Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron and the Sultan of Oman amid escalating tensions in West Asia.

00:08It seems Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the French President Emmanuel Macron
00:14and also the Sultan of Oman.
00:17So in the midst of the escalating tensions,
00:20Prime Minister has dialed up various leaders and various heads of state.
00:25He is discussing escalating situation in West Asia with these leaders.
00:30Prime Minister Modi also condemned violation of Oman's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
00:37India and Oman stand for safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz
00:42is what Prime Minister Modi had said in this discussion.
00:46Now the Prime Minister stressed on urgent need for de-escalation
00:49as well as return to dialogue and diplomacy,
00:52which has been the stand of India again and again as far as war is concerned.

01:11Do tell us what the discussions have been focusing on
01:13and what kind of results is India seeking.
01:18Well, you know, at the moment, Anjali, it's not just India,
01:20but we are seeing how the entire world and the world leaders are now focusing on
01:24and also emphasizing on the need that there needs to be an urgent de-escalation
01:28in the war that we are seeing in West Asia.
01:30Prime Minister Modi, since day one, has been saying that this is not the way to solve anything.
01:35He, in fact, is now making sure that most of the allies of India also speak about the same point.
01:40They are now trying to make sure that, you know,
01:42there is some kind of pressure which is put in because this war is impacting not just those
01:47who are neighbours, but also impacting the entire world.
01:50We are seeing how the world economy almost has come to a standstill.
01:54That's the reason why we are seeing Prime Minister Modi almost on a daily basis
01:57having conversations with the world leaders.
02:00And there's also an urgency that India is now showing and asking the leaders
02:04to make sure that there is pressure that can be built
02:06so that we can see the de-escalation taking place in this war that is taking place in West Asia.
