00:01Say it loud, say it proud. Us Brits love the costas.
00:05We love Bedrock!
00:07You're here in the sun, lap it up.
00:09We're living the dream, I'll see ya!
00:10Well, maybe not quite that loud, Nathan, but we are.
00:14And with over 300 days of that glorious sunshine a year,
00:17it sure beats the cold and grey of the old UK.
00:21Ah, this is a lie.
00:22Living that dream can be blooming hard graft.
00:26Misty!
00:27My life, you're right.
00:28Stress level through the roof.
00:31But at the end of the working day...
00:33Girl power!
00:34Girl power!
00:35Come on, Sam!
00:35Forward!
00:36Booyah!
00:37The quality of life on the costas...
00:40We did it!
00:42...is priceless.
00:43Cheers!
00:45Peace and love.
00:46Cheers.
00:46That's why there will always be...
00:49And this is my mate Franny.
00:50Hiya, Franny.
00:51Brilliant cocktails.
00:52Happy vibe.
00:53Sun, sea, sand.
00:55Bargain-loving Brits in the sun.
00:58Woo!
01:00Today on the Costas...
01:03I'm on my last five kilo bag of chips.
01:06Potato panic at John's last supper.
01:08And I've got another booking just coming now.
01:11We need to get enough speed up to be able to go about, you see.
01:14Call the Costa Coast Guard.
01:16Simon's in deep water.
01:17Whoa, it's gone.
01:18Of course, I'm still aiming for that number one spot.
01:20And Val's dialling up the dazzle to buy some bumper sales.
01:24I need to keep pushing and pushing.
01:33Right, what we want to do for the bar for the customers so it looks good, I want us to
01:38get a couple of bunches.
01:39I like this, it's beautiful.
01:41Saying it with flowers on the Costa del Sol.
01:44Are these with the red?
01:46Chipiona John and his wife Adriana are gearing up for a blooming big night.
01:50I want it to be extra special because it's our last day and I want the customers to see us
01:55going out with a big bang.
01:57We're going to close the restaurant to have some quality time, so we're going to have three months off to
02:02be with the family.
02:03I just need to chill out and relax now.
02:08What we do, we open the full length of summer, and then we have a break in winter.
02:13December, January, February, we're closed.
02:16But this year, we're so tired, we thought we'd pull it a month earlier.
02:21Do you want them as two separates on the bar, or do you want...
02:24Together.
02:24..to put together?
02:25She'll put them together and re-wrap them.
02:28Because I've known Stephanie for 20 years, I'm going to try and wangle a discount.
02:33Everyone's a winner, baby.
02:35Ay, muchas gracias.
02:36It's only €10 going very good.
02:39€10, there you go, I got €10.
02:42Gracias.
02:42Saved a couple of quid.
02:44Blooming bargain, John.
02:45Gracias, Stephanie.
02:46Gracias.
02:48Tonight's final big service has one key mission for this frugal Yorkshireman.
02:52See you, John.
02:53He needs to sell all the food in the restaurant.
02:56We're closing tonight until March.
02:58Where are you?
02:59Yeah.
03:00Right, and here we are.
03:03Get the keys out.
03:06And in we go.
03:08The end of the season finishes really the end of October.
03:11Morning, Peter.
03:12But we soldier on another month, but I am still going to prep today.
03:16Everything fresh for 100 people.
03:20It is hard, I'm knackered.
03:23We're really looking forward to a big break and we've worked so hard.
03:27We wake up at five every morning.
03:30Some nights in summer, I'm getting in at one o'clock in the morning.
03:33So now we've got three months off.
03:34I think Adriana will be emotional.
03:36She'll have a tear in her eye, I think.
03:38Just out of sheer happiness.
03:44It's the last time that I flex my muscles and carry all the terrace out.
03:49I can feel myself tiring now.
03:51The restaurant's so busy.
03:53The hustle and bustle of a working day.
03:56People don't realise the preparation.
03:59I'll let Adriana work her magic with her flowers.
04:04Of course, she'll die if I touch them.
04:06I think we're in for a big night tonight.
04:09People think it's strange that I'm closing when we're so busy,
04:12but you just can't do it day in, day out for a year, especially at my time now.
04:16I've got 10, 20, 30, 40.
04:2040 kilos of potatoes, which I will peel and chip before we open.
04:27They'll all be ready for four o'clock.
04:29That means John will need plenty of customers to chomp through them.
04:32Otherwise, that final profit will be taking a battery.
04:36That's it. I think we're getting there now.
04:39My potato peeler's ready.
04:41Let's crack on.
04:49Don't turn just yet. Keep going out.
04:51Which way do you want me to go? This way here?
04:53Yeah. Right, swing her in now.
04:55Anchors away in Los Altos on the Costa Blanca.
04:59You need something to stop it rolling backwards. You do.
05:02This morning, radio DJ and first-time boat owner Simon
05:07joined season skipper Hayden for their boat's maiden voyage.
05:11It's like folding a giant towel.
05:14The pals met five years ago at Hayden's Bar,
05:16where Simon works as a gigging musician.
05:19I'll do it, won't it? Yeah.
05:21And having always dreamed of owning a boat as a relaxing hobby,
05:24they took the plunge together.
05:27It's great just to have a bit of time together in each other's company.
05:31Right, so, have we got everything, Simon?
05:33I hope so.
05:34This unfloated boat cost them 2,700 euros.
05:39We bought the boat, how long ago? Six months ago.
05:42Six months ago, something like that.
05:42It's been sat on our drive all the time.
05:45We've just never had a chance, have we? No.
05:47Never had a chance to get it out.
05:50Ooh, isn't that beautiful?
05:54We don't know how it's going to go, because it's the maiden voyage,
05:57so anything could go wrong at all.
06:00Life jackets, a couple of towels.
06:04We've got the motor on.
06:05The rope's all ready, apart from the main mast.
06:10I'm feeling very nervous.
06:14Once the boat's in the water, I think I'll feel a little bit better.
06:17It's going to be trial and error, the whole thing,
06:19but, you know, a lot of it's common sense, so...
06:26Jane, my wife, she hates the water and she don't like boats.
06:31Just be careful, all right?
06:32I will do, yeah.
06:33I've got the life insurance policy ready.
06:35Life insurance?
06:37Even when you go on big cruise ships, she didn't like it.
06:39Just be careful, though, seriously.
06:42Will be, yeah.
06:43All right, bye then.
06:44Bye, love you, bye.
06:45Bye.
06:45All right, well, let's go.
06:56Well, still nervous.
06:58Yeah, it'll be all right.
06:58OK, good fun.
07:00Very convincing, Simon.
07:04At least the weather's looking good, for now.
07:06There is a bit of a swell, though, further out.
07:09A bit of a swell, but no real way.
07:09It's quite protected here, isn't it? Yeah.
07:12So, as long as we keep fairly close in to land...
07:16OK?
07:17You've got your seasick pills anyway.
07:19Ha, ha, ha!
07:22One's stuck, hang on.
07:23Just lift them out.
07:27Two out-of-practice sailors in an untested boat.
07:31What could possibly go wrong?
07:32Yeah, this is bringing back all the memories when I was a schoolboy, doing my sailing in the grammar school.
07:39This is the first time this boat has been underwater since we bought it, which is the worry.
07:44I'm sure everything will be fine.
07:47I'm sure everything will be fine.
07:48I hope everything will be fine.
07:49Obviously, the hazards, the main hazards are the boom, swinging, which can cause unconsciousness.
07:55As I say, this boat has been sat on a trailer outside your house for six months and we've no
08:01idea if it even floats.
08:04And then the scenarios, the possible scenarios are man overboard or capsize.
08:09If they do capsize, no problem.
08:12These are very tight.
08:13I think they're children's ones.
08:14I'm not sure.
08:16You're going to go in.
08:17Oh, just.
08:19Oh, that's tight.
08:20Nothing to do with it.
08:21I can't breathe.
08:23Yeah, let's do it.
08:25Cool.
08:26Our rookie duo are about to put their sailing skills and friendship to the ultimate test.
08:38Coming up, Val's viewers get an unexpected eyeful.
08:42Sorry, folks.
08:43I didn't realise I'd started.
08:47And all hands on deck for Simon and Hayden's launch.
08:50We're floating.
08:51We're actually floating.
09:01A hundred times I hope it beats Wigan.
09:03For thousands of us Brits, a move to the Costas means the chance to kickstart an exciting new life.
09:09Do you want to show you yours and I'll show you mine?
09:11Whether that's a new flame.
09:13I bet mine are better than yours.
09:14I bet mine's hairier.
09:16Ta-da!
09:17Or a new look.
09:18I think the hairy legs really set it off.
09:20Oh, yeah.
09:21Look at that.
09:22And, of course, making bold steps in your own business.
09:25Why wouldn't you walk here?
09:27Fabulous views and it's all free.
09:30And there's just the person I was looking for.
09:33Morning, everybody.
09:35Morning, Val.
09:36How are we all?
09:37I'm not bad.
09:38Val is the face of door-to-door cosmetic sales.
09:41Oh, you want ten as well?
09:42I do.
09:43Yeah, of course.
09:44God is me thinking I've got a nice tip there.
09:48Of course, I'm still aiming for that number one spot.
09:51I've nearly got there.
09:52I'll get there one day.
09:54I don't doubt it.
09:55Val's been consistently one of the top three salespeople nationally for her makeup company.
10:01But this year, the top spot has eluded her.
10:04That's one of them that make your lips grow, you know?
10:07The volumiser.
10:09It sort of makes your lips go like you've got a bit of Botox, you know?
10:13And we're going back to the time she tried to retake her crown as the queen of cosmetics on the
10:19costas.
10:19I'm getting ready for my Ding Dong Daily's daily desk, which is live on social media.
10:26Oh, that's not right.
10:27I'm not doing it right, am I?
10:28Once she's worked out how to turn the thing on, the live online videos could give her sales the extra
10:35push she needs.
10:36I'm going to do a live tutorial today of putting on highlighters and contours and things, so that's why I
10:42haven't got one.
10:42You probably can't tell, actually, because I've got my curly bit hanging down, but I have actually done one side
10:47of my face and not the other.
10:49Edgy.
10:49Oh, yeah, that side definitely looks better. Definitely.
10:52And viral Val's tip of the day is one to pout about.
10:56So, I've always said a lipstick, if you haven't got any spare money other than a couple of quid, you
11:01could treat yourself to a lip in it and make you feel a million dollars.
11:04But Val, am I more Scarlet Siren or very Violet?
11:08You do have to move with the times, and the times are definitely going more social media.
11:13I'm only one person, so there's a limit to how much I can do by foot.
11:19When I can sit at home and I can speak to hundreds of people at the same time on a
11:24live video.
11:26Glantastic, if it gets you the Saleswoman of the Year title.
11:31With July being number one in the country, I was so delighted, so still a little while to go.
11:38I need to keep pushing and pushing.
11:42The last two videos I've done, while I've been on, it keeps breaking up and it says you're not getting
11:47the internet connection.
11:49And what I've realised is I've had my Wi-Fi on rather than my 4G.
11:53I don't want to be cracking up in public.
11:56It needs to be as flawless as your foundation.
11:59Right, let's go viral.
12:01Oh, it's the wrong way around. Hang on.
12:04I can't find the flipping circle. Is that it?
12:08It's got leaves on it. Hang on.
12:13It's here, isn't it? It's at the bottom.
12:18Right, OK. Is this fringe straight?
12:21That's better. Oh, my light's gone out.
12:23Oh, I know what's happened. I've shut the computer.
12:27Oh, God. That's what it is.
12:31That's it. Right.
12:33Ready to go.
12:35Finally ready to take the beauty world by storm.
12:38Oh, hang on. It was taping all that.
12:40Live and uncut.
12:42It was taping all that.
12:45Sorry, folks. I didn't realise I'd started.
12:48Oh, wow. You started without me. Sorry about that.
12:52Welcome, everybody. Sorry.
12:54Val's quest to build customer numbers is off to a rocky start.
13:01And here we go.
13:04It's the final fry-up of the season at Fuengirola's favourite chipping.
13:09And even though John's battered, there's a crucial task on his plate.
13:12I want to run down the stock.
13:14We don't leave any electricity on, any equipment on.
13:18So when I come out of there, I'll go in over the weekend
13:20and turn all the main electric switches,
13:23all the fridges and freezers will be turned off.
13:26So what we've got tonight, this is it.
13:30Two tubs of ice cream, two small tubs of garden peas,
13:34about four portions of scampi, two portions of chicken nuggets,
13:39one burger and probably about 20 jumbo sausages.
13:45At the end of the busy season, there's enough money in the bank
13:48to see us through and pay all my tax and insurance,
13:51community charges, rent till we reopen in March.
13:54John spends €500 a day on food and unsold stock means lost profit.
14:00So everything's got to go.
14:02With the other things I've got and the steak pies, the sausages, scampi,
14:07I've probably got enough for in excess of between 80 and 100 meals.
14:12John's challenge will be to sell all the stock
14:15without leaving any customers hungry.
14:17But we'll see, see what I can do.
14:20I can work my magic.
14:21And I'm going to put a specials board on for tonight.
14:23I'm going to do all the sweets at half price.
14:26So they're €6, so tonight to get rid of them,
14:29I'm going to get my cloth and I'm going to change the sign out here.
14:36And not a lot of people have got this over here.
14:40Custard, only €3.
14:45Usually the last day of the year when we do close,
14:47people know and we do have a busy one.
14:50We're opening up in ten minutes
14:52and it feels like an actor going out on stage.
14:54You get a little pre-match nerves.
14:56We've got butterflies.
14:58But I don't know, like I say, no one might come in.
15:00I might be disappointed.
15:02I might be eating fish and chips for three months.
15:11When I were a teenager, right opposite where I lived,
15:14there was a parade of shops with a fish and chips shop there.
15:17And I got to know the couple very, very well.
15:19They'd had the shop for years.
15:21But as they got a little bit long in the tooth,
15:23they didn't have any family to pass it down to.
15:26So I got in there, started working in there, helped out for a while,
15:30and then just had a little word in his shell like and said,
15:33if you're ready to retire, if and when you're ready to retire,
15:37I'll buy it off you.
15:37And that's what I did.
15:39Just dropped them in the fryer now.
15:42Just waiting for the temperature to drop.
15:45The first batch of chips are on.
15:47But John's still got a lot to do
15:49and his front-of-house wife Adriana is nowhere to be seen.
15:53Evening. You all right, Gary?
15:54Yes, sir.
15:54All right, Lorraine?
15:55We're just opening up now.
15:57Of course, Adriana that's here at 3.30.
16:00There's no sign of her.
16:02So I'll have to do the bar.
16:05I'm not very good at it, but I'll try my best.
16:08Gary and Lorraine now, regular customers are just coming in.
16:12So I've opened the doors and let's get cracking.
16:15We won't see you for a while.
16:17We're going to close now for Christmas and New Year.
16:21I try and slow it down.
16:23When Adriana's not here, I try and slow it down.
16:25And pray that she walks in.
16:27Right, you ready?
16:28Do you know what you like?
16:29I've got a lot of sausage and batter, please, John.
16:31Batter, sauce and chips.
16:32Haddock.
16:33Haddock, chips.
16:34Do you want peas?
16:35Mushy peas.
16:36Garden peas.
16:36Garden peas.
16:37My first ordering, fish chips and garden peas,
16:40which is excellent because I need rid of my garden peas.
16:44And sausage.
16:45That's the most thing I've got.
16:46I've got about 20 sausages to get rid of.
16:50So the first customer have taken two, so we're down to 18.
16:52John's end of season sellout service is off to a strong start.
16:56In we go.
16:58And in.
16:59But with no front of house, things may have hit a snag.
17:03Come on, Andrea, where is she?
17:05Always lets me down.
17:09Leeds lad John has a close eye on that final night profit margin.
17:13You work so hard, you've got to be careful with your money, haven't you?
17:17And he's not the only one watching the pennies.
17:19Yeah, we all like a bargain, don't we?
17:21Why do us Brits love a bargain?
17:24Because we're English.
17:26Because we don't like to spend a lot of money.
17:29As I'm very tired, I like to get my money to earth.
17:34I've worked really hard for my money, so I want to make sure I get the most out of it.
17:38And who doesn't love a bargain?
17:39Yeah, and who doesn't love a bargain?
17:42It is bog and nothing Brits at the sun.
17:51That's getting quite windy now, Simon.
17:53Yeah, I know.
17:54Ten miles from Torrevieca, rookie sailors Simon and Hayden are launching their boat for the very first time.
18:01Are you going to get in now or what?
18:02I don't know.
18:03It's going to be quite slippy, isn't it?
18:06They've just forgotten one very important thing.
18:09How do we get in?
18:10Yes, being in the boat always helps, boys.
18:12This is it.
18:13This is the biggie.
18:17Navigating out of port using the motor...
18:20That's quite a big swell, isn't it, really?
18:22It is.
18:22..is the moment of truth for the boat's maiden voyage.
18:26We're off.
18:26We're off.
18:27We're floating.
18:28We're actually floating.
18:31Teamwork makes the dream work.
18:33We've become friends later in life just purely because of interests.
18:40Simon, that's maximum power.
18:42Is it?
18:43Well, I certainly don't make friends very easily.
18:47And the friends we have are very, very close friends.
18:51That's fine.
18:52It works.
18:52It's all we need.
18:53We're both there for each other when there is issues or whatever.
18:58We're always there for each other.
18:59We can always talk to each other.
19:04It's just a nice thing to do in it sailing.
19:07It's so relaxing.
19:08The sound of the waves and, you know, just chugging along six knots an hour.
19:12It's not exciting, but it's just a very relaxing, pleasant thing to do when you've got a busy lifestyle.
19:19It swells massive, isn't it?
19:20Massive swell.
19:21You don't realise how big it is.
19:24Once out in open water, it's time to cut the engine and use the sails.
19:28I'll get the jib up first, shall I or not?
19:30No, you need the ropes first, Simon, on the bottom, at the end of the sail.
19:35These?
19:35No, the jib.
19:37But much to Hayden's despair, Simon's getting his ropes in a twist.
19:40There's two ropes on the jib that feed through the sides.
19:43All right, hang on.
19:45Through the eye first.
19:47That.
19:48But these don't go on the cleats, do they?
19:50That's the mainsail, isn't it?
19:52No.
19:53That's the jib.
19:54I thought this was meant to be relaxing.
19:57I've got two licences.
19:58I've got a Spanish six-metre licence and a Royal Yacht Association ten-metre licence.
20:03So, technically, at sea, I've got probably more knowledge now than you have.
20:08Probably better if you sit there, Simon, so we've got the balance.
20:12All right, mate.
20:12As for sailing, I have no knowledge of sailing whatsoever.
20:17He's the one with the knowledge of sailing,
20:19so I'm putting my life in your hands today.
20:22Look, it's going right round the mast. It needs to be this side.
20:25This side, over here.
20:26Not quite as easy as I thought it would be, actually.
20:29Yeah, but I haven't done it since I was about 15 or 16, something like that.
20:32But it comes back to it. It's like riding a bike, you know.
20:35Now he tells me.
20:37Right, the rudder's on.
20:38Hoist the mainsail!
20:40Arrgh, cotton!
20:43But as the wind picks up, Simon wonders if they've made a mistake.
20:48Why is there not one other sailboat out than only us?
20:52That's a bit worrying.
20:56Watch it, boom, going about.
20:59We've come quite a way offshore,
21:00and we're only allowed a certain distance in this boat.
21:04So, we just turned her about,
21:06and we're going to head back towards the shore,
21:09get us inland a little bit.
21:11Sailing in open water can mean life or death.
21:14You need a clear head and concise direction.
21:17Otherwise, you're all at sea.
21:19The wind's coming from the, uh, is it the east?
21:21Yeah, the east.
21:22The west, it's coming from the west.
21:24Someone get that man a compass.
21:26It's not turning for some reason, the boat.
21:28That's actually doing it the other way now.
21:30Yeah, I think it's the swell.
21:32Right.
21:32Now the jib needs to go to the other side.
21:34The other side.
21:35Release that and get it to the other side.
21:37Lease it, let it go, let it go.
21:38We can't.
21:40We haven't got enough power to do it.
21:41Struggling to control the boat in a strong westerly wind.
21:46And the shoreline fast disappearing from view,
21:49the friends could find themselves in troubled waters.
21:52Whoa!
21:57Coming up,
21:59Vavavoom Val hatches a picture-perfect publicity drive.
22:03These boaters are in celebration of my success with my swimming.
22:08And the chips are down as John takes a battering.
22:10I just want it to stop.
22:13Ah!
22:21You beat me to it today, folks.
22:24In Albeer, after a bit of a ding-dong with the tech,
22:27beauty sales supremo Val is on air.
22:30I like to do a bit of a wake-up call,
22:32remind everybody I'm here and that I'm waiting for their orders
22:35and that promote a few of the products,
22:40some new products I've got to show people.
22:43Val's been selling cosmetics for nearly 20 years,
22:46but she's got to move with the times and harness social media.
22:49I'm aiming for number one in August.
22:52You know I was number one in July.
22:54I'm aiming for number one in August as well.
22:57So the pressure's on.
22:59Everything I've done in my life,
23:03I've been the best.
23:06I started with the direct selling when I was 14.
23:10I've got a couple of things to tell you about that are new products today.
23:13So long as all that chat converts to cash.
23:16There you go. Can you see how fine that is?
23:18Right, here comes the science bit.
23:20The one end you've got a brush,
23:23which you can use first to brush if you've got more eyebrows than me.
23:27You can brush them up.
23:28I've had this face a long while, so I know how to put my make-up on.
23:35So it's not really hard.
23:36I put make-up on every day.
23:38I wouldn't let you all see me without my make-up on.
23:40I've got piggy eyes.
23:42Now I know what you're telling me, Porky's.
23:45So that you can actually get rid of any make-up or anything that's on them already
23:49and also put them into shape ready to use the very fine tip on the other side.
23:55But once Viral Val's off-air, she's got an exciting marketing manoeuvre scheduled.
24:01Val's putting those make-up skills to use at a glamorous photo shoot.
24:05Have a great weekend, everybody.
24:08Lots of love.
24:08Bye-bye.
24:09Bye-bye.
24:11Some professional headshots could bolster Val's online profile a treat.
24:16Quick squirt.
24:17One of my favourite perfumes, that is.
24:19I'm just going to check if my curly...
24:21Oh, my curly bits are still curly.
24:22That's OK.
24:24OK, I'm ready to go then.
24:26See you later.
24:32So where's the jib going?
24:33To the other side.
24:34It's going to go to the other side.
24:37Now we haven't got enough power to turn the boat around.
24:39A mile offshore from Torravieca, it's Mayday for mates Simon and Hayden.
24:44You see what I mean?
24:45Yeah.
24:46Now the jib's on the other side there.
24:48They planned a quick trip, but with rusty skills and a strong westerly wind, they're drifting
24:53out to sea.
24:54Right, tighten the jib up that way now.
24:56Right?
24:57Now you see, can you feel the power of the jib pulling us now?
24:59Yeah.
25:00Right?
25:00Right, going about now.
25:01Now release that completely.
25:03Other side.
25:04That's what we want.
25:05Yeah.
25:07There, there, the wind.
25:09We've got it.
25:11But it's not just the ropes that are feeling the strain.
25:15I think being out at sea won't really test our friendship, but I guess we might shout
25:21at each other a lot more.
25:22We're getting a bit out into what I call the sea.
25:26Fingers crossed.
25:27Whose idea was it to buy a sailboat?
25:31I'm seriously going to get to the point where I'm saying I'm starting the engine.
25:34Yeah, yeah, we'll have to just be getting back on it.
25:36But you'll have to bring down the sea.
25:38A sail.
25:39Because I come from an engineering background, I'm kind of Mr. Fix-It, so if anything's
25:46broken...
25:46He's a buff, and he couldn't fix anything, yeah.
25:48The jib needs releasing.
25:49Oi!
25:51Which side?
25:53That's the right side, but just release it a bit more.
25:57I'll take it any more.
25:59We're all strengthened for weaknesses, don't we?
26:03Yeah.
26:03You know, well, one's good at another thing, somebody's good at another thing, aren't they?
26:07Pull it down and then try it again.
26:12After a lot of struggle, it feels like Simon's rusty sailing skills might finally be coming good.
26:21Yeah, we're shifting a bit.
26:22Sailing, sailing.
26:25Just need Rod Stewart now in the bag there.
26:30Very relaxing, isn't it?
26:31Oh, no noise or anything, is it?
26:33No noise, just literally...
26:35Nice way to spend a day sailing, yeah.
26:37Cost you nothing at all.
26:39Especially when the sun's shining and everything, yeah.
26:42But it's not plain sailing just yet.
26:45The main sail's gonna go back again.
26:47We need to get enough speed up to be able to go about, you see.
26:51Whoa!
26:51See?
26:52Whoa, it's gone.
27:07As you can see, they're completely me, sparkly.
27:13So, yeah, when I bought these, I literally wasn't shopping for these.
27:16It was something else, I can't remember what, but it definitely wasn't shoes.
27:19And I saw them, obviously, the sparkle attracted me, homed in,
27:23because, you know, I just love glitz.
27:25And then I was like, I have to have them.
27:30And I got them, obviously, for entertaining, but I also wear them socially as well.
27:35I think I might, I may be wearing them today, I'm not sure yet.
27:38Um, so, yeah, these, I think they was, like, reduced.
27:42Um, and I think I got them for, like, €20, something like that.
27:51And I've been living in them since, as you can see,
27:53because they're getting a bit worn now.
27:54So, yeah, my sparkly shoes.
27:58Mmm.
28:00Look at these little beauts.
28:02At his chippy and los boliches,
28:04an already exhausted John is facing trial by fryer.
28:08So, we're off now for about two or three months' break,
28:10and we need to sell out.
28:13We've got stock to get rid of,
28:15so we'll be watching the stock and we'll be watching the clock.
28:20Hi.
28:21Hey!
28:22To the rescue.
28:24Saved by the bell.
28:26OK.
28:27John and Adriana need to sell off the 80 to 100 meals' worth
28:31of supplies they've got in, otherwise they're in a pickle.
28:35Really exciting.
28:37Well, it's the last day from the season.
28:40I think it will come in many people and friends, customers,
28:44family, everybody's well.
28:46If they come in with a Scouse accent, they're having curry sauce.
28:50If they come in with a Manc accent, they're having gravy.
28:53If they come in with a Yorkshire accent, it's mushy peas.
28:56I know my clients.
28:58Lorraine, see you next year.
29:00Thank you, Gary.
29:00Cheers.
29:02We're closing down tonight for winter.
29:04Yeah.
29:04So you've just made it in time.
29:07As the customers pile in desperate for one last chippy tea
29:11before doors close for the year,
29:13things heat up in the kitchen.
29:15Takeaway for Anne.
29:20We've got burgers in, I've got, which is brilliant.
29:24It gets rid of the stock.
29:25I'm only doing one fish, table of four.
29:28One's double battered sausage and chips again.
29:30Get in.
29:32Table night, we have the reservation or no?
29:35Yeah, for Lynn and Steve.
29:36Ah, so it's you, Lynn.
29:40Yeah, we're busy.
29:41I've just done another four twos.
29:43I've done a takeaway and a table of ten I've just walked in.
29:45And we've still got quite a few more booked in later.
29:49I just hope that they eat.
29:50I can get it out quick, they can eat.
29:52And I can clear them tables for another sitting.
29:55It's what we need.
29:59Very busy.
30:00I think it's all busy, busy.
30:02The stock's going down nice.
30:04Piling in now, the order's piling in.
30:07Yeah, and that's all the fish we've got left.
30:10I've probably got about 20 portions at the most.
30:13John's now in danger of selling out before service is over,
30:16with a packed dining room of eager customers.
30:20I've got a sweat on.
30:22It's madness.
30:23Everybody came in at once.
30:24I can't see through my glasses.
30:25E e e e e e e e e e.
30:29Sold out of burgers now.
30:31The sausages.
30:33Two, two, four, six, eight sausages left.
30:37Whoa!
30:39Oh my God.
30:44Cheers, see you later.
30:46Thanks for your custom.
30:53They're still coming in for never stops ringing,

32:06let's not forget live streaming i'm not really pushy but people might laugh at that
32:13and i said somebody might laugh at that yeah she works very hard and so she deserves all the
32:20success she gets i will say that and to try and hit that top seller spot she's come up with
32:25a plan
32:26so today i'm doing something a little bit different i thought i'd treat myself and have
32:31some professional photos done so first of all i'm going to wear uh this which is actually
32:36what i wore recently to my 60th birthday the photo shoot also marks a huge personal milestone

33:06then
33:06and the other one which i was going to wear was this one but a greek goddess outfit divine darling
33:13and i've got matching shoes got the right underwear as well oh you'll make me blush val in case

33:32all set
33:32ready to go now at least you'll not be short on makeup for it the photo shoot is really about
33:38me
33:38making myself feel better about myself having some nice mementos of today so it's going to be a fun
33:45exciting time as the walking talking promotion for her product a few snazzy snaps should really boost

36:00got plenty oh lovely yeah i feel really good and everything's going the right way ding dong thank you
36:12babe coming up that was bad planning mutiny on the high seas for simon and hayden you said to do
36:18it but
36:19then you didn't i know and crunch time at john's final fry-up that's it that's all the chips you
36:26got left
36:36it's stuck on that here we're going out to sea again that's the only thing
36:41let's drop the sail let me just see how close we can get to the wind
36:45a life on the ocean wave has turned out to be a bit of a tough time for friends simon
36:49and hayden
36:50right with a sailboat there's only two directions you can go in close to the wind
36:54and because it's a westerly wind you can either go almost out to sea or back into shore
37:00their maiden voyage has been less smooth sailing more sinking feeling you know i wondered why there's
37:07no other sailboats out and now you know the reason why it's got to be a north south easterly wind
37:14what should we do shall we start the engine and move on back all right captain oh sorry
37:26this first outing may have tested both the craft and their friendship but both have survived intact
37:33i walk at three o'clock this morning and i was really worried
37:38it didn't know if the boat floated i didn't know if he could sail about really
37:43but i think once we're out there i thought it was brilliant
37:47well this is the tricky bit we're approaching the cabaret port now and there's two boys there's a
37:53green and a red isn't there why is it again ports it's all red on the port side there's no
37:59red port
38:00left in the bottle turn her in there simon so we're avoiding these boys here
38:10do a turn now you right the way around so he can see us you mean yeah well there's one
38:15more hiccup for
38:16our disastrous duo trailer's not there at the minute oh yeah we're waiting for our chap to come back with
38:22the trailer so we can get the boat back on land and tow us out and at the minute he's
38:27uh nowhere to be
38:28seen let's hope he hasn't gone home for the weekend no we haven't got his number either so
38:33that's no use that that was bad planning that was just i said to do that as well just a
38:38little bit
38:39you said to do it but then you didn't i know all right boys don't fall out now you're nearly
38:44home and
38:45dry i'll just have to get out with my speedos and carry us in
38:51if the speedos come out i'm going i'm diving in as well
38:55well avert your eyes hayden it's budgie smuggler simon to the rescue
39:05i'm just glad we had the engine at the end of the day yeah without that we would have been
39:09jiggered
39:12oh perfect this perfect perfect perfect safely back on dry land our two adventurers can toast their
39:21first expedition oh that's nice isn't it rigor mortis is not set in yet i always feel a lot better
39:29when
39:29the speedos go as does anybody
39:35basically i think today's gone really well first ever time out on the boat i was as i said to
39:40you
39:40earlier i was nervous are you so nervous now do you think you've got a bit more confidence
39:44no next time we go out we have no exactly what to do and uh yeah let's get out there
39:50again yeah let's say
39:51cheers to uh a successful maiden maiden voyage yes perhaps we should join a sailing club or something
39:59like that maybe i mean without a doubt the bromance is definitely straightforward we'll do it again
40:15without a doubt
40:16mr johnny i'll see you tomorrow oh really i'll be on holiday it's been the sale of the century over
