Have any move surprised you early on in NFL free agency?
Transcript
00:00Also, these bells can be heard every Sunday at the 11 a.m. mass
00:04at Greater Life Church on Tireman.
00:07It can also be heard, I guess, in the hallways of, I don't know,
00:12whatever house he lives in.
00:13Isaiah likely signed three years, $40 million,
00:16could go up to $47.5 million.
00:19He's going to the Giants.
00:21Mike, what's it feel like to be privileged?
00:24Okay.
00:25No, I mean, I like the player a lot.
00:28The Giants already have their in-line tight end in Theo Johnson.
00:32They want to run a lot of 12 personnel, and they're going to run a ton of RPO.
00:36Likely is that athletic freakazoid.
00:40Yeah, I like the player.
00:42I mean, is it an overpay?
00:43Sure it is.
00:43They want a free agency.
00:46But he's got upside to live up to the deal.
00:48I'm good with it.
00:49But my team's won seven games in two years.
00:51No, but I think it's a steal for your team, Mikey,
00:53even with the amount of money because you have a legit offensive weapon.
00:57You put him with Theo Johnson and Malik Nabors.
01:00You got the young quarterback.
01:04I know you're like, oh, we only won so many games.
01:07Your team's a fun team to watch.
01:08Oh, good.
01:09Nothing more fun than losing.
01:12They're young, and they're getting better.
01:14I like the signing.
01:15I need to see some offensive linemen.
01:17But carry on.
01:18Let's get to a team that is fun to watch, also annoying to watch.
01:23Kelsey's back.
01:25Back again.
01:27Kelsey's back.
01:28Tell a friend.
01:30He's coming back to the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:33They are working on a deal.
01:34Oh, great.
01:35Hasn't been announced yet, but it could be worth up to $15 million.
01:39That's expensive for a coffin.
01:42Right.
01:42You could wheel a coffin onto the field wearing an 87 spray painted on it.
01:46I don't even understand why the team wants him back.
01:50He's done.
01:52Go get married.
01:53Get out of here.
01:54See, I don't think so, Mike.
01:55He gave them the hometown discount.
01:59This is not a discount.
02:00He's coming back to Kansas City, a place he's familiar with, his OC he's familiar with.
02:06These are all his reasons.
02:08What's the Chiefs' reason for wanting this empty husk?
02:12Because he can come back because Taylor Swift is not doing a –
02:16No, no, no, because he can focus on football because she's not doing a world tour.
02:21And he can just go out there because all throughout the season, he's dropping simple passes.
02:27It's like, bruh, are you even here?
02:29Once again, why do they want him back?
02:31Because he's Travis Kelsey.
02:33They could have signed Isaiah Likely for the money that they're going to spend on Travis Kelsey.
02:38They could have, but he's a legend there, David.
02:40Also, going to Kansas City is the Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker.
02:48He will sign a three-year, $43 million deal, $28 guaranteed.
02:53Beautiful signing for the Kansas City Chiefs here.
02:56Whatever.
02:56I don't pay running backs.
02:58You can leave me out of this one.
02:59Go ahead.
03:00No, no, but here's the thing about Kenneth Walker.
03:03He's not that great of a pass catcher, so can you leave him in there on third down?
03:10No, because if Mahomes is scrambling, I don't think that's the guy you want to throw him the ball to
03:16because he doesn't have the greatest hands in the world.
03:19But if you're Kansas City, you'd rather take, I guess, the person that you know
03:24rather than gamble on Jeremiah Love, so now you can go out and actually draft somebody
03:28with, what, the ninth selection overall.
03:30You can get a defensive player.
03:33Another deal here that was kind of discussed, but he really didn't get into it.
03:38It is Rashawn Gary getting traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2027 fourth-round selection.
03:45Former defensive coordinator there with him now.
03:48What is it?
03:48Clay Thompson?
03:49What the hell is his name?
03:50But, yeah, he was a Packer defensive assistant.
03:53And, again, Kenny Clark, Packer.
03:54Gary, Packer.
03:56They're rebuilding their front.
03:57I don't hate it.
03:58And for that scheme, they like what he brings to the table.
04:01I mean, what am I going to tell you?
04:02It's a fourth-round pick.
04:04Yeah, I mean, it's just funny because Dallas, just when you think, okay, they're out of it,
04:09they got rid of Micah Parsons.
04:11You're like, they're actually doing a pretty good job there.
04:14Like, I hate to say, is Jerry Jones actually doing something correct and not getting in his own way?
04:21But for a fourth-round selection, yeah, this looks like a pretty good deal for the Cowboys.
04:26And I can't believe I didn't bring this up earlier, just to get you all's full thought on it,
04:31because it happened over the weekend.
04:33It is Max Crosby getting traded to the Ravens.
04:35They traded two first-round picks to get him.
04:39Just your full thoughts on it, since we didn't really get to it.
04:41They had to do it.
04:42Their pass rush was a joke.
04:44You can go and get one of the best players in the league.
04:46You give up two first-round picks.
04:48Look, they made their choice.
04:49They made their bed.
04:50They stuck with Lamar.
04:52So they got to do everything they can to get Lamar over the hump.
04:55And that means that defense has to get better.
04:57Well, it's funny you mention that, because Lamar, I guess, gave us the hint on Friday
05:01when he tweeted out the eyeball emoji.
05:04He's like, hey, I know something that you guys don't.
05:06We all thought, okay, Max is going to the Bears.
05:10The Bears were the betting favorite.
05:12I was a little shocked.
05:13I mean, when I saw, wait, he's going to the Ravens.
05:16I was fully expecting, and now he's a Chicago Bear.
05:20Yeah, if you're the Ravens, yeah, you're going to invest in your defense.
05:24You're going to run it back with Lamar.
05:26And I thought about you, Mike, because it's, once again, Lamar, you got no excuses.
05:33Like, we're reinvesting.
05:35A new coach is going to come in here and invest with you.
05:37You got the old coach fired.
05:38What are you going to do for this new one?
05:40Lose.
05:42Why do you hate Lamar?
05:44Because he sucks.
05:45He's one of the most overrated players ever.
05:47Go look at him in the playoffs.
05:48Just, you can go look for yourself.
05:50You can just check the Carfax.
05:53David?
05:53Well, let's get to it here in Philadelphia.
05:56Things are moving because over the weekend,
05:59they announced that they signed one of their defensive tackles to an extension,
06:02and that was Jordan Davis.
06:04He signed a three-year extension for $78 million, which is $26 per year,
06:09$65 million of it is guaranteed.
06:11And because of that deal, then news on Jalen Carter began to come out,
06:16and the Eagles were receiving calls from multiple teams,
06:19and the Jags are one of them that are calling.
06:21So we'll see what happens with Jalen Carter, whether they extend him, trade him.
06:25They're going to have to trade one of their core people.
06:27If it's not A.J. Brown, it's Jalen Carter.
06:30If it's not Jalen Carter, it's going to be somebody else.
06:32They have to trade somebody.
06:35I was just kind of shocked because I was told that Jordan Davis is just an overrated,
06:39nose tackle, and he was never going to be good in the NFL anyway.
06:50But yes.
06:51Just do whatever you're doing.
06:53No, no, no.
06:53But the Carter thing, I was shocked because that tells me they're having problems
06:58moving A.J. Brown because I thought A.J. Brown would be the no-brainer.
07:02He doesn't want to be there.
07:03You really don't want him there.
07:04You got to find somebody.
07:06There's lots of teams that need that type of a wide receiver.
07:10But when I saw the Jalen Carter name, I was like, yeah, maybe people are saying,
07:15we don't want that headache that is called A.J. Brown.
07:18That's the contract, too.
07:19Go look at it.
07:21The contract's horrible.
07:22Right, but the money, and then you don't know how motivated he's going to be.
07:25He gets there, and after three games, he's reading books on the sideline.
07:29And then, Liz, you talk about, you know, trouble and players.
07:33What?
07:34Yet again, Trent Williams is in the news.
07:37I'm out of this.
07:38Trying to come up with a deal.
07:40They seem to not be able to come up with a deal, and now he's being talked about as being
07:46traded.
07:47His cap hit is $32 million this year.
07:52What happens?
07:53Does he get traded, or do they actually figure out a deal?
07:55David, I don't know.
07:57I mean, if I'm the Niners, it's that bite the bullet, hey, we may not win the Super Bowl.
08:02We've got to hit the reset button because we can't do this every year.
08:05When he plays, he's an all-pro, but it now gets to availability.
08:10He's often injured, and that's the problem.
08:14But the boombox.
08:14And the boombox.
08:15You've got to sign him for the boombox alone.
08:18You know what?
08:19We could have a new person bring out the boombox.
08:20Your other problem, too.
08:22He's 36, 37 years old now.
08:24It gets to the point where you've got to draft his replacement, and maybe you just let him go.
08:31You'd like to keep him around, but he's not going to—unlike Kelsey, he ain't giving you that hometown discount.
08:36He ain't trying to stick around and make it easy for you.
08:39That brother's trying to get paid.
08:41Well, speaking of that brother's trying to get paid, well, he's not a brother, per se, but he is trying
08:47to get paid.
08:49The Indianapolis Colts, according to reports, offered Daniel Jones a similar contract to Sam Darnold.
08:55Three years, $100.5 million.
08:58So he's like the South Carolina helmets.
09:00Well, his agents have gone back.
09:02They want $50 million per year.
09:06What?
09:07He wants $50 million, according to the reports.
09:10All right, well, good luck.
09:12I'd like to walk out of the studio, but I'm here till six.
09:15I don't know what to tell you.
09:16There's no universe I pay him $50 million a year.
09:19No, not at all.
09:20Like, I thought just the transition tag was enough.
09:24Like, okay, we'll give you—you got injured.
09:26You were playing well.
09:28We'll give you another shot at this.
09:30But coming off of an injury, demanding 50—man, please.
09:35And you're Daniel Jones asking for 50.
09:38He played really well.
09:39He did.
09:40But you're just—to make 50 a year, you got to be one of the five to seven best guys in
09:45the league.
09:45What are we talking about?
09:46To make 50 a year, you either have to be a Super Bowl MVP, a regular MVP, or have a
09:51Super Bowl ring.
09:52He has none of those.
09:54So, no, you can ask for anything that you want.
09:58And we can act like we're going to be negotiating, or I can just tell you right here like a
10:02man.
10:02I don't even have to call your agent.
10:04No.
10:05Try again.
10:06And that is your NFL Blitz.
