00:10A dynamic forward who wore the famous number seven shirt between 1971 and 1977,
00:18Keegan helped transform the Reds into one of Europe's most dominant forces under Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.
00:26During his six seasons at Anfield, he made over 300 appearances and scored 100 goals
00:33while winning three first division titles, two UEFA Cups, an FA Cup and Liverpool's first ever European Cup in 1977
00:43before departing for Hamburg in Germany.
00:48Kevin Keegan was remembered for his relentless work rate on the pitch, infectious enthusiasm
00:54and the ability to inspire those around him, which made him a firm favourite on the Cup.
01:01His partnership with John Toshak became one of the most feared strike combinations in English football,
01:07while his influence helped lay the foundations for Liverpool's era.
01:11Liverpool described Keegan as a legend of Liverpool, whose contribution to the club will never be forgotten.

01:28My thoughts today at this initial time, so soon after getting the news, is of heartbreak.
01:36I've seen how Kevin reinvigorated the city and the football club together in the early 80s when I was a
01:43supporter.
01:45And then I was lucky enough to be part of the group of players he inherited when he'd done exactly
01:50the same in the 90s.
01:51He reinvigorated the football club, but the city once again.
01:54And it's such a tough time, really, because he wasn't just the manager to us players.
02:03He's like a father figure to us.
02:06You know, our family life, what things we'd done away from the football club was just as important.
02:14And, you know, I was the other day he arrived as a manager, and then I was the other day
02:19he left.
02:20And that day was hard to take when he left us, the dressing room was heartbroken.
02:26And so today is a day of sombre realism.
02:34You're very emotionally charged.
02:36You want to remember the good times, but you just think, you know, it's such a sad day.
02:44They talk about the same.
02:46No one's had any individuals bigger than any football club.
02:49And that is rightly so.
02:51But if ever anyone came close to that, it was Kevin, because of what he'd achieved.
