01:42and put a really good game together so you can get back in the win column yeah i agree with

01:47i think anytime there's a coaching change you know i think that that team is motivated to play for
01:53whatever reason that always happens um but but but i also think we're riled up you know and um
01:59you know we had luke keekley here yesterday he was on campus for his uh project life drive and
02:05he spoke to our team and it was unbelievable and i think that's just uh you know it's good timing

02:11us we had a great practice yesterday you know i really do believe that practice execution really
02:16does lead to game execution and so we got to have a good one today and see what happens but
02:21you know i think we're we're we're a team that is a tough football team and a resilient team
02:26and we we played like crap last week and and uh we need to go out there and be ready

02:31believe we will be bill when you sit at four and four and you know that you need two more

02:36be bowl eligible do you as the head coach think of that do you look at the rest of the

04:48since you spent some time at alabama about um these rivalries and where they end up going based on kind
04:56of the new world order in college football and and so lsu alabama this weekend they have played
05:03once annually since new york times had an excellent piece i read yesterday on this played annually since
05:091964 but they will not play next season because of the sec's new scheduling model um is there a danger
05:18there that some of these rivalries go away in college football going forward yeah that that's i think
05:25that's exactly one of the major problems with college football i mean to think that that alabama
05:32is not going to play lsu is i mean if you've ever been to that game i was fortunate to
05:37coach in two
05:37of those games i mean those games are incredible and you know even even when you think about like
05:43the old and i know bc people get riled up with this but like the big east schedule right you
05:48know
05:48pittsburgh syracuse boston college like those were and we still play those teams those were
05:53unbelievable regional rivalries but now you know when you have to fly out and play cal
05:57and play stanford like you know it's just i hope someday i hope someday uh that it goes back to
06:04regional rivalries and regional conferences i think when the tv contracts are up in 2030
06:10uh i think you'll see a realignment of conferences but until then it'll be
06:14some you know just ridiculous travel scenarios and all these other things
06:20bill when you when you look at your team and you talk to your team
06:23and you obviously these kids are like everybody else watching football around the league on saturdays
06:29are you constantly beating into their heads like hey you look at north carolina they almost
06:34they almost beat miami florida state almost beat like i know it's cliche but any given saturday if
06:41you guys play to the level that you can play you can compete with the best teams in your conference
06:47thank you every single day wig i i use the example of uh wisconsin beats usc then usc beats ohio

07:01then iowa shuts out wisconsin and and in the last two years i was beating wisconsin 67 to nothing
07:09you know you you think you need to reinvest curtis i mean think about if you're wisconsin
07:15so like you know like i i just think you're exactly right if you can cut out all the bs

07:22and and and eliminate mistakes you know and play as good as you can a clean football game

08:13with like you know he had to actually it was me dante kind of ran the interview and then myself
08:19and brian ference he was the tight end coach we would stand him all right look you know you have
08:23to block a seventh technique how are you going to do it bang it was i mean he was wearing
08:27us out but
08:27at the end his shirt was ripped his buttons were off his shirt i mean he you know it's just

08:33and so there was later in the day you know there was like hey where's gronk you can't find him
08:38because it's a whole day experience back then when we did it and it's like where is he where is
08:43he and
08:44so finally somebody said you know i think he's upstairs outside of nancy myers office and so
08:48we go up there so i didn't go up there but somebody went up there and there's just like this
08:52little circular table right across from in a little closet room this guy's six foot seven 260 pounds
08:58and he's actually curled up on the table taking a nap i think he had had a rough like we
09:06were his
09:07last pre-draft visit and i think he had been to several visits and he was just worn out and
09:11you
09:11had to like the picture of him you know taking a nap curled up on a circular table that wasn't
09:17any
09:17bigger than most circular tables was incredible and uh you know bill bill was the one bill talked to
09:24stoops his college coach because you know we were concerned about injuries and you know all these
09:29other things and and bill said no stoops stoops that said this guy's a future nfl great and so
09:36we we drafted him and the rest is history the guy the guy came in as a rookie i had
09:40him for two years
09:40his first two years and he's incredible incredible person and uh great player it hard to do but where
09:48do you rank him all-time tight ends we asked boomer that on monday hard to do hard to do

09:54to do number one number one he could block number one he could block he brought toughness to the

10:29will go empty and and so it was an incredible time and tom loved it and uh and yeah i
