00:00All right, I want to roll out what the projected offense will look like for the Texans.
00:07And when you think about this offense and you think about this goal of the team,
00:11is this offense, do you believe, good enough to get this team to an AFC championship game?
00:18We know the greatness of the defense.
00:20We know who they are.
00:22They add Reed Blankenship.
00:23They look to be even better.
00:25Hell, I think, hell, anyone they add.
00:27The Dominique Robinson guy, they add it from the Bears.
00:30I bet he'll be somebody who plays well.
00:33Logan Hall, I bet he is somebody who's going to play well.
00:36Defensively, I got no worries about that.
00:38Bear Baron, made him the highest paid kicker in the league.
00:41The way he has kicked recently, feel good about it.
00:43Here is the offense projected.
00:45C.J. Stroud quarterback, Montgomery, Woody Marks, Gerard Jordan right now are the running backs.
00:51Receivers, Nico Collins, Higgins, Hutchinson, Jalen Knoll, and then Tank Dell.
00:57Factors in there.
00:58Tight ends, Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, Brevin Jordan, Foster Morrow, who they just signed yesterday.
01:03Ursary, I don't think they had their starter or anyone that is on the roster that would be a starter
01:09at the left guard spot.
01:11So I'd say open.
01:12Potentially, Jake Andrews at the center spot.
01:14Ed Ingram, Braden Smith, Trent Brown, Blake Fisher, potentially backing those guys up on the offensive line.
01:23Does that give you the feel of an offense, even with their defense, that is good enough for them to
01:28get to that next step that they're trying to get to?
01:31No, it doesn't.
01:32I don't think the defense can be that much better.
01:35I don't think the kicking game can be that much better.
01:36I think the room to improve for the Houston Texans, if we're talking about kicking down the door of an
01:41AFC championship and potentially a Super Bowl, is on the offensive side of the football.
01:45And this is, so far, so far, this is a play it safe.
01:50This has been a play it safe on the offensive side of the football type of offseason for the Texans.
01:56There's no huge rolls of the dice.
01:59There's a lot of solid, solid starters that you've brought in here, many of which you already knew.
02:08There's going to be a lot of let's roll with what we had last year and hope these guys develop
02:12or hope these guys recover and stay healthy.
02:14And I think it's going to take more than that to win.
02:19And, look, I think the reality of it is 2026 or 2025, I guess it was, 2025 slash 26, that
02:25season, I think, is going to give and is giving D'Amico Ryans and Nick Casario a false sense of
02:35confidence.
02:38Really?
02:39Yep.
02:40I think we're in a spot Nick Casario said it.
02:43I think Nick said it.
02:44Hey, man, we could have beat anybody in the league.
02:46You know, and we're right there.
02:49I mean, I think there is a belief that if we just get solid across the board, man, if we're
02:57just consistent.
02:58If we just raise the floor.
03:00Yeah, if we just stay out of trouble, if we just don't turn it over, if we just, and I
03:06think that approach is going to bite you in the ass.
03:08Last year, it was good enough you could get to the second round with.
03:12Next year.
03:13I probably could have gotten past it.
03:14If you just did that.
03:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:16Yeah, fair.
03:17So fair, yeah.
03:19I just think that that's going to bite them in the ass in a big way in the next season.
03:25Yeah.
03:25No, I just, you just look at it, Clint, and I think for the offense to be good, and you
03:32know the games we're talking about, right?
03:34You know, they play teams like the Colts.
03:37I think they'll handle them.
03:38They play the Titans twice.
03:39They'll handle them.
03:40The Jags, they probably handle them at least one of the games and be very, very competitive, right?
03:45Like the teams around, like Chargers, those teams.
03:48But when they get in those games against, you know, maybe those other two, three, four teams that are a
03:55little bit more balanced in what they're bringing to the table with an offense and a defense that can play.
04:01And they need to put up, and nobody's saying like, all right, man, this is an offense that's got to
04:06put up 35 points, baby.
04:07They got to, they got.
04:08But can you consistently get to 24, 27?
04:11Because you may have to do that against some of these teams that are building up that play better offense
04:18and defense.
04:19You may have to score, like against the Patriots, even with everything that CJ did and hurt the team.
04:25Like you still had to get to 25 points, 20 whatever, you know, whatever.
04:31And you had to get to that.
04:33And, you know, you look at this offense, and to me, for them to get there, their quarterback is going
04:40to have to play a lot better.
04:41Their play caller is going to have to be a lot better with this group because there's not a lot
04:45of easy guys that can just go make plays on their own outside of Nico.
04:52Unfortunately, we've seen that with Nick Haley.
04:54We've seen it with this New England system is so much of the pressure is on the quarterback to be
04:59right and to process at an elite level and communicate at an elite level.
05:03And so much is on the coordinator to draw up the perfect play at the perfect time.
05:11And, you know, when that happens, you produce, obviously, in a big way.
05:18But when all of your production or a huge chunk of your production is dependent on that and you get
05:24nothing from the, hey, my guy's just simply better than yours.
05:27My O-line and my running back are simply more physical and more dominant than your defensive front and defensive
05:32line.
05:33Or my receiver is a guy that you can't touch in a phone booth.
05:37And we're going to get him out on the edge a couple times in open space.
05:44And good luck tackling this guy, running back or tight end, you know, I mean, or wide receiver.
05:49Like, there's just not enough of that in this offense.
05:51And it's so dependent.
05:55And it's so dependent on Nick Haley and C.J. Stroud that I just don't know.
06:01Like you said, it's going to work against the lesser thans.
06:04It's going to work over a 17-game season, 18-week season.
06:09But when you've got to line up and you've got to go against teams that are just as good as
06:13you or better,
06:15they've got a good run game, good pass game.
06:17They've got a good defense.
06:18Good enough defense to stop you.
06:20They're a better team, right?
06:21I mean, they're a great team.
06:23I'll say better, not better than Texas, just a great team on the NFL front.
06:26And you get there and you've got to go through four of the best.
06:30You're going to have to have a squad that can answer the bell.
06:33And it is a lot to ask your quarterback to be right all the time
06:38and your coordinator to be that damn good,
06:40especially when you've got two super young guys in each position.
06:45I think it's going to leave a lot to be desired, Ryan.
