00:01Hi, my name's Aaron and I'm the Associate Product Marketing Manager working on ColdSept Saga
00:07and I'm here today with the localization producer Nobu, one of our guys from QA, Stephen, and our PR manager,
00:14Kit
00:14and we're here to talk to you about how to play the new ColdSept Saga demo
00:18which just came out today on Xbox Live Marketplace.
00:23So what we're going to show you first is how to set up a multiplayer demo.
00:29On this demo we've included two different maps and we're going to start out with the more simple map, Santana
00:36Village
00:36because we don't want this match to go on for too long.
00:41What we've done is we've pre-configured four different player avatars for you to choose from
00:47and we have four different preset decks of cards which we call books.
00:52and what Nobu did was he balanced all four of these books so that no matter what type of creatures
00:59or books you want to play with, with different types of creatures, you can still beat anyone else.
01:06So each of us are choosing different books here at the Offset.
01:10Now the game itself, ColdSept Saga, the purpose is to basically defeat your foes
01:17by collecting a preset amount of total magic points or TG
01:23and once we jump into the board we're going to show you exactly what that means and how to go
01:29about doing that.
01:29The easiest way to think of ColdSept Saga is it's a game where you're going to want to conquer territories
01:36and you do that by placing creatures on territories, leveling them up
01:42and when your enemies land on your territories, you can either beat them in battle and take tolls from them
01:49or they can decide not to battle with you and pay you a toll.
01:54So at first draw here, when you start the game, or every roll even, you first draw a card.
02:02You can get either creatures, spells, or items to wield in battle.
02:07And our first player actually placed an air creature in an air territory
02:13and this player here is placing a fire creature, the creeping flame, onto a fire territory.
02:19Now when you place a creature on a territory of the same element, like a fire creature on a fire
02:27territory,
02:28you get a boost to your hit points for the most part.
02:32Most creatures allow that to happen.
02:34So this player here can either choose to go to that territory with the creeping flame
02:40or, as he's doing, he's going to a water territory and he's going to place a different type of creature
02:46there.
02:47Now we're going to talk to Steven about what his strategies are while playing here.
02:53Well, my opening strategy is usually to grab as many territories as you can, if possible,
02:59because based on the game where it's a roll of the dice and where you're going to land,
03:02you can't really plan out where you're going to end up.
03:06So my strategy is usually to grab as much territory as possible and try and hold those territories.
03:12Great.
03:13And Nobu takes a decidedly different approach to conquering his friends in this game.
03:18What do you like to do?
03:19Oh yeah, I kind of go contrary to Steven over here, though, but you know,
03:24I like owning specific land areas, which I think has a vantage point overall.
03:31And I kind of like concentrating on those specific lands by leveling them up
03:35so that at least I have something that I can say is sort of like a cornerstone
03:39to get my strategy moving and everything.
03:42So yeah, I describe one certain or two certain areas and kind of build them up from there.
03:47And it's always a pain when Nobu does that because you land on him when you least want to
03:52and you spend the most amount of tolls for it.
03:56And it looks like here we're deciding whether or not to go into battle.
04:01We have the option of either going into battle or paying a toll.
04:05Now, this player has a couple of creatures that can fight,
04:09but that down arrow indicates that they're not as powerful,
04:13and so we're just deciding to pay out the fee.
04:16Finally, what's going on here is one of the greatest spells in the game is called the Magic Bolt.
04:23It deals 20 damage to any creature on the board that allows to be attacked by spells,
04:29and it just killed somebody's giant rat.
04:32And finally here we're going into battle.
04:34Now, really quickly, because Player 2 has a territory next to this,
04:40he gets what's called a support effect, and he gets plus 10 to his strength.
04:45So his fighter is actually 10 points stronger than he would have been
04:50if he did not own the land looked next to that.
04:53And so now, because he has conquered that territory and has two lands together,
04:59their tolls both go up.
05:03Within the game itself, there are close to 500 cards.
05:08Can you talk a little bit about these, Nobu?
05:11Yeah, sure.
05:12Pretty much the card varieties are pretty much reminiscent from some of the previous series,
05:18but we do have basically some new cards along the process.
05:22To kind of make it really general, we kind of have three different categories.
05:26The creature cards are the creatures that you summon on the board.
05:29You got item cards, which you kind of equip during battle.
05:33And you also have spell cards, which actually is sort of like crux to actually the strategy portion of the
05:39game
05:39where you can cast different kinds of spells with different effects.
05:41So you kind of combine all these different kinds of cards together
05:45to kind of make your own personal deck.
05:47And yeah, try and see if you can win as much matches as possible from there.
05:52Great. Thanks, Nobu.
05:53And everybody can see all of these cards.
05:57There are 486 in total, over two dozen maps in the full game.
06:04And all of this will be coming out exclusively on the Xbox 360 in February of 2008.
