00:16the other thing is the Mets have been doing some good things on the field.
00:19They've been hitting better. They've been pitching better.
00:23As a team, the Mets have the fourth most home runs in the second half right now.

00:31It's hard to wrap my head around.
00:33I had to look at the stat and be like, wait, what?

00:43They've been hitting .244 on average since the All-Star break, right?
00:47That's just a hitting.
00:48I can go through guys who've been hitting well.

00:52Lindor has been better.
00:53This is in this 12-game stretch we've seen.
00:55He's 31 for 108, seven homers, 12 extra base hits, 17 runs scored, right?
01:01Bichette has been much better, hitting for .304, two homers, 12 runs scored.
01:06Carson Bench, 29 for .95, .305 average, three homers, eight extra base hits.
01:10You're seeing guys produce at a level.
01:12We didn't even talk about the pitching yet.
01:14We haven't even talked to the pitching yet.
01:16Nolan McClain, right?
01:18Four quality starts recently since the All-Star break.
01:22We've got Senga, my boy.
01:25He's looked good.
01:26He's got himself three saves.
01:29He's five appearances, no runs, two walks, seven strikeouts.
01:35You're seeing some good performances across the board in guys who've been put in different situations.
01:40Senga's a guy you've got to talk about and give Andy Green credit for that.
01:43The Mets are looking at him.
01:44And, look, we understand this is last chance pitching for Kodai Senga.
01:48Like, we've got to call him, this is last chance pitching.
01:51We've got to call it what it is here.
01:53But he's in a position, we talked about this in the last episode, you and I both say, well, hey,
01:57maybe he can put him in high leverage situations.
02:00Maybe because he doesn't have to go through the rotation multiple times.
02:02He can succeed here.
02:04Early returns.
02:05No Devin Williams.
02:07But my boy's looking good again.
02:10So, you've got to credit, one, Andy Green is what I'm saying here.
02:14And also players who are starting to execute in the field and we're seeing things that we had not seen
02:18in the beginning of the season.
02:20Like the Mets getting extra base hits.
02:21The Mets taking extra bases.
02:23Playing well in the base pass.
02:24Solid defense?
02:25I didn't even talk about defense.
02:26Right?
02:27When's the last time we complained about the Mets' defense?
02:29Been all right.
02:32So, players got to execute.
02:34Managers have to put them in situations to succeed.
02:36I think we're seeing a lot of that with the Mets thus far.
02:39Particularly in these last 12 games.
02:41Oh, 100%.
02:42It's been great to see, obviously, the offense break out the way it has.
02:45I mean, the fact that the Mets have won neither past 12 games.
02:48But there's been a pretty steady balance of having both offense and pitching.
02:52It's like, oh, where was this?
02:53When obviously it could have mattered in the first half.
02:55But I understand.
02:56This is how the cookie crumbles, okay?
02:57We're not allowed to have when we want it.
03:00It just happens when it happens.
03:02But regardless, even with guys like, for example, A.J. Ewing.
03:05He's been ice cold for the New York Mets as of late.
03:07Doesn't matter.
03:08I'm not worried about him in the slightest.
03:10Nor should UB.
03:10He's a 21-year-old rookie who's been a phenom more often than not for the Mets.
03:14And when he doesn't hit, he's making up for it defensively.
03:16Yep.
03:17Carson Menge, defense.
03:18I mean, how many highlight reel catches and throws from right field do you need to see
03:21to get a clue that he may F around and actually win this year's NL Rookie of the Year award?
03:25Like, he's just getting better and better and better.
03:28Lindor, since literally post-All-Star break, has like a 900 or so OPS.
03:32He's very much back to where we expected.
03:34He's going to finish the year probably 800 or so OPS, a 255, 260 average, very normal
03:40Lindor offensive numbers.
03:41Now, defensively and base running, I still have my levels of skepticism like others.
03:47You know, he just had a massive base running blunder the other day.
03:49He made up for it.
03:50But it's like, OK, it's like, how many times do we got to do this?
03:53You know, where it's like a Mark Vientos against the Phillies and the NLDS back in 2024
03:59where he's having costly hours, but he's making up for it with bombs right after.
04:03So it's like, OK, I'm like, he's evening it out, basically.
04:06But it's like, that's still not good either.
04:09So Lindor, you know, jury's still out when it comes to his future defensively at shortstop
04:13versus maybe moving to second for next season.
04:16We'll talk more about that when the time's right.
04:17But I'm very encouraged with what the Mets have been doing.
04:20And they're just playing loose fun baseball.
