00:00One text which says, you guys are talking about A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans.
00:06You better be happy with Romeo Dobbs.
00:10I mean, I don't know.
00:13But that's what you're going to get if you don't trade for an A.J. Brown.
00:18What if Romeo Dobbs had a Camry?
00:22Courtney would be like, hell no.
00:23I don't even know if it was a Camry. I'm just saying it was a beat-up car.
00:26Yeah, I understand.
00:27If you're looking at free agency, those are the players that you're getting.
00:32You're getting guys that you already have on the roster, right?
00:38Romeo Dobbs is the type of player that might get you 5, 6, 700 yards.
00:43Hollywood Brown is the guy I kind of expect.
00:45Right, but you already have that on the roster.
00:47If you look at Hollywood Brown's production, a Romeo Dobbs production,
00:51and then you compare it to, let's say, Booty or Pop Douglas
00:56or Matt Collins.
00:58Very similar.
00:59Very similar.
01:00That's what you're getting.
01:01So we're talking about you let a 1,000-yard wide receiver go,
01:08and now you have to replace that guy with your 1A technically.
01:15Let me ask you this question.
01:17I'm not saying that it would be the right way to look at it.
01:20I'm asking if they are.
01:22Are they looking at Drake at this point as somebody who elevates a receiver?
01:28No, they can't.
01:30Yeah, I wouldn't think so.
01:31Too early.
01:32Yeah, way too early.
01:33You can't rely on that.
01:34And I don't think Vrabel is going to be duped after one great season
01:38that they don't have to do much to build around him.
01:40Because we all saw what – look at what happened to Mahomes and Brady
01:43when teams stopped building around them.
01:45Yeah.
01:45Like, you know, at their absolute peak, Mahomes and Brady could elevate
01:50in a way that other quarterbacks haven't,
01:51and I don't believe that Drake May is there yet.
01:53To be fair, Patrick Mahomes won, what, two Super Bowls post-Tyreek Hill?
01:57Right.
01:57That's what I'm saying.
01:58Like, he won two.
01:59Brady won several without – you know, with Chris Hogan.
02:01But those are the outliers.
02:03Yeah, but they were at – by that time, they were at, like, elite, elite status.
02:07Right, and – but let's be honest.
02:10Hold on real quick.
02:11Let's be honest.
02:13Brady had the greatest tight end to ever step on the football field
02:17than Rob Gronkowski.
02:19Like, there's been a couple years where Brady had, like, guys you're like,
02:22well – but there were – those –
02:24So he still had Gronk.
02:25But I think the big difference is that none of these guys were signed in free agency.
02:29Like, that's – that's –
02:30No, no, no.
02:30When Brady did have talent, it was because of draft,
02:34or you got him at a very low value like with the Randy Moss trade
02:36where you're throwing away a fourth round pick.
02:38Right, and let's keep our facts on the table here
02:39that when the Patriots were down 28-3 late in the third quarter of Super Bowl 51,
02:43Gronk was not in that game.
02:44No, no, no.
02:45He wasn't.
02:46But we're talking about the production that Gronk –
02:49But it's a great apples-to-apples with Mahomes and Brady.
02:51They each had top tight ends of all time.
02:53Yeah, and that's what I'm saying.
02:54Like, I think when you start to look at those guys were at elite status
02:58and they still had, you know, some of the elite position players
03:03in the sense of tight ends where Kelsey was still at that level.
03:06You don't have that.
03:08You had guys who were middle of the road like a Wes Welker elsewhere
03:13who came here and were elevated by – at the time,
03:17we thought it was the whole entire thing, the system, Bill Belichick, et cetera.
03:22It was probably Tom Brady.
03:24Yeah, it was – it was definitely Tom had a big pot in the West.
03:29Well, if you end up with somebody like Dobbs, you're not going to get –
03:32you don't believe you can say you're going to get that same elevation from Drake May yet.
03:36But Bill Belichick deserves credit.
03:38I know I'm saying that because he found guys that had specific skill sets
03:42that fit into their offense.
03:43And he was brilliant at knowing exactly what you could do best
03:46and highlighting that and avoiding the weaknesses.
03:48I don't think this Patriots organization is at a point where they can cut corners
03:52in terms of paying talented players to come here.
03:55But if they have done business that way forever, do they fall into that trap?
03:59Like, mentally.
04:00But that would be Robert Kraft saying – like, I can't imagine that Mike Rabel came back here
04:05and said that this is how I want to build a roster.
04:09I feel like you – I mean, he has been basically begging A.J. Brown at press conferences
04:14to come to the Patriots.
04:15I mean, I think he knows talent is essential.
04:18And he has ultimate faith in himself, Greg, that as Courtney and Wiggy were talking about
04:22that Mike Rabel believes he can help anybody come in and fit on this roster
04:27no matter what they did elsewhere.
04:28And then you've got to factor in.
04:30You have to look at it because, you know, Wes Welker and the role that he played
04:36in that slot receiver, right?
04:38You can get away with that guy being very good and being very productive,
04:45but it also helps out when you have a Randy Moss next to you, right?
04:51And so if I went back and look at Wes Welker's career and start to look at his numbers,
04:57very good numbers.
04:58It helps when you have a Moss or like Julian Edelman.
05:01Well, I was going to say, in the position, you have the example of Edelman.
05:04But you have Rob Gronkowski next to you, Edelman was a quarterback in college
05:08and you were able to bring him in here, identify him as a guy who might be able
05:12to play that position.
05:13That's Bill with the help of Tom Brady on the execution.
05:16But it also helps out that Gronk is able to take the majority of the pressure
05:22off of Edelman, right?
05:24So that's what it starts to look like.
05:26And yeah, they won Super Bowls when Gronk got hurt or those type of things.
05:30But if you look at their offense, their offense was built around Rob Gronkowski.
05:35And Tom Brady's ability to elevate and Julian Edelman still being able to put in work
05:41when Gronk was there, those things can't coexist.
05:45Curtis, confirmation needed for the Twitch chat.
05:47Did you just give Bill Belichick a compliment?
05:50I sure did.
05:50Okay, good.
