00:01Do you want to know a secret?
00:03Us Brits love the Costas.
00:06We are Spies!
00:08We are sun worshippers.
00:10Loads of fun.
00:11Cat's out of the bag now, Linda.
00:13But it really is.
00:14And with over 300 days of that glorious sunshine a year,
00:18it sure beats the cold and grey of the old UK.
00:22Ah, this is a life.
00:23Living that dream can be blooming hard graft.
00:26Misty!
00:27My life, you're right.
00:29Stress level through the roof.
00:32But at the end of the working day...
00:34Girl power!
00:35Girl power!
00:35Come on, Sam!
00:36Forward!
00:37Booyah!
00:37The quality of life on the Costas...
00:40CHEERING
00:43Is priceless.
00:45Peace and love.
00:46Cheers.
00:47That's why there will always be...
00:50Hold your horses.
00:51Easy go on.
00:52Chief lights in the weather.
00:53Sun sees someone more.
00:55Could you ask for?
00:56Bargain-loving Brits in the sun.
01:00Today on the Costas.
01:03Fingers on buzzers.
01:04My brain cells are hurting.
01:06Are yours?
01:07Businesswoman Debbie is put through her paces.
01:10Some of the questions are much more difficult than I thought.
01:12Highs.
01:14Oh, what a lot.
01:15And lows as John ruffles his feathers.
01:20And life is tweaked.
01:22With the Costas' answer to Dr Doolittle.
01:24We do this every single morning, 365 days a year.
01:34Come on.
01:36Whee!
01:37Come on, then.
01:38It's walkies for Tootsie and her dog, Mum, Debbie, in Yelka.
01:43You're going to be a good girl today.
01:45Debbie recently launched her will-writing business on the Costa Blanca.
01:50Business is really good.
01:51You know, I've only been in business for one month, officially, and I'm really surprised
01:59by how quickly I've gained so many clients.
02:04I've been working for seven days the last week.
02:07It's been great.
02:08Now I've just got to do the do and cope with all the instructions that I've got.
02:15Is the business making money?
02:17Not at the moment, because I've launched with promos.
02:21And I'm offering some really good deals at the moment.
02:24But obviously, long term, the hope is I think we'll break even next year and time will tell.
02:31To help her hit the big time and hopefully earn a crust, Debbie's making big plans, starting
02:37with an exciting new event.
02:39We're having the first gathering of entrepreneurs in Spain, which was an idea I had for established
02:48businesses, new businesses and dreamers.
02:51My hope is that new friendships will be made, business connections, and the start of a long-term
02:59collaboration between us.
03:04Fussy cats.
03:06If you are a sole trader like myself, it is important to collaborate.
03:10Where is your coat?
03:11Very good way to make friends and to learn kind of more about, you know, life in Spain
03:17by meeting people.
03:19Well, I'm taking my lippy.
03:21I don't go anywhere without it.
03:23This is a very small affair.
03:25This is Entrepreneurs of Spain.
03:27This is the first meeting.
03:30And from acorns, oak trees grow, or something like that.
03:35But I think it'll be fun.
03:37Eight business owners are expected.
03:39Let the wagons roll.
03:40And if the meeting's a hit, it could become a regular gathering.
03:47I'm going to have the best parking space as well.
03:55Morning.
03:56Morning.
03:58Where is everybody?
04:00It's less Dragon's Den, more Village Library.
04:04Can I have a cafe from the chief?
04:08I'll just have a little sip.
04:09This looks delicious.
04:10I do need to start my day with a nice coffee.
04:13Oh, I'm with you on that, Debbie.
04:14But that latte will have to wait.
04:16I think we have our first moguls.
04:18Good morning.
04:19Hi, Tim.
04:21And this is...
04:23This is Tim.
04:24He's another Tim.
04:24Tim and Tim.
04:25It's a bog off.
04:27Two Tims for the price of one.
04:28And the Costa del Alan sugars keep on coming.
04:32Hi, ladies.
04:34Not the cat.
04:35He doesn't have a business.
04:36I'm missing another three.
04:38Three or four.
04:39So hopefully they'll be here soon.
04:41Otherwise it's going to be very intimate.
04:45So a few people haven't turned up.
04:48But onwards and upwards.
04:49The people that are here are the main thing.
04:52That's the spirit, Debbie.
04:53Quality, not quantity.
04:56The pepper mill has spoken.
04:58Let's get down to the business of business.
05:01OK.
05:07What do you want for your sandwich?
05:09Spanish ham or ham and cheese?
05:11Ham and cheese, please.
05:12Normal ham and cheese.
05:13And any pickles?
05:16Branson pickle.
05:17Ooh, lovely.
05:18Just east of Fuengirola, Leeds Ladd and Chippeona John's
05:22making the big decisions.
05:25Oil or butter?
05:27I'll have butter on mine.
05:28Not olive oil, please.
05:30Nah, not what he wants on his butty.
05:32At nearly 60 years old, John's made a big decision
05:36about his market stall side hustle.
05:39So I'm winding down on the market now because that takes its toll.
05:43It is very, very busy in the restaurant.
05:45I'm working in the morning between 8 and 9 and you're talking,
05:49getting back at midnight, 1 o'clock.
05:51So it's easier of 16, 17, 18 hour day.
05:5416 hour day on average, I would have thought.
05:55And then the market on a Saturday, again,
05:58it's another 12 hour slog with not much sleep.
06:02But the market's finishing.
06:03Now we're going to close the restaurant at the end of this week
06:06to have some quality time.
06:07We're no more opening in winter,
06:08so we're going to have three months off to be with the family.
06:12And that means some long overdue time
06:15with wife, Adriana, and their 12-year-old son, Marco.
06:18Do you want ham and cheese or serrano ham?
06:21Ham and cheese.
06:22Do you want butter or olive oil?
06:25Olive oil.
06:26Yeah, I love adventures.
06:29I'm happy that he's finished with the market
06:31so I can spend more quality time with him.
06:34How many times have we driven on the motorway
06:36under the cable cars and said we've never done that?
06:40We're going to do that one day
06:41and we put it off and put it off.
06:43And today's the day.
06:45All right, ready?
06:47Yeah, let's hit the road.
06:49It's liftoff on the family day out.
06:52OK, thank you.
06:53Welcome wedding to Couch.
06:54Couch has parked here, yes.
06:57So finally we can unwind now.
06:59The market's gone.
07:01So we've got a weekend to ourselves.
07:04Are we ready?
07:05Yeah.
07:06I'm looking forward to this.
07:08Seatbelt, club click, every trip.
07:12So I thought what we'd do today
07:14we'd try something we'd never had time to do
07:16and we've always planned to do it
07:18and that's the Belling Mariner cable car
07:21that runs up to the top of the summit of the mountain.
07:24It's not mentioned workload, the restaurant, bureaucracy,
07:27Marco's school, anything.
07:29We're just going to switch off.
07:30To do relax.
07:31Yeah, totally chillax today.
07:34Chillaxing might be easier said than done.
07:36He's scared of heights.
07:38We went to vacation and we got the smallest floor.
07:43It was 29.
07:45He looked and he was like,
07:46no, I'm not coming here.
07:47So, yeah, he's really scared of heights.
07:53Everybody out.
07:54Get the packed lunch, Marco.
07:56Look, you can see the cable car right up the mountain there.
08:00We can.
08:01Can you, John?
08:01It's very high.
08:03Yeah, I'm a bit nervous.
08:04We're here now.
08:05Marco said, Daddy, what if it breaks?
08:07I don't know if he's trying to scare me
08:09or he's a little bit nervous himself.
08:11So, I don't know if I'm going to be comforting him
08:12or he's going to be comforting me.
08:15Maybe a bit of both.
08:17I've always had a fear of heights and high buildings,
08:20but I want to make sure Marco and Adriana enjoy the experience,
08:24so I'll be putting a very, very brave face on.
08:26Father and son are ready to face their fears together.
08:30I'm so nervous.
08:32Dig deep, lads.
08:33The next car's high, Marco.
08:35The next one's high.
08:40Coming up...
08:40I've got everything I could need now.
08:42Clint's living the Vida Costa with a catch.
08:45I'm living like a millionaire
08:46without the million pound in the bank.
08:48Oh!
08:50And a white knuckle ride leaves John feeling green.
08:53Little bumps every time we go over the pylons.
09:05You want a play?
09:06Do you want a play?
09:07Yeah!
09:08Happy!
09:10The costas are full of people that love animals.
09:13Happy birthday!
09:15Happy birthday to you!
09:19After a hard day's graft, you get a little pony, my size.
09:23And one of the most animal mad is Clint Valentine.
09:26When that's the S, Vincent?
09:28We're rolling back the years on his Creature Chronicles
09:31and joining the whole lad back in 2021.
09:36In the mornings, we took his muck out,
09:38so now I'm just changing his water.
09:40I probably spoke about for ten years in the UK
09:43and I'm sat in my office off, walking around the shop,
09:45and I said, oh, I would love to just take a year out,
09:48go live in the sunshine,
09:50do some voluntary work for an animal place.
09:52I came here just to do one or two afternoons a week,
09:56voluntary, but then bit by bit over the years,
09:59I've become more and more engrossed,
10:00and now I'm here seven days a week.
10:02He loves it when I give him a rub there.
10:03If you watch his head go on the side,
10:05his lips quivering.
10:06Oh, I'm the same, Clint.
10:09Now, I do jobs that make you feel good.
10:11I don't want to ever come home at the end of the day
10:13thinking, oh, I really don't want to go there.
10:15Oh, I never want to have to wake up,
10:16and it'd be a struggle to have to go to the job,
10:19which, with any job, you can get like that and become mundane.
10:22We do this every single morning, 365 days a year,
10:25and I haven't had a day off now for two years.
10:28Committed Clint, who moved to Spain in 2014,
10:31even lives next to the horse rescue in a caravan.
10:35I actually take about 800 a month now.
10:37You know, it's enough for me to live on.
10:39And then I bought this caravan for 500 euros.
10:42Now I pay 5 euros a night, 150 a month,
10:45and that's all it costs me.
10:46Bargain.
10:47I now am completely off-grid.
10:49So my water comes from the natural springs.
10:52My entire electric for the year is there.
10:56It's a solar panel, small solar panel,
10:58and that runs everything in my caravan.
11:01That costs me 5 euros from the charity shop.
11:04I live 10 minutes from the beach,
11:0610 minutes from the town centre,
11:08and I've got everything I could need now.
11:10I'm living like a millionaire
11:11without the million pound in the bank.
11:13That's how I feel.
11:14And I think even if I had a million pound in the bank,
11:16I probably wouldn't be doing anything much different
11:18to what I'm doing right now.
11:20Really good life.
11:21For us and for them.
11:23But Clint's kindness isn't just for horses.
11:26It's a full-blown animal empire.
11:28I've finished my stables early
11:29because I've got another job on before I start my bar work.
11:34Clint's teamed up with a local vet
11:36to trap and neuter stray cats
11:38to keep the population under control.
11:40I pay for that myself.
11:42I've got nothing else to spend money on.
11:44I don't drink.
11:45They're my friends.
11:47There's one particular tomcat
11:49that's fathering lots of kittens,
11:50and Clint needs to catch him
11:52to stop him spreading the love.
11:55Yeah, we're on a time frame this morning.
11:56Now we've got to one o'clock at the latest.
12:01I'm going to show you how the trap sets up now
12:03because they look quite lethal.
12:05And then the food...
12:08Ooh.
12:08And if they just touch it, that goes down.
12:11The trap's all set.
12:13Let's hope the stray moggy takes the bait.
12:18Get on, get on, get on, get on, get on, get on.
12:21Right, one in.
12:22Oh, my God.
12:22I'm scared.
12:23Oh, my God.
12:24Despite a lifelong fear of heights,
12:27John is braving a day out
12:28on the Benel Madena cable car with his family.
12:31Oh, oh.
12:33Hold on, hold on.
12:34Oh, my God.
12:36Oh, my God.
12:36Yeah, I got...
12:37Oh, my God.
12:40Oh, no, no, no.
12:42Oh, my God.
12:42The cable car takes passengers to 2,500 feet at the summit.
12:47That's nearly twice the height of the Empire State Building.
12:51Oh, I'm a little bit nervous now.
12:53It's good.
12:54Wow.
12:55Are you feeling OK?
12:56No.
12:57John's whopping workload has kept him from spending time
13:00with his youngest son, Marco.
13:03He won't let us walk him to school anymore.
13:05Them days have gone.
13:06So embarrassed.
13:07Yes.
13:08Big man.
13:08It's true.
13:09It's true.
13:10We need to enjoy it now every day
13:11because how many years?
13:13Maybe two?
13:14Yeah.
13:14Look at all the views.
13:16Yeah.
13:16Wow.
13:17You can see the sea.
13:19I want to make more memories
13:21and have time with the family.
13:23But as the ruins of the Tivoli Amusement Park
13:26come into view...
13:27Yeah, there's old grass.
13:28Where the best goes.
13:29...where there's trash,
13:31wheeler-dealer John can see treasure.
13:33I have all this on the market.
13:34Look at it all.
13:36Eyes on the prize, John.
13:37It's family time.
13:38Yeah, I'm feeling good now.
13:40We've been travelling a minute or so.
13:42Oh!
13:43But there's little bumps every time we go over the pylons,
13:47which makes you a bit nervous.
13:50Relaxed.
13:51Everything is perfect.
13:52Yay!
13:54I'm glad I didn't have my ham and cheese sandwich
13:57with pickles on there before we set off.
14:00Fifteen stomach-churning minutes later
14:02and the end is finally in sight.
14:04Oh!
14:06Oh!
14:08Oh!
14:09We've arrived!
14:12Oh!
14:12Ah!
14:13Come on!
14:14Oh!
14:15Oh, my God!
14:16Come on, my leg.
14:17Yeah.
14:17My legs are a bit jelly now
14:18and I've only sat in a cable car.
14:22Wow!
14:24Wow!
14:28Beautiful views.
14:29I loved it.
14:30It was really high and I was really nervous
14:32and my dad was the same.
14:35Yeah, I was nervous,
14:36but I was putting on a brave face,
14:37so I don't want to show nerves in front of the young one.
14:41No, no.
14:42You had us all fooled, John.
14:44Wow, look at that.
14:45Wow.
14:46Look at the view.
14:47Wow.
14:48With the angst and the adrenaline of the ride up here safely behind him...
14:52Come on, let's do one.
14:54John can enjoy some quality time with his family.
14:57Two.
14:57Is that it?
14:58No, we need a bigger round.
15:00Good builders, they love it.
15:02We're together.
15:03It's something.
15:03I have some stickle bricks on our young.
15:05Five.
15:07Six.
15:11Seven.
15:11There you go.
15:12Yeah, I've worked hard,
15:13but I can feel the foot seizing off the gas now
15:17as I'm getting older
15:19and probably on my last lap
15:21and looking forward to retiring.
15:23Things have got easier
15:24financially as well as workload.
15:28So, yeah, it's time to start relaxing a little bit more.
15:30What about that?
15:31Ah, cheese.
15:33Yeah, it's a new experience for me.
15:35This is just on the doorstep as well.
15:37I just need to chill out and relax now
15:41or else I won't make my pension.
15:45I think it's going to be good for John and for us.
15:49I'm looking forward to it.
15:50A little bit hungry now after all that exercise.
15:53He needs to learn what this is,
15:55relax and concentrate and enjoy.
15:58But while Adriana's all for John
16:00swapping the fast lane for a steady trot,
16:02he's not so sure he's ready to put his feet up just yet.
16:07Right, come on, let's venture a little bit higher
16:09and see if we can find the summit.
16:14OK.
16:15Welcome, everyone,
16:17to the first meeting of entrepreneurs in Spain.
16:20In Yelka, Debbie's got a decent turnout
16:22for her first business gathering.
16:25Collaboration is the way forward,
16:27it's the way to grow your business.
16:29Do not procrastinate.
16:30You know, life is short.
16:32If you have a passion and a dream,
16:34then do it.
16:35I'm taking notes.
16:37Richard Branson, eat your heart out.
16:39Because working for yourself is the best feeling ever.
16:43There's no substitute.
16:44If you do something you enjoy,
16:46you'll never work a day in your life.
16:48Yeah, I mean, I'm very lucky to have the chance
16:51to have a business in Spain.
16:53OK, it's a little bit more difficult
16:55than building a business in the UK,
16:58but I'm really, really grateful for this opportunity.
17:01I don't see myself anywhere else.
17:04Debbie is just four weeks into her will-writing business.
17:07It does take time and effort to pull people together,
17:10but the great thing about the networking side of it
17:13is to always speak to other people that have got experiences.
17:17You don't have to do it on your own.
17:19But round this table are the finest business brains
17:22in everything from legal to construction,
17:25hospitality to real estate,
17:26all with tonnes of knowledge to share.
17:29When you do something with passion
17:31and something that you like for a certain time,
17:35the reward will come.
17:36And hopefully find some new clients.
17:39Debbie, I've been looking to work with you.
17:41So I see our business working really well together.
17:44So for every plan created with Elysium,
17:48we include a will.
17:50So I can send every client to yourself.
17:54Yeah, that's amazing.
17:55So we can work together really well.
17:57Well, that just shows that collaboration, doesn't it?
17:59That we're around this table
18:00and we're here to support each other.
18:01So thank you.
18:02Well, there's a will, eh, Debbie?
18:04You may just have a new business partner.
18:07She said to me that she would like to work with me
18:11and give me some clients that want wills and things.
18:13Put your book on our website too
18:15and on our show with you.
18:17That would be absolutely brilliant.
18:19That's the kind of attitude
18:20that I'm kind of trying to promote
18:23with these networking events.
18:25I like very much being a helper for people.
18:30It's always good to meet new entrepreneurs
18:33and share our experiences.
18:36And Debbie is perfect to do that.
18:39She knows how to manage these situations
18:41and how to find the right person to connect with.
18:45It's hard work.
18:46It is hard work.
18:47Yeah, it is hard work.
18:48But the more you do,
18:49I am so pleased I came today.
18:52It's been really inspirational
18:53and Debbie's done a wonderful job.
18:55It was fun.
18:56Yes.
18:57Because you're imparting some of yourself into your website.
18:59She is amazing at rallying people around
19:01and always great to build on the entrepreneurial contacts
19:05here on the Costa Blanca.
19:06That's how a lot of business works.
19:08I have lots of different connections,
19:10so if you ever need any pointing in the right directions.
19:14Really, really amazing.
19:16I think that we are very blessed today
19:18to have the businesses here that we did
19:20and I know it's going to be the start of something
19:23that will lead to more meetings.
19:27It will grow.
19:28It was just brilliant.
19:29I'm really, really pleased.
19:30The event's been a hit
19:32with connections forged and leads to chase up.
19:35For me, as a new business,
19:38that's a really good start, you know,
19:40that's given me a lot of confidence for the future.
19:42That was our first meeting of Entrepreneurs in Spain.
19:45I hope you all enjoyed it.
19:47Thank you all so much for coming
19:48and for sharing your stories.
19:50So, thank you.
19:53Potential partnerships floated,
19:55plus one of today's attendees
19:57is already interested in Debbie's business
19:59and has booked an appointment for later.
20:01One, two, three...
20:03Entrepreneurs!
20:14She was a glamour.
20:16She was a very glamorous lady.
20:19With a lovely Scottish accent.
20:21My mum was Scottish.
20:25This was taken on my 18th birthday in Newcastle.
20:29She would say to me,
20:30when you start working, you buy a soot,
20:32I'll take it out.
20:33She used to take me out to the clubs
20:35and the clubs back there were a bit different,
20:36very different from now.
20:38They all had bands in them.
20:47And, er, got on, like, out on fire.
20:49But I would have liked her to have seen us as we are now.
20:53She would have loved our life,
20:55going out to the Caribbean when I was younger,
20:58coming to Spain.
21:05So, that's one of my favourite photos that I have on my walls at home,
21:10that comes with us from home to home.
21:16Back at animal rescuer Clint's campsite...
21:19Today we're catching cats.
21:21With the help of volunteer Janine,
21:23Clint is trying to nab the sly, stray tomcat
21:26that's responsible for all the kittens on his campsite.
21:30I'm hiding between those bricks.
21:32There's some breeze blocks, watch, just around there.
21:34So, this is a good spot.
21:35I now caught 13 here last time I did it here.
21:37The cats that are caught are taken to the vet
21:40and given the snip.
21:42Right, I've just said the trap go off.
21:43So, it sounds like we've got one in there,
21:45so let's go and check.
21:47Here's hoping it's big tom in the box.
21:49Fingers crossed it's not one that we've already had,
21:51so we don't want to keep catching the same ones.
21:54Clint foots the 20-year-old bill
21:55for neutering for all the strays he catches.
21:58For me, 20 euros isn't a lot of money
22:00to make a cat have...
22:02Well, to make sure that a cat
22:03has a much happier life in the future.
22:06Hello, baby!
22:08Excellent! Oh, no, he has. He's been done.
22:09His ears already clipped.
22:11His ears already clipped, this one.
22:13Oh, no, it's not him.
22:15So, he's going to have to go back out.
22:17So, there you go.
22:18I hope you enjoyed my food.
22:19There you go, mister.
22:20Come on, you can go out.
22:23There you go. Good girl.
22:24Back to the drawing board.
22:25So, once again, they need to reset the trap.
22:29It's a tiring job, but someone's got to do it.
22:32So, it takes patience.
22:33Yeah, then you can use it for the next one.
22:36Right, so that one's set again now.
22:39All it takes is a little nudge on the trap,
22:40and we'll have another cat in there.
22:43Everything crossed, Clint.
22:45While we wait to trap the tomcat,
22:47let's drop in on another chapter in all creatures Clint and Small.
22:52Morito is my little rescue dog.
22:54He's 13 years old.
22:56I've had him for seven years now.
22:59I got him the first week I moved to Spain.
23:01I picked him because he only walked on three legs,
23:03and that made me feel sorry for him.
23:05So, I said, no, no, I've definitely got to take that one.
23:07So, I grew used to his three-leg walking,
23:10and then he had treatment for an ear infection,
23:12and the same day they treated his ear infection,
23:15he started walking on four legs,
23:17and he's walked on four legs ever since.
23:19Here, here, it's a medical miracle.
23:21Well done, Mojito.
23:23All it was was a small ear infection,
23:25which was affecting his balance.
23:27Hang on, what's that?
23:29Oh, back to the cats.
23:31We've just heard the trap go off,
23:33so it sounds like we've got another cat.
23:35With any look, it'll be that big old Tom.
23:37Hello, Mr Man.
23:40It's him.
23:42Clint's perseverance has finally paid off.
23:44Do you know, you're a much happier life.
23:46Well, I'm not sure he thinks so at the moment.
23:49Now, all he's got to do is get the cat from the trap
23:52into the travel box to take him to the vets.
23:55To shut the door.
23:56Come on.
24:00There you go.
24:01Oh, look!
24:04Oh, the feline fugitive
24:07has wriggled his way out of trouble.
24:09We'll just go again.
24:10We'll just go again.
24:12Oh.
24:13The cat's out of the bag.
24:14Well, box.
24:15But Clint will have to leave round two for another day.
24:21Coming up,
24:22John's on a wing and a prayer
24:24to prove to his family
24:25that he's changed his ways.
24:28I've been addicted to work.
24:29A workaholic.
24:31And more birdie bombshells
24:33with Clint's latest sidekick.
24:35She puts her head in my mouth
24:36and picks things up my teeth.
24:47Back at the campsite...
24:48A bit gutting for me this morning.
24:51Earlier, animal lover Clint
24:52had a cat-catching catastrophe.
24:54A bit like his love life.
24:56I went on a date
24:57and was having a meal
24:59and I said,
25:00oh, did you not like the food?
25:02He left a lot of the food.
25:03And he went,
25:04yeah, no, the food's really, really nice.
25:05But I'm going to be honest with you,
25:08you smell really strong
25:09of horse poop.
25:11And I'd had a shower and everything like that,
25:12so I really didn't understand it.
25:14Oh, people.
25:15He's lost, Clint.
25:16Normally,
25:17I always just put it in the back.
25:19When my hands, I pour it over.
25:21Clint's not afraid
25:21to get his hands dirty
25:22to get the job done.
25:25I don't mind doing all the jobs
25:26that are losing us volunteers sometimes.
25:29They might come for a month
25:30and then we'll change the mind
25:31and give it up, so...
25:33I say, give them the jobs
25:34that they want to do
25:35because we still need them doing anyway
25:37and I'll just leave me the co-jobs
25:38or the heavy lifting jobs
25:40because it's my free gym.
25:41Could be the new Zumba, Clint.
25:44Every day's a busy day for me.
25:46This is just one of a million,
25:47million and one.
25:48When you're doing things for animals,
25:50you automatically feel better
25:51because they thank you
25:52in a different way
25:52to what humans do.
25:54Now, although I worked
25:55at the horse rescue,
25:56I do also rescue
25:58a lot of small animals
25:59myself as well.
26:00Now, I've got a special one
26:01for you at the minute, though.
26:02Oh, well, it can't be an elephant.
26:04We called her Rosie now
26:05because she's a rosy-cheeked lovebird.
26:09Yes, you, Rosie!
26:11Clint adopted the lovebird
26:12from a pet shop
26:13after a birdie bereavement.
26:16The guy who runs the pet shop
26:17called me
26:18because she was paired up
26:19with a male
26:20and the male died.
26:22They're paired up
26:22usually from round about
26:23one bath
26:24and if they lose one,
26:25the other one dies as well.
26:27He assured me you can take,
26:28but she probably won't
26:29live past 24 hours
26:30so when you wake up
26:31in the morning,
26:33you might be a bit distressed.
26:34But Rosie had other ideas.
26:36She's six months old now
26:37and I absolutely love her to pieces.
26:39Tell him!
26:40She might only be a small bear
26:42to some people,
26:43but parrots do have
26:43a big, strong personality.
26:45Is she wolf whistles already?
26:47Oh, hello.
26:49They don't call them lovebirds
26:51for nothing.
26:54She shreds paper
26:55and then tucks them
26:56into her back feathers
26:57to make herself more attractive.
26:59And apparently she does that
27:00when she's trying to meet
27:01a new mate,
27:02so it probably means
27:03that she's in love with me.
27:07She likes...
27:08These people make
27:08worse people out,
27:09but she picks my teeth.
27:11She puts her head in my mouth
27:12and picks things out my teeth
27:13and the dry skin off my lips.
27:19Watch out.
27:20Yep, you're right, Clint.
27:22I'm grossed out.
27:25But Clint knows
27:26his cosy caravan
27:27isn't the right long-term home
27:29for such a lively parrot
27:30and today he's looking
27:32to re-home her
27:32to somewhere
27:33she can spread her wings.
27:36I really want to find
27:37her the perfect home,
27:39somebody that knows
27:39what they're doing
27:40with birds and things like that
27:41because I do love the bird,
27:42so I need to find
27:43her a good home now.
27:46Nice house.
27:47Come on then.
27:54In Yelker...
27:55Lovely, are you warm in here?
27:56It's lovely.
27:57Lovely and cosy.
27:58You take the sofa,
27:59I'll take the chair.
28:00Okey-doke.
28:01Debbie's about to take
28:02a landmark step
28:03for her brand-new
28:04will-writing business.
28:06Well, thanks for inviting me, Brian.
28:09This is just a quick consultation
28:11just to give you an idea
28:12of the information I need
28:14to start writing a will.
28:17Having a will is important
28:18because without a will,
28:20your assets,
28:22things that you've worked for,
28:23very hard for,
28:24all your life,
28:25they won't go to the people
28:26you choose your estate to go to.
28:29So it's really important
28:30to have a will
28:30so that it's easy to understand
28:32and that it won't end up
28:34in some court somewhere
28:35being contested.
28:36I will need to see your passport
28:38and your NIE
28:39so I can verify who you are.
28:43As long as the kids are safe
28:45or the grandchildren are safe,
28:47then that allows me
28:49not to worry about it,
28:51let alone them.
28:52That's peace of mind, isn't it?
28:53It's very important to listen.
28:55And so when I arrange a home visit
28:57with a client,
28:58they're in their own homes,
28:59they're comfortable,
29:00we've got time.
29:01I have one
29:02but the guy who wrote it
29:05and is the executor of it
29:06has died.
29:08My wife was part of it
29:10and she's died.
29:11So really,
29:12it's a wasted piece of paper
29:14in a lot of respects
29:15because it doesn't apply
29:16to the current position.
29:18So that actually,
29:19thank you for telling me that,
29:20that is something
29:21we'll also talk to the lawyers about.
29:23I think you'll agree
29:24that it's good to have an idea
29:25of some of the questions in advance
29:27so that you've got time
29:28to think about the executor
29:30and some of the dates of birth
29:32that you're going to need.
29:34Yeah, how long have you got?
29:37People are my passion
29:38and Wills is all about people
29:41and their lives.
29:42And certainly when I'm visiting clients,
29:44I can be with them a few hours
29:46finding out all about them
29:48and they find all about me as well.
29:50So yeah,
29:51it's an absolute privilege
29:52to do this work.
29:53So what I'll do
29:55is we'll contact each other
29:58for another meeting
29:59when you've got everything
30:00you need,
30:01when you're ready.
30:02Yeah.
30:03And then I'll come back
30:04and I'll actually
30:04take your instructions.
30:05OK.
30:06OK?
30:07Well, that's fine.
30:07So thank you.
30:08OK.
30:09I could stay here all afternoon.
30:10It's so lovely and cosy and warm.
30:12Oh, yes it is.
30:14Meeting number two, done.
30:16See you soon.
30:16Bye-bye.
30:17Bye-bye.
30:17But it's onwards and upwards
30:18to yet another.
30:20The fact is
30:20I have got a soft spot for Brian
30:22and of course
30:24they want to make sure
30:25that his wishes
30:26are carried out accurately
30:27but I do that for everyone.
30:29And by everyone
30:31she means everyone.
30:32This Costa del Tycoon
30:34isn't done yet.
30:42I'm lagging behind again.
30:45Oh, look at that.
30:47Can you see the birds already?
30:48Wow.
30:49John is enjoying
30:50a rare family day out
30:52with wife Adriana
30:53and son Marco.
30:55That's massive.
30:57But they're not the only
30:58unusual sightings up here.
31:06Perched atop the Calamaro mountain
31:08over 160 birds of prey
31:11take to the skies
31:12for daily demonstrations.
31:23Having been working
31:2580 hours a week
31:26on two businesses
31:27John's been somewhat
31:28in captivity himself.
31:30For the last four years
31:31we've been unable
31:32to break free
31:33and get away
31:34and do something
31:34so now the light
31:36at the end of the tunnel
31:36I think we've got
31:37the perfect activities
31:39today to enjoy.
31:41Put out
31:41two arms together
31:42like this
31:43right in front.
31:44I think now is the right time
31:45I'm coming into my
31:46later years of work
31:48so it's time now
31:50I can take the foot
31:51off the gas.
31:57When I look back
31:58over the years
31:58I've been addicted to work
32:00a workaholic
32:06I want to make more memories
32:08and have time
32:09with Adriana
32:10Marco
32:11and the boys
32:19we've got a little bit
32:21of family time now
32:22we've not been for many years
32:23because of work commitments
32:24but now we're freeing up
32:26some time
32:27we can have these
32:28great days out
32:29as a family.
32:34we've enjoyed it haven't we
32:36together all together
32:38to be together like this
32:40it's special yeah
32:41looks like you're having
32:42a writer hoot
32:45I put a smile on my wife
32:47and Marco's face
32:48that's all I'm bothered about
32:50if they're happy
32:51I'm happy
32:53but having given Adriana
32:55and Marco
32:55a glimpse of the new
32:56committed family man
32:58John needs to persuade them
33:02he's here to stay
33:08if bird shows
33:09leave you spitting feathers
33:10or you've not got the head
33:12for heights
