00:00Today, as the offseason begins, I feel like the Mets are much further away than they were at this
00:05time last year. It just felt like they were on the brink of a really good run and then somehow
00:11didn't even make the playoffs this year in a six-team league where maybe there were five good
00:15teams or five very good teams, and they didn't make it with their high $300 million payroll and
00:21Juan Soto and Alonzo, et cetera. John, as we go into this offseason and the hot stove has now
00:27fully begun, I wonder, let's start with the Mets. Where do you think the Mets are and what do you
00:31think they have to accomplish this offseason? Yeah, they got a lot of work to do. They got to
00:36put together a whole pitching staff. I mean, last year they made the biggest signing in baseball
00:39history. Well, in terms of interest, Otani probably beat it, but in terms of money, it was number one.
00:48And right now, it feels like they got a long way to go, right? Their rotation is kind of in flux.
00:53The bullpen is kind of half empty or three-quarters empty. There's a lot of work to do. Alonzo is a
01:00free agent once again. They don't have a center fielder. I mean, the Yankees are in good shape
01:04because they have a rotation that's really good with Cole coming back as well. Their rotation's
01:10in as good a shape as anybody except maybe the Dodgers. And, you know, they've got a few things to
01:16do. But, yeah, I'm with you. The Mets, I don't want to say starting in square one, they got a $765
01:22million right fielder and a $342 million shortstop. But they got a long way to go.
