A shocking medical negligence case has surfaced in Ballia, where a pregnant woman and her twin newborn daughters died following a surgery at a private hospital on Friday (13 March 2026). The incident triggered chaos as the victim’s family created a ruckus at the facility.

The deceased woman has been identified as Rinku Yadav (28), wife of Sonu Yadav, residents of Rampur Boha village under the Dubhad Police Station area.

According to family members, Rinku went into labour on Friday morning. They informed the local ASHA worker, who allegedly took her to Purvanchal Hospital, located near the Chief Medical Officer Office, instead of referring her to Dubhad Community Health Centre or the district women’s hospital.

The family alleged that the hospital operator promised that his son, a doctor posted at the women’s hospital, would perform the surgery. Later, a contract doctor from the emergency department allegedly conducted a cesarean section after charging ₹60,000. During the operation, the twin baby girls reportedly died.

Even after the surgery, Rinku did not regain consciousness. When questioned, the doctor allegedly told the family that it might take 24–36 hours for her condition to stabilise. Soon after, she was declared critical and referred to Mau by ambulance. Doctors there declared her dead on arrival.

Assistant Chief Medical Officer Manju Rani said she received information about the death of the woman who had undergone a C-section and delivered twins. When she questioned the hospital management about the babies, they reportedly claimed the newborns had been handed over to the family.

However, the family denied receiving the bodies. After a search inside the hospital, both dead newborn girls were allegedly found inside a dustbin in the hospital bathroom.

Health officials suspect the woman may have died inside the hospital itself. A case has been registered, the hospital operator has been detained by police, and authorities have begun sealing the hospital. Officials said further action will be taken after the post-mortem report.
