00:00Archaeologists are always discovering new and amazing things in Egypt because of the
00:04vast amount of time that it's existed. Recently one of these discoveries concerns a very unusual
00:10period of time in which Egypt transitioned from one religion to another, more specifically
00:14one form of Christianity to the other. In the 5th century of our era, the Egyptian Christian
00:21religion, Coptic Christianity, broke away from the Catholic Church and from the Byzantine
00:26Church. So at that time its extensive civilizational influence became a little bit more limited.
00:34But until then it was quite a popular place for tourists of that time, pilgrims, to come
00:38and visit. One of these locations has recently been rediscovered with the recovery of an amazingly
00:44large monastery in the north of Egypt, in the Nile Delta, close to Alexandria. It's an extremely
00:50extensive location and one of the parts that they've uncovered most recently was an area
00:55where people who were visiting pilgrims would come to eat and share time with the monks.
