00:06Oh, breaking news friend of mine. I kid you not. I literally had a text chain with him a couple
00:11days ago. The New York Mets have officially signed Tommy Pham to a minor league contract,
00:17which now begs the question. Oh, what? I'm sorry. What? This is insane. Okay. This makes a lot of
00:22sense. Very quickly, this makes a lot of sense. The Mets want stability. They want certainty a
00:26fit for their outfield. They know that outside of what they have, of course, men's right now,
00:30they really don't have that stability because Mike Tuchman's out with injury. Tommy Pham,
00:35I literally just saw training running 26 miles per hour at the age of 38. The guy's a bulldog. Okay.
00:42He's a straight shooter. Love Tommy. Had a great time interacting with him at the 2023 season with
00:47the Mets. He was the most clutch hitter for the Mets in 2023. He was literally the most viable
00:52option for them when they needed someone to come up late in the ball game up until he was treated
00:56the
00:56Arizona Diamondbacks for a teenage prospect at that deadline. Fast forward three years later and the
01:01New York Mets have signed the 38-year-old Tommy Pham. I can't believe I'm saying that. What an
01:06awesome breaking news announcement to share today. Tommy, don't expect too much contactability. He's
01:11going to be a guy that's going to be fairly juggling high with the offense. Again, he's almost 40 years
01:15of age. He knows his role. He's going to be in a platoon setting. But what I love most about
01:19Tommy Pham,
01:20this goes back to his remarks when he got traded by the Mets last year. Pardon me in 2023. He
01:24stayed the
01:24following that the core of position players that he worked with was the least hardworking
01:30group of players he'd ever been a part of his entire major league career. That's a bold statement,
01:34but Tommy, that's 100% accurate one way or another in his eyes. Fast forward, I'm really curious to see
01:40and hear what Tommy's opinion is going to be this time around now knowing that it's a completely
01:45different look team. It's a completely different core with the exception of Lindor. And now he again
01:50is going to just be a grizzled veteran trying to make himself known, trying to be impactful,
01:55trying to be someone that again could potentially impact this Mets team at limited sample sizes. So
01:59especially with Mike Talkman now out for the next number of months, sadly, due to that unfortunate knee
02:04injury that he now has, the door is open for someone like Tommy Pham to be given an opportunity
02:09on this Mets bench, get an off start maybe here or there in the corner. I feel if the Mets
02:13really want to go there.
02:14But more than anything, it's just more protection for the Mets. It never hurts to have that. And Tommy
02:20Pham showed his worth and proved his worth here in New York a couple years ago. Wouldn't shock me
02:24if in a pinch he does the exact same thing again. Mets fans, let us know your thoughts. Tommy Pham,
02:28back to the New York Mets this time on a minor league one-year deal. We'll see what he can
02:32do for
02:32the Mets. He'll be with the team right away if he'll be beginning the year in AAA to be determined.
02:36But thank you all so much for watching as we had ourselves an amazing show here breaking down.
02:41Getting you set for Mets opening day here. And my final prediction for today is that the New York
02:48Mets are going to win this game against Paul Skeens. I think the Mets are going to win this one
02:52by a final
02:53score today of 4-3. We'll see what happens, obviously. They don't win, that's okay. A lot
02:59more games to be had. Let us know your final score predictions in the comments down below,
03:03everybody. Don't hesitate. And thank you so much for hitting that like and subscribe button here for
03:07the New York Post Sports YouTube channel and their socials. And I'll see you guys real soon from the
03:11ballpark all throughout the year at City Field. This is Tyler Ward, aka Wardy, signing out. Let's go Mets.
