00:00Real Deal McLean comes up aces in first spring start in reminder of huge potential.
00:06Lightning McQueen is at it again.
00:08Sorry, I got a three-year-old. He loves the movie Cars.
00:10But the aliens have to study Nolan McLean's rise
00:14if this kid becomes New York sports' next success story.
00:17This guy has gone from prospect to Team USA pitcher just like that in a blink of an eye.
00:24And if he shows up in his outings in the World Baseball Classic,
00:28the Mets have found their ace before spring training has even ended.
00:33Forget that whole argument of, oh, he's not experienced enough to be an ace just yet.
00:39He's done everything he's needed to do to put himself in position to get the start on opening day.
00:46He came into the scene and impressed in eight starts after being called up to the Mets in mid-August
00:52of last season.
00:53We all saw it. He's pretty much dominated in spring training.
00:57We all see that.
00:59But now with all the eyes on Nolan McLean at the World Baseball Classic,
01:05he has to answer the question himself,
01:08is Nolan McLean ready to be baseball's next ace breakout star?
01:13Only time will tell, and we'll see at the WBC.
01:16But, you know, to wrap this up, to quote LeBron James,
01:20pressure is a privilege in sports.
01:23And this kid has that rare opportunity in New York sports to take that pressure
01:29and turn it into diamonds on the diamond.
01:32For more on McLean, WBC, and the Mets spring trading,
