With a new bill intended on protecting tenants rights, we’re asking people if they think people renting homes need additional protections, or if landlords need help too.
00:00Yeah, I think there should be a certain degree of protection to the renters. It's unfair to have an unannounced raise, if you like.
00:08However, I suppose it's the same if you own your own house, that the interest goes up occasionally and we have to pay an increased mortgage payment.
00:18They need some security, but I also think the landlords need their security as well, because they are putting properties on the line. It is a business. They've got to run properly.
00:29So I think it's got to be a balance between the two, really.
00:32Families, you know, they want to be able to know if they're living in that local community, if the children are in school, friends of the children, for example, or clubs and things.
00:41You know, for families, it's very important to have that predictability.
00:44Yeah, definitely. Because, OK, if you've got a multi-million pound industry or something like that.
00:49But, yeah, some people rent as an extra income and things like that. So the balance should be there.
00:54You need to protect the individuals and you need to protect the landlords as well.
