A former high street bank will be redeveloped into a mixed use building. Council planners say it will help bring a vacant site back into use.

00:01Plans to convert a former bank in Chapel Allerton into a shop and housing have been
00:06approved by Leeds City Council. The building on Harrogate Road, previously used by Nat West,
00:11will be turned into a retail unit with apartments above and behind. The branch closed as part of a
00:17wider program of bank closures and the site has since been vacant. Planning officers say the
00:23development will bring the building back into use and support the vitality of the area.
00:27The scheme includes multiple flats alongside the shop space, with the council approving a change
00:34of use to allow the redevelopment to proceed. An estimated 26,000 people currently call the
00:41Chapel Allerton area home.
