A disturbing murder case has surfaced from Bengaluru, where a 24-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her lover after an argument over marriage.

The incident took place in the Kodathi area, following which police from Varthur Police Station launched an investigation and arrested the accused.

The victim has been identified as Ranjitha, while the accused is Ayyappa, who was reportedly in a relationship with her. Both are originally from Ponnampet.

According to police sources, Ayyappa worked as a supervisor at a dry fruit shop near Varthur.

Investigators said Ayyappa was already married but had reportedly separated from his wife. Despite not legally divorcing her, he began a relationship with Ranjitha, and the two eventually started living together in Bengaluru.

Police said Ranjitha had moved to the city hoping to marry Ayyappa. However, the accused allegedly kept delaying the marriage due to his unresolved marital status, leading to frequent arguments between the couple.

During one such argument, Ayyappa allegedly strangled Ranjitha with a wire, resulting in her death.

After the incident, police arrested the accused and registered a case. Ranjitha’s body has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Officials said further investigation into the case is underway.
