00:11Detroit. This is where it all began.
00:14There are many reasons why we chose Detroit.
00:17We felt Detroit was the right place to tell the story we wanted to play.
00:21It has this emotional component that we're looking for.
00:24It's a city with a very dense history.
00:27It's also a city that was a giant, went through difficult times and now be born again.
00:34And we tried to deal with it as if it was the fourth main character in the story.
00:38That's on the other side of town. We need a place for tonight.
00:42We wanted to tell three stories in parallel for the three main characters.
00:48But we also wanted the stories to interlace and to tell a bigger story, the story of the world.
00:55We didn't want to create sci-fi, you know, we didn't want flying cars and laser guns.
01:00What we really wanted was a world that would be believable, that would be our world 20 years from now.
01:06So we spent basically four years trying to imagine what our world will be like,
01:11what will be the impact of technology on society and our world in general.
01:15So we thought about what would be the impact of having androids on sports.
01:20What about music? I mean, we would want to compete with them and we would be able to create something
01:25as fast and as original as the machine would.
01:29We thought about how technology would impact the different parts of societies depending on your social level.
01:35We imagine that technology would have a very positive impact if you're on the high end of the social spectrum
01:44because you have money to buy an android and to benefit from technology.
01:49But if you are on the lower end of the spectrum, you probably lost your job and be replaced by
01:55an android.
01:55You can take your job next and see what I can do.
02:00So technology will be perceived very differently depending on what is your position on society.
02:06That was the theory that we had in this game.
