00:12Renters' Rights Act 2025 when they meet next week. The measures outlined include the end of so-called
00:19no-fault evictions, limits on rent rises to once a year and a ban on rent bidding when tenants
00:25bid against each other for a property. Councils will also gain powers to fine landlords who
00:31breach the rules, starting at £7,000 and rising to £40,000 for repeat offences. A new redress
00:39scheme will allow tenants to raise complaints outside the courts with officer training.
