00:00We often credit Henry Ford with creating the factory assembly line, but it turns
00:03out our early ancestors might have been on to something too. So this team of
00:07German researchers found out that Neanderthals might have been running
00:10these fat factories up to 125,000 years ago. At a research site they found 170
00:15bones from mammals. They think that inhabitants of the site might have been
00:19cracking open the bones, scraping out the bone marrow, and then refining the
00:22fragments into this rich grease to supplement their diets. And the most
00:28incredible part about this discovery is that it implies that the Neanderthals
00:31knew that there was this quota they had to meet to make the literally bone
00:34crushing process worthwhile. And clearly bone marrow is still part of our diets
00:39because you can still go to a Michelin star restaurant today to enjoy it.
