00:00I am out. I am out. It's part of the reason is that he's out on us.
00:08Is this true? John told me right before the show. John, get on the microphone. Are you there, son?
00:14Yes, sir. I don't like calling him son. He's a nice young man. I'm getting older. You know how this
00:18works.
00:20John. Yep. Boy, he's such a good kid. You'll love him, Jason. All right.
00:26All right. Is it true that Kyler Murray, where did you hear this rumor?
00:31This isn't from Adam Farrell or Adan Schefter or whatever the other things that you're getting fooled in that you're
00:36sending to the group.
00:37This is true that Kyler Murray might be willing to back up Matt Stafford?
00:41Yeah.
00:42Where did you see this?
00:43I saw it on Underdog, which they only take the guys that are like Adam Schefter type guys.
00:48Okay. Is Underdog one of them things that everybody's talking about where they don't get their money back or anything
00:53like that?
00:53What's that? Are we good?
00:54Yeah.
00:55Okay. I've never heard of this before because I'm getting older and you're younger, so that's why I have to
01:00ask you about these things.
01:01So they're legitimate, right?
01:02It's a betting website.
01:03Oh, okay. So they're legitimate then.
01:05Yeah.
01:05Okay. All right. So they're legitimate and they've taken a report and you saw it that says that Kyler Murray
01:11might be interested in backing up Matthew Stafford.
01:14Yes.
01:15All right. John, thank you very much for your time and your contribution.
01:18We'll talk to you at 745 for about last night, if not sooner.
01:21Guys, if he's willing to back up Matt Stafford, what are we talking about here?
01:24I mean, what are we having a conversation?
01:26I mean, we could sit here and shout into the wind.
01:28We can have these conversations.
01:29Hell, you know what?
01:30I'll do you even one better.
01:31I'll play Nick Wilson and Jonathan Piedlerin from yesterday saying how the Browns need to go out and get Kyler
01:36Murray.
01:37You need to stabilize this thing.
01:38And you need to win with Todd Munkin out of the gate and worry about finding that long-term quarterback
01:43in real time.
01:44It might not work out.
01:45It doesn't work out for plenty of teams, but plenty of teams try and stink their way to a quarterback
01:50and end up with Josh Rosen.
01:51I agree.
01:52I totally agree.
01:54I'm not trying to stink my way into a quarterback.
01:57I am not trying to tank it.
01:59I just don't believe that Kyler Murray, Jason, is in for Anthony today.
02:02I just don't believe Kyler Murray is that guy.
02:05I don't.
02:06People go, Kenny, he's better than Shadour.
02:08Yeah, I need way better than Shadour.
02:10I'm not denying that he's better than Shadour.
02:12I'm denying that he's the right quarterback for our future.
02:16Well, first of all.
02:16When I see.
02:17Well, go ahead.
02:17Well, first of all, what is your.
02:19And I'll get back to this Murray and Rams thing in a second because I just did a quick Google.
02:23What is your intentions for 2026?
02:26Are you trying to win as many games as you can?
02:30I'm trying to win as many games as I can without setting ourselves further back.
02:34So if you want to win as many games as you can, why don't you take a more talented who
02:38you just admitted is a more talented quarterback for the league minimum?
02:41Without trying to set us back.
02:43How does that set you back?
02:44How does that set you back?
02:45Because I believe that you can be in a situation where like a Daniel Jones, right?
02:50I don't, I'm not going to sit there and do victory laps over a guy getting hurt.
02:53He played very well last year and they're bringing him back.
02:56But I think overall, I'm not a big believer in Daniel Jones.
03:00And I think that Daniel Jones can get you to a meaty middle where you can flirt with the playoffs,
03:06perhaps even make a wild card.
03:09Depending on your, I mean, good God, depending on your, your, your division, who knows?
03:14I just don't think that they are serious long-term options.
03:18And I think that they, they stop you from finding somebody better, finding somebody that has a real high ceiling.
03:27And I'm, I know I'm trying to thread a very, very small needle here and it's almost impossible to do.
03:35And you can even argue with me.
03:36It's unrealistic, but I'm sick and tired of trying to force things that aren't there.
03:42It's not as much as being like, yeah, do I like Shador?
03:45Obviously, everybody knows that I like him because of his father.
03:48Do I think he's going to be the next big thing?
03:49I've never claimed once that he's going to be a franchise quarterback.
03:51Never a once on this radio station.
03:55And I'm sure Keith can go back and find it.
03:58But I like him better than Deshaun Watson for all the reasons I've said before.
04:03I don't know if he's better than Deshaun Watson, but I like him more than Deshaun for all the reasons
04:08I've said before.
04:10I'd rather just sit here and look at this and go, don't mess this up any further.
04:14Let's get through this year.
04:16I'll see what Shador does.
04:17I'll see what Deshaun does.
04:19And then next year, I'm not going to unveil my entire plan yet because a lot of things have to
04:24shake out first.
04:25But I think I have a plan to make this thing much more stable for the future.
04:30But I have to go through a rocky road here.
04:32So, first of all, well, all right, well, the Deshaun thing, like, I've been on record.
04:39If you're telling me you're making me choose between Deshaun and Shador, I'll take Shador every single time.
04:43Like, there is no point whatsoever in playing Deshaun.
04:48And how can a team whose owner came out twice and said it was a swing and a miss, how
04:54can you then run him out as a starting quarterback?
04:55Can Eric DaCosta go out there and go back on a trade and then say that he's the victim, basically,
05:00out of all this?
05:01That's totally different.
05:02It's not.
05:03It's completely different.
05:04Is it really?
05:05Because what I'm saying is that teams say things all the time and take it back.
05:08Teams do things all the time and take it back.
05:10The owner comes out and calls the biggest trade in franchise history a mistake and then run him out as
05:15the starter?
05:15I'm sorry, did Jerry Jones not do a six-part documentary about some of these things that he has said
05:19in the past and still was able to make a deal work?
05:21I mean, that's Jerry Jones for crying out loud.
05:23Guys say things all the time.
05:25I agree with you, and it's the first thing people would say if they start Deshaun Watson, without a doubt.
05:30But that's up to Shador.
05:32That's up to Shador to look good enough, to play well enough, to be the starter for this team.
05:36Because part two of that is, in what world would you ever sign Deshaun to an extension?
05:40Never.
05:41I don't care what he does next year.
05:43I'm not signing him to another contract.
05:44I don't think you'd want to.
05:45I don't think you'd want to stay here.
05:46I don't think you would either.
05:48So why are you wasting your time?
05:51But Kyler Murray, to me, is not the same as Deshaun.
05:54Kyler Murray, first, I don't think Kyler Murray's coming here.
05:56So this is a moot point.
05:58That's part of what I'm saying.
06:00I mean, I didn't see this report about Matthew Stafford.
06:02Okay, so get to that.
06:03So here's the line.
06:05Here's what I found on a quick 10 seconds, because I hadn't heard that until 10 minutes ago.
06:09Okay.
06:09Quick Google search.
06:10John Gambadaro in Phoenix, who he covers a lot of different teams, I believe, if it's
06:17the guy I'm thinking of, quote, while a starting job like the one that could be had in Minnesota
06:22as a priority, Murray's camp will explore several 2026 backup options with a path to
06:28start in 2027, such as the Los Angeles Rams with Matthew Stafford.
06:32That's not, that's just sort of throwing it out there.
06:35That's, that's like, I've been in that position where you kind of know something, but you want
06:38to commit to it too much.
06:40I think you are making quite a big leap off.
06:44If that's it.
06:45I didn't make the big leap, but go after John if you want to.
06:48I'm not going to.
06:49I think that John's just reading the thing.
06:50And if it's one example of being a backup, that's a good situation.
06:53If you're going to be a backup, that's a really good spot.
06:55Well, sure.
06:56Because how much longer staff are going to play?
06:58Of course this year.
06:58And that's it.
06:59Physically, he may not make it throughout the entire year.
07:02And if you can go sit for a year, even if you are there temporarily, if you can go sit
07:06for a year with Sean McVay, that's not a bad thing.
07:08So that's, that's part of my argument is that I, am I going to sit here and build up
07:12it?
07:12I don't think that Kyler Murray is going to come here to fix his career.
07:15I think that that's the thing that so many people have been.
07:17This is where careers go to die.
07:18Well, that's here.
07:18And that's what I've been yelling at Anthony for the last three weeks, Jason, is that we
07:22keep coming up.
07:23We're spinning this wheel of quarterbacks that people want to get because their names are
07:26not Shador Sanders and they're not Deshaun Watson.
07:29All right.
07:29I've entertained it.
07:30But at the same time, you guys keep giving, not you, but, but Anthony and a lot of people
07:34keep giving me these guys that have revigorated their careers.
07:37And I'm going, wait a minute.
07:38They're going from the Jets to the Seattle Seahawks.
07:40Good organizations.
07:41Okay.
07:42They're, they're going from, they're going from the Cleveland Browns and they ended up in a roundabout
07:47way to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which is a better situation than ours.
07:51You're going from bad organizations to better organizations.
07:55Why are we the team that's going to fix anybody's career?
07:57They're going to avoid this.
07:59So I do think it's a moot point in so many ways, but also I've never been, I've never
08:03been a Kyler Murray believer.
08:04I don't think he's sturdy enough.
08:06I don't think he's big enough.
08:07I don't think that he has the passion for it.
08:09I don't think he's obsessed with being a winner in this league.
08:11I don't, I've never believed that you can go back and check anything if you want to.
08:15And it's part of the reason why I'm out.
08:17I want to get through this year.
08:19I want to see where we're at at the end of this year.
08:21If Shador flies, great, great story.
08:23If the Sean Watson plays, there's for one reason.
08:26And that's because he's undeniable to the rest of the teammates in there that he would
08:29give you the best chance to win.
08:31If you stick with this QB room, I don't want to make the type of investment that I think
08:34they would make in a drafted quarterback after Fernando Mendoza.
08:38I shudder at that thought.
08:40So I'm not trying to tank or anything like that.
08:44I'm trying to look forward to a brighter future with somebody I think I can count on again.
08:49And it's a hard argument to give everybody.
08:51And I'm not making any friends right now on March 12th, but I can only give what I think
08:55is going to be practical in the longterm.
08:58That's where I'm at on that.
08:592-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
09:01Can I get your answer on that when we come back?
09:03Sure.
