Scientists are working on creating a star to solve infinite energy.
Transcript
00:00Could humans ever build a star here on Earth? Well we've actually been trying to since the 1950s
00:06because star power is what would really give us unlimited energy. Now nuclear fusion is what
00:12powers stars. That's when a star's immense gravity forces together subatomic particles
00:19that don't actually want to be together and that releases a huge amount of energy.
00:23To make your own nuclear fusion then you actually have to kind of mimic a star
00:28so that's not easy. However scientists have been able to refine this process
00:33using a type of machine called a Takamak and the trick there is to sustain nuclear fusions such
00:40that you're getting out a lot more energy than you need to get the process started and keep it going.
00:47And in recent years reactors have actually broken some records and we're on the right track and at
00:54this point almost 40 countries are involved in some way in advancing the science of nuclear fusion.
01:01So while the world doesn't run on an artificial star just yet in a few decades maybe we'll see a
01:07huge
01:07breakthrough.
