaks medium well?
33:12No, medium plus.
33:13It's not medium well.
33:14They always ask you, the waitress does, how do you want your steak, sir?
33:19And I said, hey, I want it medium plus.
33:21Medium plus.
33:22I've never heard it.
33:23I've dated a few girls who were medium plus.
33:27We're trying to go outside box, because I know typical burger is not going to win this
33:33competition.
33:34So we're doing hot water, cornbread, duck, and five strips.
33:40Mary-Kate and Jean-Luc, I would think they'd have traditional, except for Jean-Luc is way
33:44crazier than Mary-Kate.
33:47All right.
33:49Pebble Phil put a lot of details on the small things, but he also went big.
33:54And that's what we're doing here, literally.
33:56How long?
33:58Until it's ready.
34:00Good answer.
34:01The burger that we're making is a breakfast burger.
34:04We're using a waffle bun, and we're having eggs, bacon, cheese, and syrup on top.
34:15Here's what I know about Will.
34:17He likes to eat.
34:18You never trust a skinny chef.
34:20No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:22Is that why you were never a chef?
34:23Oh, that's why I am a chef.
34:25Yeah.
34:25He's just the eater.
34:26Couldn't trust him.
34:28Couldn't trust him.
34:28I don't know if this really embodies Pebble Phil.
34:31We just had a really fun idea for a burger.
34:33It'd be a great burger.
34:35I was worried most about Rebecca and Jarmie, but...
34:39I saw their burger.
34:41Oh.
34:45Can I help you?
34:45I think I'm okay, chef.
34:47I think, hey, chef?
34:48Hey, this is nice.
34:52I'm enjoying Phil Dave.
34:54This is huge.
34:55This is freaking beautiful.
34:58Look at that.
34:59Look at that cook.
35:00That's all my freaking baby.
35:02All right, honey.
35:04All right, take this.
35:05All right.
35:06All right.
35:07So we have a take on Willy Burgers.
35:11The only problem with Willy Burgers is it's just never enough.
35:14We doubled it up because they're just that good.
35:17Okay.
35:22It's quiet.
35:23It's quiet.
35:26Can you see?
35:28What?
35:30It is a little light.
35:31On flavor.
35:33Say it could use a little more seasoning.
35:35But other than that, it's a good burger.
35:36Overall, it's a good burger.
35:38Yeah.
35:38Thank you, chef.
35:39Thank you, chef.
35:40Oh, that stinks.
35:41I really tried.
35:42And you liked it.
35:45Baby, I'm not hard to please.
35:46You know that.
35:47Uh-oh.
35:48Christian's not looking good in there.
35:50Christian's crying.
35:56We're doing double.
35:57Double.
35:57Double.
35:58Okay.
35:58We're doing double.
35:59Oh, this is going to crack.
36:01I can't already tell.
36:02Actually, Willy's a lot like Phil.
36:05Phil loves to cook.
36:06Mm-hmm.
36:06Willy loves to cook.
36:08Food is one of the best teaching tools that there is.
36:12That's what I'm talking about.
36:13You better believe it.
36:14But if everything goes south, there are no chicken nuggets, no big, tall Coca-Colas and fries.
36:22What then?
36:23Also, just the carrying on a tradition.
36:25Willy really loves to carry those traditions on like Phil did.
36:29There's some fine stuff that grows out here in this swamp.
36:33Pass me another frog.
36:36This is it.
36:38Here comes the presentation.
36:39Here is our burger.
36:41Wow.
36:43Homemade?
36:44Fun, bacon jam, and special sauce.
36:49Holy cow.
36:50Okay.
36:51We love a good holy cow.
36:53We got a burger ready, boys.
36:55Okay.
36:56Wait, what?
36:57Wow.
36:57What do we have here?
36:59Holy Trinity.
37:01Wow.
37:02So basically, three of Phil's favorite things.
37:05The burgers are made out of duck.
37:08You got shrimp.
37:09Five shrimp?
37:10The burgers are made out of duck?
37:12Duck and pork, yeah.
37:13Mm-kay.
37:14It's like having a meal at Peppa Phil's house.
37:17I ate a lot of meals at Peppa Phil's house.
37:19I never saw that one.
37:21No, I ain't ever had.
37:23We're down to the Robertson younger and the Robertson older.
37:27This is just not going great.
37:29It's not melting?
37:30No, I didn't really consider how dang thick it was.
37:33Time out.
37:34Abby's pouring syrup.
37:36Hold on.
37:36Burger ready.
37:38Oh, my God.
37:39All right.
37:40So what we have here, a breakfast burger.
37:43You have cheese.
37:45Of course.
37:46Then your burger.
37:47Bacon.
37:47Oh, yeah.
37:48With two waffle buns and some syrup drizzled on it.
37:51Oh, yeah.
37:51Holy dabby.
37:52Hey.
37:54Dad just gave that the head nod.
37:57The eyebrow head nod is similar to a thumbs up.
38:00Just need one bun.
38:03Because everything past the top bun is incredible.
38:06Oh, my God.
38:08You drank the syrup.
38:10Oh, wait.
38:11What?
38:12What in the world?
38:13What?
38:13You are your father's son.
38:15We thought in honor of Phil, since he always went big, to go as big as we could go.
38:21That's big.
38:21This is go big or go home.
38:24This is go big or go home.
38:25If you ate that, you may have to go home.
38:27You ain't going to make it run.
38:29That's good.
38:30Mm.
38:31That's a good one.
38:32It's really good.
38:32Holy cow.
38:33The meat's real good because the smoke, you can taste the smoke from the fire.
38:38Claim.
38:38A statement that is shocking but also is kind of good is the essence of Phil.
38:45And I think we captured the essence of Phil with our burger.
38:49This was harder than I thought it would be.
38:51But we have come up with who we think won the contest.
38:56So.
38:59Bell and Jacob.
39:01Yeah.
39:03We won.
39:04We won.
39:06I'm proud.
39:07This was a good win.
39:08Yeah.
39:09And we won duck plucking.
39:10We won Phil death.
39:14All right.
39:15Here we go.
39:16So are you going to say the prayer for us tonight?
39:18Yeah, I can.
39:19Father, we thank you for all the blessings of life, especially Father with Phil and Kay.
39:25We know that you called him home.
39:27We're glad for it.
39:28Okay?
39:29He's had his time on this earth.
39:30Be with Kay and give her a long life and joy and peace.
39:36We ask this prayer through Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
39:39Amen.
39:39Amen.
39:40All right.
39:41Let's get on these burgers.
39:42Let's get on that chicken.
39:45When my dad got to the final moments of his life, he started doing things he had never done before.
39:52He told me he loved me more than I've ever heard him say that in my entire life.
39:56Yeah.
39:56I remember the first day I walked out and my wife said, well, how'd that go?
40:01I was like, well, he told me he loved me.
40:02He didn't really have to tell me.
40:04I mean, he had proven his love just by the way our relationship went.
40:10You don't know when your last day is going to be.
40:12You know, your last day could be today.
40:14You don't always get to know when someone's about to pass.
40:18And I feel like I'm so grateful for all the times we had.
40:24What do you think people remember Phil for?
40:29Legacy be to you.
40:32They're learning to be together.
40:41Marriage is a fight.
40:44Togetherness is a fight.
40:46But most people won't fight.
40:49They give up.
40:55Don't give up.
40:59Lord of the Rings.
41:00Hey, ain't no big thing.
41:03Wow.
41:05Let's see, Miss Kay.
41:06We've been running together since we were teenagers.
41:11The old blue Chevrolet, side and the back.
41:15You have cooked me many a good meal.
41:18From your loins came four healthy, godly men.
41:23You are my best friend.
41:25And I love you dearly.
41:27And I'm going to be with you for the long haul until they put me in the ground.
41:32Good?
41:33Perfect.
41:34I'm sorry to say I didn't have that when we first married.
41:38Oh, it's okay.
41:39Hey.
41:41Yeah.
41:42Keep it together.
41:44Keep it together.
41:44Keep it together.
41:44So by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, again, husband and wife.
41:50Dad, you may kiss your bride.
41:52Yeehaw!
41:52And that's what I'm talking about, Jack.
41:56Woo!
42:01Most people in the world say, when you die, you're done.
42:06It's over.
42:08We fear death.
42:11But as a son or daughter of God, you shouldn't fear it.
42:14You should look forward to it.
42:17It's the beginning of your eternal life.
42:24If you just trust in what he says, and you do what is right, and do what...
