00:03welcome back to another edition of straight out of flushing dexter henry my guy the great
00:10tyler ward aka wardy with us what's going on man how you doing dex i'm feeling great we got
00:14another mets pod again it's straight out flushing right here right now yeah man i'll be feeling
00:18good no it's been good let everybody know look the first week has been fantastic we got the fan
00:23response has been great we're excited we're getting closer to spring training i'm gonna say
00:27every week as we're getting close to being done with spring training i should say closer to opening
00:31day which we'll have more for you guys on that we're excited about opening day um i'm doing well
00:36how was your week it was good you know especially in the build up with everything as we do inch
00:40closer
00:41to opening day and there's been a lot of things going on in mets land right now that we've seen
00:44spring training or the past 48 to 72 hours i've been covering on my platforms i'm excited to get
00:49into here in our conversation today because this is going to be a fun one yeah we're going to have
00:53a fun conversation today and what so we had a little just to take people behind the curtain a
00:58little bit right so wardy and i we were talking we were talking about mets players who really feel
01:03are important or impactful to the team this season so we said why don't we give out top five
01:08most important mess players this season now wardy here's the thing importance has different definitions
01:16for everybody right like how you value a player is most important or maybe not as important
01:21but i want you and i want you to share yours and me to share mine as well so that
01:26the fans can
01:27understand how we define importance so how do you define importance when it comes to looking at a
01:31player for this 2026 season you know there are various ways that you can look at a player obviously
01:35and emphasize the importance of them but especially in how we both respectively went about this i want
01:40to emphasize really the guys that are most important in the sense that you need them like they are
01:45literally the guys that you need where if injury happens if something goes awry um your season might be
01:51a cook buddy because you don't have so and so so that is really where my reasoning comes in
01:55when i'm breaking down the meaning of importance as i break down my top five now and comparing and
02:01contrasting that with yours dexter how would you best explain so for me i think more about is if things
02:06go right for these particular players this really improves the mets ceiling right or can also impact
02:13their floor so for some of these players and i think people will see with my list and how i
02:18came up with
02:18things and contrast in comparison to wardy's is that so for me a lot of it is availability that
02:24is huge for me like the best ability is availability right so that is part of a factor in my
02:29list it
02:30wasn't just talent and i think what people will see as we have this discussion is all the players
02:36we're going to mention are going to be important it's just about what level and how important and how
02:40it is to you personally so we're not going to waste any time for you we're going to get into
02:45it so
02:45we're going to give our five wordy will give one of his i'll give one of mine then we'll just
02:49keep
02:50going as we go up from five to one so wardy you're going to kick things off you're going to
02:54lead off
02:55i should say since the baseball baseball podcast you're going to lead off with your pick at number
03:00five who do you have at number five is your fifth most important met going into 2026 okay so who
03:05i have
03:06at number five is a player that a lot of mets fans have a lot of questions for as we
03:09enter the season
03:10not just because this player has been inconsistent in the past in their career but because he's getting
03:15said to play a position that he's never done at the major league level let's break down let's talk
03:18about jorge polanco okay because polanco is one of these players where you know you can absolutely
03:23add him in your mix of guys where if things kind of go as planned if things work out the
03:29way that
03:30you hope if the ceiling hits you have a really really big piece here for first base as well as
03:35another offensive weapon again jorge polanco batted 800 from both sides the plate this past year in
03:40seattle and as we all know is not an easy place to hit there in seattle half a season though
03:44so to
03:44see polanco healthy after a down 2024 season that he dealt with ailment that everyone knows publicly
03:50about um it was great to see him bounce back and be as clutch as possible down the stretch for
03:55that
03:55mariners team dexter i mean not only did we see him walk it off for them to get into postseason
03:59play
03:59but he hit multiple home runs against turk skuble the best pitcher baseball you could rightfully argue
04:04so polanco not only brings the kind of clutch factor that you're longing for in aspects of this
04:09met's lap that they missed last year but you're also bringing in a very diverse player someone
04:13who's played all over the diamond right he's played pretty much every infield position but
04:17first base now so david stern's going with him at first you can look at it one of two ways
04:21you
04:22could say okay we're bringing in a defensive uncertainty to replace what was also a defensive
04:26uncertainty but impede alonzo right but you know might be even worse how does that make logical sense
04:31and i hear you but given how the lap has been constructed and what they really want to amplify this
04:36year
04:36with having again a rotation a mix of players polanco's ability to play both at dh and first
04:42base is really what carlos mendoza is going to lean in on and when i look at a value of
04:47someone like
04:47him i look at polanco as if the mets don't have jorge polanco they don't have a true lock of
04:54a guy
04:54that can go in every day at dh and produce at his level and the same kind of guy that
04:59can give you the
05:00type of confidence that you're looking for at first base from a veteran standpoint baby has the upside
05:05as we know when you look at versatility but there's still plenty and experience with him not
05:09just for first base but being in the league in general how to handle that mark vientos the same
05:14applies but to an even higher degree when we look at the lack of maybe defensive ability so polanco for
05:19all the question marks that he has i look at him and i say this is a player that if
05:23he not only
05:24performs the expectation but really just again gives you what you are signing up for in jorge polanco
05:29this is a game changer for the sense of the mets getting another clutch bat in the heart of their
05:33lab a guy that should be perfectly content and fine at first base when he is there and without
05:39that they don't have that right now you know for all the lack of certainty that they have it would
05:44make things even 10 times worse if jorge polanco was not part of this current equation so i'm gonna
05:50slightly push back and you're not going to push back you know please i just you put him in number
05:55five
05:55and i think there are going to be some mets fans that say woody how could you do that there's
06:00you
06:00mentioned the word you said it multiple times uncertainty there's a lot of uncertainty with
06:04him did you think about putting him higher up because of that uncertainty you know because i
06:10think people might look at them like well who does woody have more important to him especially when you
06:13add in your boy pete alonzo and how everybody feels or doesn't feel about him not being on the
06:20mets roster did you think about putting him higher i guess i shouldn't say push back i have more
06:24questions for you did you think about putting them up higher on your list you know not even for a
06:28second decks and really okay and the simple reason for that is you'll understand once i get from four
06:33to one on my list okay i don't want to give anything don't give it away but it makes plenty
06:37sense i was a little shocked i thought he might be higher for you but okay but you've got him
06:42so if
06:42you think that polanco is maybe a bit deserving to be in say the top three or top four i'm
06:46really
06:46intrigued to see what your list is going to be so let's throw it back to you now it's time
06:50for you
06:50to catch this one and let's go ahead and let it rip with number five all right i caught that
06:55one
06:55because wardy was able to lead off so so great there so for me at number five is a guy
07:00who the
07:01mets looked at last year to get at the trade deadline they finally get him here in the off
07:04season that's luis robert jr nice now look here's why to me he's really important for the mets
07:12we know what this guy could be we saw it a couple years ago the high of him being an
07:16all-star
07:17being a tremendous hitter last year you know okay season right but here's the key with luis
07:23robert jr can he stay healthy you guys heard me talk about this availability availability is the
07:29best ability and we don't know that with him him staying healthy is going to be the key to this
07:342026 season the other thing is you are relying on him the mets that is to play elite level defense
07:41in center field you need him to do that if he's not available what are you doing there we're putting
07:46tyrone taylor back out there again if he makes the team carson benji you're going to try to put
07:50him there we talked about this before the mets don't really see him as that they see more as a
07:54corner outfielder take some of the pressure off him so if luis robert hits and when i say hits i
07:59mean
08:00hits is a fit in for this team in the lineup this is going to be good we know how
08:05gifted he is we know
08:06how talented he is at center field is he going to be there every day now look the mets have
08:09been
08:09taking it easy with him here in spring training he's trying to get healthy i'm sure he'll get some reps
08:15in
08:15as well there too but when you look at the stats right from last year and you look at it
08:20with him
08:20he only played played in 110 games you want more than that from him this year you need more right
08:25than that from this year because look there's uncertainty in outfield let's keep it a buck
08:29right you've got a new left fielder here in soto moving from right field left field although that does
08:35not concern me as much as some other people and i'm sure we'll get to juan soto at some point
08:39in this
08:40later but you have carson bench potentially or mike talkman who could be playing over there mike
08:44talkman's got experience but this is a whole new outfield you know what you like in center field
08:48some stability there but we're gonna bring up that you word again there's some uncertainty here
08:53once more with him you also like to see the average be a little bit higher 223 last year can
08:59he get on
08:59base a little bit better only a 297 on base percentage this is a guy we know can do that
09:04a
09:04bit more he hit 14 homers last year i think the exciting thing for me too is if he stays
09:08in the lineup
09:09it's a stolen base potential that's the real exciting thing for me he can wreck havoc on the base pass
09:13the mets are going to need that i think their team is trying to be a little bit more dynamic
09:16this year
09:17we expect that so for me louise robert jr yes a lot of uncertainty with the health but the mets
09:22need him they need him and they need his defense in center field they need a louise robert and more
09:28ways than one decks because let's i not only agree with you but there's so many reasons as to why
09:35i
09:35agree with you and let's start with the obvious okay under david stearns he's been here now entering
09:40year three as team president what has the mets center field configuration usually been it's been
09:45tyron taylor and harrison bader or tyron taylor and jose siri you know something along those lines or
09:50even chef mcneil was the mets best center fielder in 2025 just to give you guys a grasp how the
09:54season
09:55went yes so now as we enter 2026 you have tyron taylor still here still trying to compete still
10:01trying to stay on this roster you have mike talkman who's perfectly fine in the corner outfield
10:05a few on there at dh separate from bench but louise robert is the biggest wild card in the best
10:13way possible for this mets team okay not only as you highlighted have the mets shown previous interest
10:18in him going back to the traded line and they're like we're not giving up a canes ransom for a
10:22guy
10:22that hasn't had an ops above 700 each of the past year so we can't do that regardless of how
10:27elite
10:27defensively and base running is you need to make sure that you're more in our category when it comes
10:33to value and that happened because he had an additional 20 million added to salary at the end
10:38of 2025 and that made him not nearly as desirable for the amount of assets you'd have to give up
10:44so
10:44the mets give up a cunia they land him they're essentially paying 40 million dollars this year
10:49dex for a outfielder who hasn't put up significant offensive numbers in three years why would the
10:57new york mets and david strins go the lengths to do such a thing and it's because of that 2023
11:01season
11:01it's because the breakout potential is someone who can give you 30 plus home runs have an 800 or
11:06higher ops have you know wrc plus anywhere from the 25 to 50 range if things really go right for
11:12you and you have an elite defender in center you have an elite base runner that can steal north of
11:1630 plus bags for you per season as long as he can stay healthy as you mentioned like louise robert
11:21is
11:21a game changer for this new york mets lab if he at all can perform to what we saw in
11:27stretches while he
11:28was in south side with the white socks on a 500 ball club mind you just imagine what he can
11:34do
11:34batting say sixth or seventh and this mets lab where he's not even viewed as the guy he's going
11:39to get attacked more than ever it's now going to be a clear opportunity where he has now a chance
11:43to
11:44rejuvenate himself get excited about his career again now that he's on a team that's trying to win
11:48a lot of players he's friends with including juan soto who he's been training with this offseason at
11:52the scott boris facilities there's a lot of rapport and connection there as is a lot with mike
11:56talkman his former teammate and they batted backs back in the lab last year robert is the guy the
12:01floor with them is tyron taylor defense and base running and a bat that still will give you more
12:06pop the ceiling is a top center fielder in all the national league if the mets have the floor of
12:12what
12:13you just said to me it's very disappointing now people may hear me say that and be like dex well
12:17why didn't you have him up higher on your list well it's the availability and it's the uncertainty
12:20right that's why he's at number five just want to say i think he's highly important i think the word
12:25you used you said wild card a couple of times yes he's an absolute wild card because if you get
12:29that ceiling that you talked about that looks anything close to 2023 oh now you're cooking
12:35i'll if you get 75 of 2020 23 i think mets fans would sign for that in a heartbeat so
12:42that's why
12:43he's number five for me did i think about putting up higher absolutely but just the uncertainty and i
12:48just don't know if he's going to be healthy if you could tell me you lock it in and tell
12:51me he's
12:51going to play i'll say 135 games just that i'm saying 135 games i think you're good with that
12:58i think you're very good with that yeah because on top of it i think 135 naturally happens not just
13:04from you know unfortunately dealing with slight ailments but just he's gonna have off days you
13:08know the mets are gonna play very smart with them because as of now he's not even gonna be in
13:11physical game action to make his spring training debut that isn't on the minor league backfields at
13:16clover park this upcoming thursday of this week per carlos mendoza met skipper so that's the first
13:22time we're really gonna see true game action and they're doing this because they're slow rolling
13:26the development and working on the progress with his lower half of his body mendoza stated that
13:31we're trying our best to avoid ailment as we get into the season so the mets early in camp noticed
13:37things about robert where maybe the white socks didn't pay as much attention to or pick up on as much
13:41and
13:41that has unfortunately been in the past to their detriment hopefully for the mets they pick up on these
13:46things early enough and you get as you mentioned 135 games out of robert this is a guy that had
13:50800 ops in the second half last year and batted 20 above league average against lefties why won't he
13:55be well you know why can't he perform i don't think it's a matter of if but when he does
13:59all right we
14:00we hope that he does okay we gave our number fives there you go now you're going to number four
14:05go
14:05ahead number four this is a fun one uh because this is a guy that not long ago i would
14:09easily have a
14:10number one you could rightfully argue okay uh you could also argue that he's the unofficial captain
14:15this team just can't make it official because steve cohen's never going to allow that he said
14:18himself and that's francisco lindor okay um lindor had a jekyll and hyde season last year as we know
14:24in the sense of at home hearing my girl seeing his wifey and his kids there electric one of the
14:31best
14:31players in baseball on the road not with wifey now with the kids not looking good just a guy that
14:36was
14:36a shell of himself like when you have an ops north of a thousand not higher at home and you
14:40have
14:41an ops in the 600 range on the road that that's significant and you can't have that with the top
14:46player like lindor you need more consistency with him and i mean it goes without saying shortstop is
14:51arguably the most important position for this mets team outside of center field right when looking at
14:56defensive range then you bring in the plus that you get offensively then you add in that he is an
15:00elite
15:00switch header when he is right like there's so many elements to lindor's game and then you add in the
15:05fact that unfortunately for him he has to start the year late you know he's going to be lucky to
15:09get in
15:09some game action for spring training games before spring's all wrapped up and then he'll be likely
15:14starting opening day we'll be there decks and you're going to see there against those um against
15:18paul skeins and the pirates you know a francisco and door that might not be ready offensively yet
15:23that might look like a bit of a slow roll so even except he starts off slow all the time
15:28we kind of
15:29know i know he does he's very jekyll and hyde with that too it's been rare sometimes he's given us
15:33hot
15:34starts and i appreciate that but i don't expect that i expect the worst i hope for the best that's
15:38the mets fan way but the thing with francisco and door though is that if you have him healthy as
15:43you
15:43anticipate to do if you get him in similar production as you've had he's one of the best
15:48shortstops in baseball and you then you add in the leadership qualities okay for all the captain talk
15:53that we've joked about and we've went back and forth on over the past number of months it still holds
15:57true that lindor has been highly deemed and respected as a leader in this clubhouse for so long for great
16:02reason he's always been a vocal leader it's it's not just about you know walking the walk but he talks
16:07to talk to he does both things simultaneously and having that kind of leader that kind of fixture
16:12in your clubhouse and someone who at his best is so charismatic you know just like freddie peralta
16:16and some of these other players in the smetz clubhouse now like they're just always happy and having a
16:20good time that rubs off on players especially young players really well and i know that if the
16:25mets go anywhere this year it'll be 1000 with francisco and door a massive factor to help them get there
16:31yeah i don't i don't think it's crazy and i know some people may listen to you say that and
16:35be like
16:35well it's obvious with the door he's one of the best players on the team but i think you did
16:39a
16:39great job of showing the value in what we saw with those home and road splits last season right and
16:44if it's a little bit more consistent which we know what can happen we know we can get that
16:48from francisco and door that does change a lot for the met season and listen i don't want to make
16:54everything into some of the clubhouse stuff and everything we heard but i do think you and i talked
16:59about this before i do think with some of the changes now right that are here on the clubhouse
17:03maybe also francisco and door who's an absolute leader in that clubhouse and is absolutely adored
17:08maybe just relaxes him a little bit the same way i think it'll also relax juan soto and other guys
17:13in year two or marcus simian coming in etc i think he's more relaxed i like your pickle and door
17:18there
17:18that's i think that's fine for me at number four i'm going with another newcomer here that's bo bachette
17:24nice okay another good one now look like bachette i've always liked him as a player but we could
17:31talk about the elephant in the room the elephant in the room here is how's he going to play a
17:35third
17:35base now i'm not as concerned about this and i've been talking about this with with one of our
17:42producers here it's like okay look many shortstops have made the move from short to third we have
17:47seen this tons of times in baseball i think it'll be fine with reps right i think we're going to
17:53have
17:53to see the reps now does it need to be looking right yes because the mets have talked about run
17:59prevention we've heard that all at the end of last season david stern said that we were not going
18:04to run prevention it can't be a mess but i think bachette's going to figure it out do i think
18:08there'll
18:09be some growing pains wardy absolutely right do i think there'll be a time or two in the game he
18:13air mails the throw sure it'll happen but i think this guy's committed with reps and when i
18:17asked him that at his press conference and i asked him about that he was like no look i'm confident
18:22and be able to do this i'm going to put in the work he went down early he was working
18:25with
18:26carlos mendoza i think this is a guy that wants to put in the work but what excites me the
18:29most
18:30about him is what i think he'll figure that out it's the bat he's a bat that i like right
18:35i love
18:36the bat to ball skills he's gonna make contact he's gonna get on base last year 3.8 f4 he's
18:43so
18:44valuable to a lineup he's going to keep rallies going this is the kind of guy i love in the
18:49mets lineup
18:49i just think it's great look so far through spring training you know it's four for 15 he's he's doing
18:55all right not to do too much with spring training 583 ops it's limited numbers right it's got a
18:59double six games played this is a guy i think that was a seamless fit into the mets lineup seamless
19:05fit and if he's hitting right and hitting well and even if he gives you i'll say above average defense
19:12at third in year one right we'll see how much longer he is in a mets uniform but if he
19:17gives you
19:17that above average defense i think that is huge for the metropolitans here absolutely huge and i think
19:23he's the kind of guy in signing in an offseason where mets fans you were all disappointed about
19:29the fact you weren't able to get kyle tucker right and then the mets pivoted and got boba shed
19:33i didn't see it coming warty i know you didn't see no i did not right whatsoever but i think
19:39we're
19:39both happy that he's here on the team and i just think that i'm just really excited about his you
19:44know
19:44bat to ball skills that's the thing that excites me the most he's gonna got a guy who's gonna get
19:48on
19:49base he's got a good eye the fielding stuff i think will take care of itself is it a concern
19:55i don't know where you are in this it's a low level concern for me because i expect him to
19:58figure
19:59this out it's a low level concern because the difference between boba shett maybe struggling
20:04at third and mark vientos is that you know for certain bo is going to be able to back it
20:09up with
20:09the bat there is no hesitation thanks okay he has the track record he has every single thing that
20:13you need to have that level of confidence and i love this pick for bo 100 right i mean not
20:18only
20:18does he come from obviously a family where they've been known for having great offense for not just
20:22for him but for his father too this is a guy who's always known hitting from a very young age
20:26he's been
20:27around baseball his entire life you know we think of talking next right before we got started jalen
20:30brunson and him always being around since the start because of his father the same exact thing can be
20:36had with boba shett from the start for him and you've seen that with his performance you've seen that
20:41with his confidence and his comfortability every single time since he made his debut in his early 20s back
20:46in 2020 2021 range as a toronto blue jay with his now teammate again marcus simian who was a
20:51fantastic mentor for him not only is that relationship rekindled great for the mets and i think it'd be
20:56great for them this season and being comfortable right away and acclimated but bichette as you said
21:01with the bat is exactly why mets fans are going to be able to stomach the loss of pete alonzo
21:06a lot
21:06quicker than maybe they initially thought boba shett is as good as any with runners in scoring position i mean
21:12i'm i'm getting giddy thinking about it okay there are a few batters better than boba shett with
21:17runners on base in general throughout baseball i mean we saw this guy batting well above 40 plus
21:21percent above league average over this past year in that regard then you see what he does when it
21:25comes to postseason play oh yeah i need to step up in the world series no problem buddy oh i
21:29need to
21:29hit tanks off of shohei otani what you need more than one okay like what don't you need for me
21:34i will do
21:34for you like that's boba shett has shown every single ability from an offensive standpoint to be like yes
21:40he's worth the 40 plus million the mets are investing and then with the tax it's really 60
21:45plus million yeah but it's that defense dex is the mets are the mets going to be able to get
21:50above
21:50league average defense out of him i don't know i don't know they don't need him to and i think
21:55that's
21:56the best scenario about him they just need him to be that bat first player that he has been in
22:00his
22:00career if they do it's really dope like really really dope if that happens even if they don't i think
22:06the biggest part you made is he's a prime time player we saw this on the stage in world series
22:11last year last thing before we move on to number three warty how many players have we seen the mets
22:18sign over the years come to new york and not be able to handle it right the one thing from
22:23talking
22:24to him at his press conference too and in talking to david stearns about him as well that stood out
22:29to me was like oh they think this is a guy that can handle new york and i understand why
22:32they believe
22:32that we've seen him perform the big stage all the numbers you said back it up this is a guy
22:36can get
22:36on base and i think mets fans should expect him to be clutch now you brought up your boy pete
22:43alonso
22:44and some fans gonna say wow warty he's not gonna have the power pete alonso this man forget all that
22:49forget all that well you know what i want look thank you that's what i want and i want clutch
22:54hits when
22:55it counts that's what matters that's not shade to pete alonso no it's just i think more of what the
23:01mets lineup need and i think you and i agree on that philosophically in terms of team building
23:05but it's just more of what they need and i think he's a guy that just absolutely fits that so
23:09i'm
23:09glad you like my pick at number four yeah you need more clutch players and listen pete was very clutch
23:13last year you could argue that he was at many moments especially in the first half the most
23:17clutch hitter for the new york mets i mean he looked great for a good stretch of time but
23:21like anything else with a slugger like him as a profile you're going to go through highs you're
23:25going to go through lows the beauty about a guy like bichette is that he's even keel even steven right
23:30in
23:30the middle being a steady right around 300 hitter that's going to give you as many doubles as anyone
23:35in literally major league baseball and then have that same if not better production with ryan's
23:40scoring position he doesn't need 130 rbis and 40 home runs to show his offensive value and thankfully
23:46the mets have built a lineup so deep now that god willing you shouldn't have to be a team that's
23:51banking solely on that pete alonso type power as they had to a degree in years past yeah that's the
23:57kind of team i like i don't know what you but that's kind of team i like what people learn
24:00more
24:00about that me in terms of team building all right so boba shed number four for me who you got
24:05at
24:05number three this is short sweet we're going right to it it's juan soto and before you say whoa whoa
24:11warty what do you mean juan soto is a number one guys you're gonna understand in literally a couple
24:16minutes once it gets to number two i promise it makes sense it makes so much sense actually juan soto
24:22is the most important player to the mets from the standpoint of for the amount of money you
24:26invested for him being the face of the franchise and for him needing to be the key focal point into
24:32how far you get from an offensive standpoint you don't look at juan soto for the defense right he's
24:37going to be probably a full-time dh in the next half decade you look at him solely for the
24:41amazing
24:42offense and now over the past year elite base running i mean who had north of 40 stolen bags in
24:47their bingo card year one with the mets i didn't i know you didn't don't stop lying you didn't have
24:52it
24:52so the point i'm trying to make with juan soto and what i love so much about him outside of
24:56just
24:56all the obvious accolades bursting on the scene winning a world series as soon as he literally
25:00replaces bryce harper for the nationals and then has all the success even in new york goes to the
25:05world series in the bronx leaves them to come to the mets i mean what is there not to love
25:09about
25:09juan so the only thing i really have to add to this is is that again you'll understand picks two
25:14and one
25:14here in a second i promise but juan soto as important as ever and there's a lot of pressure on
25:19him you know especially now that the core's gone decks it's soto and lindore's team first and
25:24foremost it wasn't that a year ago regardless of soto being given the big bucks it wasn't his team
25:30he was entering a clubhouse that was already established that clubhouse has been dismantled
25:34it's gone and you know what steve cohen said soto lindore it's time for you guys to help rebuild it
25:39so now it's gonna be up to soto to see how he does a more of this leadership role than
25:43he ever has been
25:44in his career and i think he's gonna run with it between the great success he's having the wbc just
25:50had
25:50a walk-off bomb today that we saw against the netherlands which was awesome but it's now he's
25:54comfortable for the first time in his career he knows he's home decks he doesn't need to worry each
26:00year he can just relax do his thing but now because it's his team he can really get involved in
26:07every
26:07facet in ways that he wasn't doing this time a year ago you know i mean i think i think
26:12it's a great
26:12point you make you make i think last year i'm not saying there's any certainty i think he was
26:16feeling things out the change are coming from the yankees feeling out the organization his teammates
26:20knowing that they're still and alonzo was there mcneil was still there and nimmo was still there
26:25along with lindore it's a great point you're making i know it's crazy to say because 38 stolen bases
26:31last year right i think he's gonna do 40 40 this year yeah i think he's gonna have a major
26:36year i mean
26:37somebody wants to put not telling you to bet but if you want to bet that that might be a
26:40good one
26:41i think he can do 40 40 i know no antoine richardson i get all that but i still think
26:46he's gonna do
26:46a great job on the base pass yeah and i think comfortability is huge so i understand why you have
26:50him
26:51at number three now comfortability you mentioned here a little different than what i went at number
26:57three because i'm not sure mets fans are comfortable with this guy oh i'm not sure you guys are comfortable
27:02and that is devin williams number three most important man this is a good one deck i could have put
27:08this man at number one i could have put him at number one because here's the thing i'm gonna i'm
27:15gonna tell you why he's ranked this high but i'm also gonna tell you why you might want to have
27:20a
27:20little bit of optimism might keyword is might i'm not sure there was anybody on this mets roster warty
27:28that more needs a good start to the season particularly at city field than devin williams if devin
27:35williams does not perform well right because i understand a lot of people miss the trumpets
27:40warty's gonna miss the trumpets i miss the trumpets nobody's happy the trumpets are out in la we get it
27:47but devin williams shaky start with the yankees so there's going to be the talk can he pitch in new
27:51york i just mentioned that about boba shat but what you know about boba shat primetime player you know
27:57that he can get it done can devin williams get it done look didn't start off well for him in
28:02the
28:03bronx last year but here's the optimism a little bit right he did finish with eight wins with 23
28:11holds because he went back into the setup role alternated with luke weaver also on this team now
28:15interestingly enough 25 era whip was 1.19 his numbers were not bad and he was much better in
28:23the second half of the season so if that carries over maybe he's a little bit more comfortable
28:27pitching in new york maybe more comfortable pitching in queens rather than bronx which is the
28:32better place you would want to be of course of course i knew i knew you'd agree with me on
28:35that
28:36if he's a closer that can make mets fans and i know this is asking a lot and it's asking
28:43a lot
28:43for you too warty forget about edwin diaz that means he would have been pitching really really well
28:51the mets need him to be a stopper i still have questions about this mets bullpen and how it's all
28:56going to come about right i'm it's probably other than starting pitching one part of his team that
29:01i'm really like i still need to see more how this comes together but if he's lights out if he's
29:06a
29:06stopper that changes everything for this team the mets need devon williams to look like milwaukee
29:11devon williams just except not giving up that home run of pete alonzo that's what you need him to look
29:15like can he pitch like he did two years ago that's going to be the key now look the fastball
29:21is looking
29:21pretty decent thus far through the spring we'll see how it holds up going forward but i just think
29:27if he's that anchor if he's that stopper at the back of the bullpen and you don't even hear us
29:32saying if we're not if we don't mention edwin diaz's name come mid-may it's a good thing if we
29:39are mentioning his name not so good if this guy blows a couple of saves in april at especially at
29:46city field oh you know the bluebirds are going to be out and it's not going to be good
29:51he might i could argue i said most third most important but he might have the most pressure
29:56than any other met on this roster this year and so this is why he has a high level of
30:00importance
30:00and i think he's got to be good for this mets man i'm glad that you mentioned pressure right
30:04towards the end of everything you're breaking down with t well there because i agree when it
30:08comes to pressure he is probably one of the if not the most pressured player entering year one
30:12year one with the mets but i'm gonna give slate pushback twofold okay just on the following
30:17one devin williams the reason why i wouldn't go the lengths of putting him one is relievers are
30:23so fickle as is that every team needs to build a bullpen that can operate with withstanding
30:28losing a loss of one top reliever and even though devin williams is supposed to be our guy a closer
30:34the mets need to make sure that they are positioned or whether it is from someone else actively in their
30:39bullpen or someone else internally when we think of the ryan lamberts of the world that could be a
30:44future closer for this organization maybe as soon as the season you know i do see people that could
30:49be pieces of the puzzle and saving some games for the mets and not name devin williams this year
30:53so this year okay so this year you see yes okay yes i don't think it'll be solely devin i
30:57think there
30:58will be moments where that changes a bit either because of inconsistencies or just because it makes
31:02sense given the matchup stuff like that do you think that the mets will have a short leash like so
31:08let's say something happens like what i said he blows two games in april i don't think i don't think
31:13they're gonna no i don't think they're gonna have an insanely short leash no because there isn't
31:17really a reason to and um you know i i'm gonna scratch my other point on the pushback let's just
31:22get into talking about d well because the main thing that i noticed with him from what he stated
31:27to the media after arriving with the mets and even just concluding his year with the yankees last year
31:31was that his main reason as to why he did not succeed when he first landed with the yankees in
31:36that
31:36first half was mainly just because he had no clue how to navigate being a new yorker okay it's as
31:41stereotypical as he pry a guy from waukee wisconsin to come into new york in the bronx and just for
31:47him to get acclimated without a problem no it was a big culture shift for him and he was really
31:52navigating just trying to travel to games on the daily and trying to like go about what was best
31:56for that was very not the norm for him and he reiterated that that was key factors between that
32:01and gain a living situation or behind why he did not have the success they had because he had other
32:06things on his mind he just wasn't able to focus which is for the type of regiment that he wanted
32:10once he got in that regimen after that first month and a half two months last year he was perfectly
32:14fine for the yankees for the most part all the underlying numbers are very much on the norm with
32:18his career if not better so i think of devin williams back with david stearns he's been arguably the best
32:25closer in baseball every time that david stearns has been his president or gm so that's all i really
32:29have to look at you're saying the connection is being back with stearns will help him out yes so and
32:33i really
32:34do think it will um because again same thing with freddie peralta for example these are guys that
32:38david knows so well and that's important when you've been with these kids since they were little
32:43teenagers watching their development understanding their mentality understanding what makes them work
32:48and what doesn't and how to adjust if say there is an issue happening something that goes awry
32:54something along those lines williams is unbelievably vital to the mets this year i 100 agree with you
32:59but i do not think he is going to have the early lack of success he had with the yankees
33:05last year
33:05if it happens it happens i hope you're right you know i hope i'm right too because i know how
33:09it's
33:09gonna be you're all gonna throw tomatoes at me i understand i'll inevitably get in the live streams
33:14but it's part of the course we're here to talk mets are we not no it's so you're making a
33:19point that i
33:20i make on other shows and i think it's a fair one so i have to call myself out as
33:24accurately as you put
33:26it out there i think oftentimes when it comes to athletes i'm glad we're having this discussion we
33:31sometimes forget there are people too right they're not robots and devon williams did say
33:36that at his introductory press conference to the media and talked about the challenges of
33:40navigating the city and doing that and yes look if you come from living in milwaukee and going to
33:44the games and i've been to milwaukee and if you're anywhere around the city it's very easy to get to
33:47miller park right and you can just you can just do that it is much different than trying to get
33:51to
33:52the bronx if anybody's been you know on the you know anywhere around whether it's the bqe whether it's
33:58across bronx it can be a nightmare especially before a seven o'clock game so i i get all that
34:04and i and i think it's more than a it's more than a fair point and you just wonder about
34:08that we're
34:09gonna use another word another c word we're using comfortability right how much that can impact him
34:13i think it's a fair point i had skepticism you know when he was signed to be fully transparent i
34:20was
34:20like okay this is a great setup guy for edwin d oh i'm with you i was the same way
34:26i was you know
34:26what i mean i was like this would be a great setup guy for edwin ds and i'm like oh
34:29he's gonna be the
34:30closer now another point you made i thought you made some good points i like the pushback
34:35you're right sometimes we got to trust the people that trust the signings and the people they knew
34:40in terms of developing them in terms of watching them play in terms of watching them perform in
34:45different situations i don't think that david stearns brings this guy in here if he doesn't think he
34:50can handle it now exactly does he have to prove it off of last year because some people might say
34:55and i did
34:55i tried to give some optimism he was really good in the second half when you look at the counting
34:59stats they're not bad for the whole season it's just that first half of the season and yankee fans
35:04discarded him and you know that that was it i think the other point is if he does falter to
35:09your point
35:12how willing are the mets to then go to two other arms is it are we talking luke weaver you
35:17know are
35:18we talking lambert or ross who we've talked about before arms that have a lot of upside for the
35:22mets it shall be interesting but i do think you bring up a good point the final thing i'll say
35:27about him is that you know put some respect on devin williams's name i feel like people just don't do
35:32that enough they go because he gave up a couple home runs a yankee stadium with the short porch
35:37that's a problem he's a two-time trevor hoffman national league reliever of the year award winner
35:41you know who also is a two-time national league reliever of the year award winner edwin diaz okay and
35:46when asked about how is he going to fill the shoes of edwin diaz devin said point blank to the
35:51media
35:51this year to begin spring um can we maybe focus on the fact that i'm really good too like our
35:56why
35:56are we forgetting this like seriously we're gonna let a month and a half two month sample size
36:01completely eradicate what i've done for the past half decade okay that's fine let devin williams go
36:07into the season with a chip on it on his shoulder i'm telling you i like to play with a
36:10chip on the
36:10shoulder i only thing i know too about this wordy is the people want their trumpets back that's what
36:15they want they want their trumpets back it's killing me seeing him rocket for team puerto rico
36:22all right move on to number two to number two what you got nolan mclean very obvious why it's
36:29nolan mclean okay and if you don't know if you don't think it's obvious let me explain why decks
36:34okay let the people know what was the main issue for the mets last year besides not having a clutch
36:38gene in their body from an offensive standpoint going oh and 72 i believe entering the ninth inning
36:43trailing a runner more it was competence in their rotation from june onward from kodai sanga
36:48to griffin canning to tyler mcgill all going down with injury to shaman i never looking comfortable
36:54returning from his second injury and then dealing with another that year as well as frankie montas
36:58having a full month of rehab not looking good coming back and then going down and looking terrible again
37:03the mets had no stability with the rotation for literally over half the season last year no mclean
37:10was the first semblance of stability and that did not begin until he was called up
37:14deep into the second half post traded line as we got into august what no mclean did in just a
37:2150
37:21inning sample size or so was better than anything any other starter did for the mets this past season
37:26dexter and now you add in the fact that this is the first full year for no mclean where you're
37:31hoping
37:31to get anywhere from 150 to 170 innings out of him ideally it's gonna be the heaviest workload for him
37:37if he can bring you that while giving you the performance that you have seen at this point if not
37:41better
37:43the sky's the limit when it comes to the upside with the true leaders in this rotation and mclean
37:49will be one of them and he may very well be the one by time this season has concluded if
37:54not much
37:54before no mclean's that guy i everyone i like i don't know how else to put it and mclean is
38:01not a key
38:02factor for the mets this year i don't feel nearly as confident when it comes to their rotation like
38:09genuinely scared if no mclean is not the guy that we need him to be as things currently stand this
38:15is
38:15gonna be very interesting to who i have as my number two so let me i'm not pushing back on
38:19you
38:19on this i just have a question do you think the mets fan base is expecting too much of nolan
38:25mclean
38:26not you specifically but do you think overall the fan base the vibe the energy you get from the fans
38:31are they expecting too much from nolan mclean no i don't think they are because nolan is the one who
38:36set
38:36the standard you can't just make your mlb debut and have a stretch your first five starts and do
38:41things that almost no other pitcher in major league baseball has done and just think oh we should just
38:46view him as just any other joe schmo this is nolan blank blank mclean we're talking about like that's
38:52the conversation we're in at the moment so no every fan should have the expectation that nolan mclean
38:57should be as good as any top starter in the national league this year that is the bar that we're
39:02setting the bar is an all-star caliber pitcher and hopefully giving you at least 150 innings
39:07that would be huge yes huge and they need it they absolutely do i think a lot of people now
39:13i said
39:13it would be my next one but this will tie into who i get to with number one um because
39:17it's interesting
39:18here but my number two great great points on mclean and i had him he was like on the fringe
39:23of my
39:23list i was i thought about getting him in there my number two is francisco alvarez um actually great
39:29pick yeah really good and for me this ties into some of the other stuff we talked about this is
39:34why this discussion has been so good wardy because you talked about how just having other guys in the
39:41lineup we talked about this with luis robert jr takes pressure off him we've been waiting for alvarez
39:47to to to look like he did when we first saw him come up for the mets we've been waiting
39:51to see that
39:51again where's this guy again now look last year rough year but the key thing for me was he took
39:58the
39:58motion down to syracuse and handled it amazingly well came back got hit unfortunately had the bad
40:05injury luck with with his hand but he really helped the offense when they were floundering in the second
40:11half he was one of actually more consistent producers 970 ops over his final 17 games of the
40:16season we know the power this guy has we know how the pitching staff loves him they love working with
40:21him if he's comfortable at the plate because there's less pressure on him now and he can now
40:28flourish into the hitter the mets and mets fans believe that he can be i think this lineup goes to
40:34another level this is why i have him even higher than a bo bachette i think we know what bo
40:39bachette is
40:39we know he's a professional hitter we know he's going to do uncertainty right and for alvarado we're
40:45going to bring up the u-word again availability i think if he's available with the tweaks he's made
40:50down in syracuse learning last year and he came back with more confidence a full spring training
40:55here he was healthy we got to remember that about him last year wasn't healthy during spring training
40:59missed some of the starter season came back then got hurt again if he's got that and can take and
41:04build upon what we saw for those final 17 games of last year again 970 ops guys he was really
41:11damn good
41:11if he can do that again i think that he can be a consistent contributor to this lineup i think
41:17he can
41:17change this lineup really with just his presence and what he's done and i just think he's going to
41:22be more comfortable this year if he's healthy if he's healthy he swings a lot for this lineup in my
41:28opinion and you know what i think people aren't counting on a little bit you want to talk about
41:32all the power you lost to pete alonzo alvarez with locked in can give you some of that power i
41:38think
41:38this lineup is way more dynamic and i know you agree with me on that but alvarez can give you
41:42some of
41:42that power dex the main thing that fans need to remember what francisco alvarez as he currently
41:48stands his current age most catchers major league baseball are just making their major league debuts
41:54some haven't even yet and he's entering what year four yep okay like i i think we forget that
42:00sometimes it's easy to write off alvarez because he had such a big rookie year that we saw a couple
42:05years ago and even though the batting average and on base wasn't there he's a 21 year old hitting
42:0920 plus bombs his rookie year how who doesn't matter and unfortunately for him you had a former
42:14heading coach that we're not even going to say the name because it's not worth it um to go out
42:17of his way to just pretty much say you know what alvarez we have so much more work to do
42:22instead of
42:22uplifting him and having him continue to work on his power game which is why the mets give him a
42:28fat
42:28signing bonus at the age of 16 out of venezuela all those years ago as a top ifa prospect but
42:33what do i know for just thinking it's best to keep a player in the exact position that he's been
42:37in
42:37his whole career to continue to have success instead of completely thrown in the gutter and
42:41doing something different it's not like alvarez has changed his approach like five times the past
42:45two years just to get a flow of things because he has all these different people on these different
42:49shoulders speaking in his ears saying what's right what isn't finally after going down to triple a
42:54last year working with jeff albert who's working with the mets at the major league level now for
42:58heading and working with jpr and sebia who is now the mets hitting uh pardon me catching coach
43:03who as we know is a former major league catcher those are the kind of people alvarez needs to be
43:08around and hearing constant input on and they're the ones that not only helped him get right towards
43:12the end of last year but they're the same ones that are going to be in his ear constantly as
43:16we enter
43:16now 2026 he's batting 500 already this spring in a very limited sample size but very encouraging
43:23and having a healthy alvarez for the first time since his rookie campaign decks to your point
43:27you think of where do you find that home run power that you lost to alonzo and nimmo it's right
43:33there
43:33you have you have a lock of 20 plus home runs as long as alvarez just doesn't lose his power
43:37swing
43:37but it appears that he's now starting to find that again with the great approach and adjustments that
43:42he has made yeah no i'm i'm really excited to to see what he can do this year maybe more
43:48than any
43:48other player in this mess lineup um because i just i i'm very big on mental approach and i liked
43:54his
43:54approach going down and how he came back he did not soak this guy went down and a lot of
44:00players
44:00would it's it's not an easy game especially if you're going through especially when you hit a
44:04high so early like him you're only like 21 years of age and you have that success and then you
44:09deal
44:09with ailment each of the next like two and a half years throws off any type of consistency you could
44:14have and then you're constantly dealing with you know the boo birds and you know the fluctuation
44:19from the fans from the media from talking heads like myself too where we fluctuate with how we feel
44:24because naturally it's a results-oriented business yeah how do young players handle that some don't
44:28handle it well but to your point alvarez not only handling in stride but it really just shows how
44:33mature he is for such a young age yeah i think that's that spoke volumes to me now look that's
44:38all
44:38nice he's got to produce this year so i know you're not saying that either he's got to get it
44:43done but
44:43it spoke a lot to me that he handled it maturely and that he seems to have the mental makeup
44:48to be able
44:49to play here bounce back from even when he heard the boo birds and i think he wants to be
44:53great so
44:53i like that all right we're at number one already who i'm trying who do you have at number one
45:01at number one drum roll please
45:05it's freddie peralta okay how can it not be freddie peralta it has to be freddie peralta freddie
45:10peralta is the most important player that you landed this offseason if your name is david
45:14stern's president of the new york mets you could say it's bo bichette because of the offense sure
45:18but pitching is what is going to carry the mets this will be their stronghold this year along
45:23with their offense obviously and freddie peralta what would he have done if he was in the mets
45:27rotation last year oh yeah he would have been the mets best starter between easily between
45:31innings quality of innings and obviously those numbers like freddie peralta typically doesn't go
45:37deep into starts like he's not a guy like a sandy alcantara that you're going to consistently get
45:41seven innings out of he's more of that five to six inning guy which is more the norm with today's
45:46game unfortunately but he does that such high quality of a rate and he does it so consistently
45:50that freddie's only one of three starters the past three years that's been able to give you
45:5430 starts or more uh probably nine starters so he's an elite company in that regard over the past
46:00three seasons availability availability it's an important thing but even with the limit limitations
46:05in these starts he still had 176 plus innings last year that would have led the mets
46:09so think about that he would have led the mets in innings for the most part and he would have
46:14been
46:14overall their most quality from start to finish freddie peralta brings everything you want he
46:18brings the charismatic extrovert personality a guy who really wants to be here has stated on numerous
46:23occasions decks this is my preferred destination for me and my family this is what we wanted that's
46:29why i want to be here long term and that's why i do think i think an extension will happen
46:33at some
46:33point this year either before opening day or at some point throughout the course of the season but
46:37freddie peralta just will take this rotation to another level bring a level of certainty that
46:42was so uncertain a year ago for this team and more than anything else you're bringing in a weapon where
46:48you don't trade top prospects brandon sprout and jet williams unless you have the confidence that
46:53this is a needle mover to take you to another level from where things currently are that's freddie
46:58peralta for this mets rotation i love that he he was not on my list because i think i looked
47:03at him
47:03with so much certainty but just because you feel certain about something doesn't mean that that
47:08person's not important right to the point that you are making warty he is important because the
47:13mets need that certainty they didn't have that last year he's an absolute game changer for this
47:17rotation absolute game changer for this entire team for sure now as warty just talked about
47:23certainty yeah i'm talking about my number one let's go to the uncertain number yes my certain number
47:27one and it definitely is that for me number one here is kodai senga okay there we go kodai senga
47:34i don't know if anybody more on this roster and it sounds like i'm saying that a lot about a
47:39bunch of
47:39players how it's a make or break year for me for kodai senga now let me say this i think
47:45you talked
47:45about putting some respect on devon williams name i think we got to put some respect on kodai senga's
47:50name kodai senga if you look at him and you think about it as a signing he's been one of
47:58the mets
47:59actual best signings in the history of free agent signings in the history of this franchise
48:02when he's healthy again availability uncertainty he performs we know that he performs he's got a
48:09career three era okay the mets are 32 and 20 when senga started for them over the last three years
48:17that's the 12th best team winning percentage for a starter in that span with at least 50 decisions
48:22okay that's just ahead of spencer strider and zach wheeler pretty good company pretty good company to
48:27be in there right but we understand that the thing about senga is availability and health got off to a
48:36great start although some people might look at the starts last year at the beginning and say you know
48:40he it was a little shaky maybe it was a little bit of fool's gold he looked pretty dominant he
48:46got
48:46injured came back never looked the same was trying to find his mechanics he's talked about that this
48:52spring training that he was unhappy with his mechanics he's now been working on it feels good
48:56that he's getting back to it the fastball in his first start was really good it really good it was
49:02really really good it was the highest i think he had hit his fastball in two years yeah he touched
49:0799
49:07and he hasn't done that in forever right so and look you and i we're smart enough we've watched
49:15enough baseball we're not going to start you know going crazy over just that but it's an encouraging
49:20sign right we know he can pitch we know what the guy can do we know about the ghost fork
49:27and being
49:28amazed by it and how it can deceive batters but he's got to get it done and put it together
49:33for a whole
49:34season he's got to give you starts he's got to give you innings he's got to stay healthy he's got
49:39to stay confident because again when he's on the mound that stat i just gave the three era and the
49:45mets record in those 52 games it's great it's all 12 games over 500 if he's on the mound the
49:52mets
49:53usually win he's usually giving you a quality start the problem is sometimes he's not on the mound
49:57so for me i think i trust freddie peralta as you mentioned before i think i know freddie peralta
50:05is going to give me i don't know i don't know if kodai sing is going to be there kodai
50:10sing is there
50:11i know what he can do when he can pitch so i think for him it's a lot about confidence
50:15his mechanics it's about availability and if he's there and he pitches we just ask pitch like a number
50:23too because if everything also happens with what you said with nolan mcclain if nolan mcclain is
50:27cooking if freddie peralta is doing what you think he's going to do now if you add kodai singa to
50:32this
50:33wardy's going to be sitting here every time you record and he's just going to be smiling because
50:38he's going to say huh i feel good about this mets pitching staff right now because kodai singa is
50:43showing up and we didn't even mention sean mania who also could probably be put in this category but i
50:49think kodai singa because of his talent and what we've seen of him from his rookie year till now
50:54when he's on the mound and when he's healthy we know what this man can do it's just about him
50:59being
50:59there so if he's there and those other two players you mentioned in the pitching rotation do what they
51:04are supposed to do i'm telling you wardy's smirking already he's going to be smiling from ear to ear
51:09if that happens so that's why for me kodai singa is number one so i think you'll see from my
51:14list
51:14a lot of variance a lot a lot of unpredictability what i need and a lot of questions about availability
51:21but if these things hit i think the mets have a successful season your list i think had a lot
51:27of
51:27i know these things to be certain but if these guys hit the marks that i think they can it
51:33also
51:33gets the mets to where they do both things are true in my oh absolutely and you know especially the
51:38emphasis again with mine is if you don't have these guys performing to the caliber that you're
51:42anticipating all you know what breaks loose it's not going to be good unfortunately just because
51:47then you have major holes that you need to fill and kodai singa is not a player at all i
51:51think
51:51mets fans can bank on at all as a certainty heading of the season that's what's failed us the past
51:55couple
51:56of years right unfortunately again it's tough because of how great that 2023 campaign was where
52:01he was a scion and a rookie their final rookie their finalist now as we fast forward three years later
52:06entering 2026 the villa looks great so far this spring as you mentioned dexter but this is a player
52:11where if you get kodai singa looking more like 2023 or a bit of the first half from 2025 but
52:17better
52:17pair that with mclean and peralta doing their thing i promise you every single time that i'm coming to
52:23studio here in manhattan for our segments i'm gonna be strutting just like peter parker when he has a
52:28venom suit on and he just does not have a care in the world okay that's exactly how i'm gonna
52:32feel
52:32deck so that's what that's what i was thinking right away when you said i'd be happy and every mets
52:36fan
52:36would be happy it'll be electric and but here's the thing with kodai sanga the ceiling is as good
52:42as anyone in the rotation and the floor is someone who's still in triple-a syracuse so that gap is
52:48significant and the way that there's a gap for luis robert in floor versus ceiling that's what kodai
52:54sanga is for the semester rotation so which side are we gonna get this year we're just gonna have
52:58to weigh and see damn that that ceiling the floor gap in the comparison to luis robert
53:02kind of like that you know it's funny i had them one in five they yeah i like that because
53:10the gap
53:10for them is so huge but if they're hitting and look here's the other thing we know we've also we've
53:15been watching sports for a long time right all this stuff that we're talking everybody's not gonna hit
53:18so so nobody's gonna hit at what their numbers are we hope so somebody's gonna have a down year
53:25let's just hope it's somebody we don't expect or somebody that's not on either of these lists
53:29right that's what we're someone that isn't as relevant that's irrelevant no offense to the other
53:33new york mets i love them all but like you know who you are you know who you are so
53:37so so we'll see
53:38i like your list your list was your list was so no your list was good too and i like
53:41the fact that
53:42we were able to play off of each other's having different types of lists no over no overlap or
53:45anything like that so that was good but i definitely want to hear from the mets fans it's the most
53:50important thing how do they feel about who are the players are really going to make or break
53:54this mets 2026 roster that's what we want to hear so as we wrap here what we want to hear
53:59from you is
53:59we want to hear in the comments let us know who you think do you agree with my list do
54:06you agree with
54:07warty's list what's your only put your top five in the comments let us know what you think about this
54:15is there a player that we left off is there somebody that we didn't mention that we should be we'll
54:19be
54:19thinking about you know that that's it we'll have more fun we'll do more stuff like this throughout
54:23the season as we look at players who need to do things people like fives people like top fives
54:28oh yeah people love lists do you love lists oh yeah they're a lot of fun and they're simple and
54:32they're great for debate that's the main thing there we go yeah and see what do you know we had
54:35we had
54:36a little you know come questions we had some pushback we challenge each other's thinking that's that's
54:40what's good it's good discussion from the fans that's all i do all right that is my guy tyler
54:44warty he has his list i had my list i'm dexter henry we are gonna get out of here we'll
54:50catch you next
54:50time on another edition of straight out of flesh peace out everybody
54:56you
55:01you
55:03you
55:05you
