00:00You got that, Grandy.
00:01What do you got?
00:02What happened?
00:03The Seattle Seahawks just lost a cornerback.
00:07A former Pro Bowl corner, Reek Wollin,
00:09reached an agreement today with the Philadelphia Eagles
00:12for a one-year, $15 million contract.
00:14Reek Wollin.
00:15Hadn't been a starter this past year for the most part,
00:17but now he's an Eagle.
00:18Heard his name attached to the Niners.
00:21I don't know if it's just people hucking stuff off of a wall
00:24on social media, but yeah.
00:26All right, Reek Wollin to the Eagles.
00:28The Seahawks had him at number 34 among free agents this offseason.
00:33The Seahawks have lost a number of people.
00:36They have lost a number of people.
00:39Obviously starting with the Super Bowl MVP.
00:42But their defense has lost, I think, three starters,
00:47if I'm not mistaken.
00:49So, you know, this is always something that crosses my mind
00:54whenever you hear,
00:55and I don't know why we have this thing that we do.
00:59As soon as someone wins,
01:01oh, well, they're going to be a problem for the next five years.
01:07I mean, we've literally seen teams,
01:09the Nuggets did this.
01:10Remember when the Nuggets won a title and they're like,
01:12we're starting a dynasty.
01:13That's what we're doing.
01:14It's like, just stop.
01:16Like, I don't know if the,
01:18I don't even know if the Seahawks are going to be good next year.
01:20They might, I would think, I would predict it,
01:23but the Niners went 6-11 two years ago.
01:27Stuff happens.
01:28You lose people, guys get injured.
01:31Like, this whole idea that,
01:33well, now Seahawks got over the top.
01:36I don't know.
01:37Remember the whole show we were doing about,
01:40well, how big is the gap between the Niners and the Seahawks?
01:42It's tiny.
01:44It's minuscule.
01:46You're all going to have new rosters when you get back
01:49and you're all good.
01:50And people will go 41-6.
01:53Right.
01:53The week before,
01:55it was a 10-point game with a dropped ball,
01:57with a fumble at the one.
01:58So I just, I don't know, man.
02:01Like, this stuff is so fine line.
02:03The journey that they've all got to go on,
02:06the travel schedule, the rest,
02:09the injuries, the free agent losses,
02:11the additions, the guys that do and don't work out.
02:14I think the difference between the Rams,
02:16Seahawks, and 49ers is right there.
02:18I think it's a hair between all three of them.
02:21Impossible to tell right now,
02:22but you look at just last year
02:24and the Niners had five of their games against those two
02:27and they went two and three.
02:29They stunned LA on a Thursday night.
02:31They played a near-perfect game with a backup quarterback.
02:33Then the Rams housed them.
02:35You beat Seattle on a, some would say, lucky play
02:38to take Jake Tonjes in the end zone
02:40and then you forced a fumble.
02:42You didn't steal that one.
02:43You played well, but you won it.
02:45Then you lost a nail-biter and then you got housed.
02:47So, you know, what's the gap between you and Seattle?
02:50Is it the first two games?
02:51Is it the last game?
02:53And same thing with the Rams.
02:54Like, the game you won over LA,
02:56you made a couple of huge plays in there.
02:58They had a boneheaded fourth down play call.
03:01And you get credit for the win,
03:03but I wonder, like, where the gap is.
03:05Is it the close game against LA?
03:07Or is it the blowout?
03:08In general, I know that there's nuance here,
03:10but in general, I think it's laughable
03:13that people would look at the Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers
03:16and look at last year and the records that all three of them amassed
03:20and try to say the Rams and Seahawks,
03:25well, head and shoulders above the Niners,
03:27when the Rams and Seahawks got 17 starts from their quarterbacks.
03:32The Niners got eight or nine.
03:37Like, what do the Rams and Seahawks do last year
03:40if Jimmy Garoppolo is playing half the games?
03:44How do you think that goes?
03:46I don't even know.
03:48Is Milrow the backup in Seattle?
03:50They drafted a rookie in, I don't even remember what round,
03:55third round, whatever it was.
03:57Here's our third string.
03:58Drew Locke, their backup.
03:59Drew Locke.
03:59Former Bronco.
04:00Like, give me a break.
04:02So, and now we're assessing them
04:05without even knowing who there is fully on their rosters.
04:08We don't even know who's on their rosters yet.
04:10Yeah, yeah.
04:11And we're like, oh, the Niners are, I don't know.
04:14They're all really good teams.
04:16Or they all have the capacity to have a great year, I would say.
04:19It just depends on a couple of basic things.
04:22And you talked about Seattle, like,
04:24oh, they're going to be a problem for years to come.
04:26Well, of recent vintage, only one team was a problem for years to come,
04:30and that's Kansas City.
04:31And they went to five Super Bowls.
04:33They won three over a seven-year period.
04:35And it's easy to trace how they did that.
04:39One amazing quarterback who was mostly healthy.
04:42Remember, he got hurt in the playoffs a couple years ago.
04:44He gutted it out.
04:45Last year he got hurt and the season was over.
04:47You have a very good veteran head coach,
04:50and you've got a player personnel director who's able to churn that thing
04:54and keep it moving.
04:55So you look at the Niners,
04:57and they've been mostly good through the Shanahan era.
04:59Really good coach.
05:01They have a really good quarterback now.
05:03Jimmy was good for a while, which helped.
05:04And then it's now going to be up to John Lynch and company
05:08to keep churning that thing over.
05:10And that's where this free agency period and this offseason
05:13and this draft I think is so important.
05:16I agree with you.
05:17I mean, like, Seattle's done a really good job.
05:19I'm not taking any shots at them,
05:20but it's just funny when they play the way they do
05:22and people are like, well, this defense is not going anywhere.
05:25And then two weeks later, three of their starters are on other teams.
05:27Well, their defense did go somewhere,
05:29which happens when you win a Super Bowl often
05:32because you've got free agents.
05:34They just achieved something.
05:36People are going to come after them.
05:38Literally, like, was that not the first big piece of news
05:41in free agency was Kenneth Walker is now the Chiefs running back.
05:45All right.
05:47Didn't Charbonnet tear his AC out?
05:50Yep.
05:50In the playoffs?
05:51That's right.
05:52Okay.
05:53All right, Seattle.
05:53Who's your running back?
05:55You're going to have to figure that one out.
05:56Week one.
05:57Who's your running back?
05:58I don't even know who they have on their depth chart.
06:01So, oh, they're not going anywhere.
06:03They might.
06:04Oh, yeah.
06:05It's George Helani.
06:06Oh, I forgot about him.
06:09How are we going to beat George?
06:12Helani.
06:13Helani.
06:13Yep.
06:14He's a handful now.
06:16We've got Kenny McIntosh as well.
06:18Oh.
06:19Yeah.
06:19Yeah.
06:21I don't know, man.
06:22Every year is so different.
06:23Completely.
06:24And then at the end, we do, whoa, we'll come back here in September.
06:27It's going to be the exact same.
06:29No, no.
06:30Yeah.
06:31It's just not.
06:32Think about just Philadelphia, for example.
06:35And we've been talking a lot about left tackles today.
06:37And they have a great left tackle and a phenomenal right tackle.
06:40And they've got two fancy receivers and a running back who was unstoppable.
06:45Well, they changed out their offensive coordinator for a guy who took the cowboy job.
06:49And you brought somebody in with no experience.
06:51And all of a sudden, you've got an offense that gained a thousand fewer yards than the year before.
06:56And there was many mutinies inside the building.
06:59Even Big Dom was upset at times.
07:02So Philly goes from we are amazing, we win the bowl, to the Niners are going to beat us on
07:08our own field with a depleted roster.
07:11So life comes at you fast.
07:13Sure does.
