00:00I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
00:41A photograph captures a moment, but the Scottish Cup creates memories that last a lifetime.
00:52Eight teams remain. Different journeys, different players, all share the same ambition.
01:05One step away from Hampden, another picture waiting to be taken.
01:14Some have filled photo books for years. Others are ready to fill the pages.
01:27The Scottish Cup. The next iconic photo awaits.
01:38Hello and welcome to Scottish Cup sports scene from the three most photogenic characters the BBC could dig up at
01:46short notice.
01:47Darren O'Day and Kevin Thompson are with me to look back at the weekend's four quarterfinal ties.
01:52The controversial aftermath, the one of them, and how the semi-final draw matched up the winners.
02:00Well, let's start at Ibrox, where the Old Firm met for the second Sunday in a row after their two
02:05-all draw in the league last week.
02:07Paul Mitchell is the commentator.
02:11League business takes a breather, but there's no let-up in the competitive stakes.
02:16For the third time in the last decade, Rangers and Celtic meet in both Cup competitions, as well as four
02:22league matches.
02:23This season's Super Six sees Rangers to the league edge, while Celtic triumph in the League Cup meeting.
02:30There were some heated scenes at the end of last week's game.
02:33Is it water under the bridge, or is the dam waiting to burst?
02:37We await the outcome.
02:43Rangers led by two goals last weekend, but their second-half performance was shallow by comparison.
02:50Two changes made by Danny Rowe.
02:52Nassajiga replaces John Suter, who previously started all matches against Celtic this season.
02:57And Mo Diamondi is prepared to touch Chukwani.
03:01Celtic had a successful midweek trip to Aberdeen to flip above Rangers in the table.
03:06The big news today, no Callum McGregor, who misses just his second Old Firm game in the last 30.
03:12Three changes to the side that won at Aberdeen.
03:15In addition to McGregor, Javan Chara drops onto the bench.
03:18Kieran Tierney is out.
03:20The latter is injured.
03:22Austin Trusty returns after suspension.
03:24Benjamin Negrin, the top goalscorer, is in.
03:27And last season's Player of the Year in Scotland, doesn't matter, gets a start.
03:39Chumiti attacks Arthur.
03:42That might break for Chumiti, he's got a great record in this fixture.
03:46And he felt he was fouled as he got the shot away.
03:50Well, the referee was following the flight of the ball.
03:57Got the chance, stepped inside.
04:00Certainly got clipped as he got the shot away.
04:03Martin O'Neill lost his first away game.
04:06Back with Celtic.
04:08Against Michelin.
04:10Unbeaten in the next 11.
04:13So, Salo, on to Negrin.
04:17There's a shout for handball, but McEwen, almost dispossessed by Raskin.
04:22Here's Moore.
04:25Mikey Moore, right through the heart of the set of defence.
04:27Chumiti, great block.
04:29Don't trust him, but was it his hand?
04:31There's the question.
04:33And the ball is out of play.
04:34And the first work for VAR, Andrew Dallas, and Matthew McDermott.
04:40Well, Moore simply drove at the heart of the Celtic defence.
04:45Now, Woz trust his arm up.
04:49Now, VAR have checked and accepted it was natural.
04:55You just never know.
05:00Hello.
05:01Hello.
05:01VAR, VAR, VAR.
05:03VAR, VAR.
05:04VAR, VAR, VAR.
05:04VAR was there.
05:05Down to Butland.
05:10Cermitti.
05:11Nadiri's through.
05:12Here's the opportunity.
05:14Good tracking back.
05:15Austin trusty.
05:17And Julian Arraha completes the clearance.
05:21There was a little glimpse for Rangers.
05:28Here's Diamandic.
05:31Romance.
05:32On to Moore.
05:37Moore.
05:39Goes for the byline.
05:40Wants it back on the right foot.
05:42Great ball.
05:42Trusty headed away.
05:45Bet that well lost in trusty.
05:47Now Celtic have missed him.
05:51Diamandic.
05:52Martin O'Neill is out.
05:53The very edge of the touchline.
05:54He's concerned.
05:56Artha's given it away.
05:58Romance with the footwork.
05:59Chance for Rangers.
06:01Cermitti blocked by Trusty.
06:03Back to Moore.
06:06Austin trusty being back has been Celtic's biggest positive of the day.
06:12Trusty can be trusted.
06:15Lovely flick on by Cermini but look at the way Austin trusty read that beautifully.
06:28O'Neill has got some space.
06:31O'Neill has got some space.
06:34O'Neill has got some space.
06:34O'Neill into the middle, into Yang.
06:38Yang.
06:38He's set of four.
06:40The corner kick, Yang.
06:42Nice and 80ed against Rangers.
06:46This season.
06:48At McCowan.
06:50got that in well
06:51Fernandes
06:53way ahead and eager on that one
06:55McCowan has another chance
06:56that's flicked on, chance, goal for Celtic
06:59and doesn't mind it as a goal scorer
07:0312 matches without a goal
07:05he's longest route as a Celtic player
07:07but he's turned the tap on today
07:10and Celtic take the lead
07:14well the first one was dealt with well
07:17and the second, Luke McCowan
07:20now they're checking for possible offside
07:23impossible to tell from that angle
07:25but doesn't mind it with a diving error
07:29to put Celtic ahead
07:30Jack Butler with a different dive of his own
07:33couldn't keep it out the back of the net
07:36little bit of magic from Midor
07:41Celtic leading at Ibrox with the opening goal
07:43for the first time since April 2024
07:47as it stands
07:48but will it stand?
07:57simple answer
07:58it won't
08:01and there
08:02is the line showing
08:04Liam Scales was offside
08:05his header setting up
08:08doesn't mind it
08:18they wanted too long
08:20and Sterling rubbed him
08:23Sterling into the middle
08:24there's a touch
08:26Chirmity
08:28well Sebastian Tenepty
08:30holds his hands up to his teammates
08:31because he caused this problem
08:33the Rangers nearly made them pay
08:36look at the run
08:36with Yosef Chirmity
08:39and almost guided it over
08:42Sunesalo
08:44Celtic are unbeaten in 90 minutes
08:46in the last 21 Scottish Cup games
08:49of course going down in the final
08:51after extra time and penalties
08:52last season to Aberdeen
08:54sent on the angle
08:55Nadiri's brought it down
08:58Chirmity with a chance
08:59would have been offside
09:04this caused a few
09:05green and white hearts
09:06to flutter
09:08Chirmity
09:08good save from Sunesalo
09:10he didn't know
09:16scares with the captain's armband
09:18under left back position today
09:20gets this one moving
09:21here's Negrin
09:24Midas making a great charge
09:25into the area
09:26Romans right alongside him
09:28that's a goal kick
09:32doesn't matter
09:33good turn of speed
09:34but he was matched
09:35all the way here
09:37and to Romans
09:40signed on a three and a half year deal
09:42is looking like a good purchase
09:43for Rangers
09:51Chirmity
09:52two doubles in his last two
09:55Old Farm League games
09:58Romans
09:59on to Moore
10:00Rangers fly
10:01here into the middle
10:02great touch
10:02back again
10:03to Moore
10:06Corny
10:10Austin Trosti
10:11for me
10:11he was the best player
10:12on the pitch
10:13for Celtic
10:13in the first 45 minutes
10:16and he continues
10:17to show
10:18his worth
10:19clipped that away
10:20once
10:21and then a second time
10:27Celtic
10:27everybody
10:28inside their own box
10:29they've got nine players
10:31inside their own
10:31six yard box
10:34there's the corner
10:35comes in
10:35Fernandes
10:36blocked
10:36almost in
10:37and off the line
10:40Arthur away
10:42the sheer weight of bodies
10:43that Celtic had
10:44in that six yard box
10:45I think there was
10:46ten by the time
10:48that came in
10:49Fernandes up
10:50won the header
10:50actually blocked
10:51from Giga
10:52and to Nick
10:53take
10:53on the line
10:57Kusama's
10:58first involvement
11:00Chermiti
11:03some players
11:04would have looked
11:04for a corner there
11:05but he always wants
11:06a little bit more
11:08Kusama
11:09it's deep
11:10Romans
11:10tried to bring it back
11:11but nobody had read it
11:13at the edge of the area
11:13Yang was fouled
11:16Laskan
11:17steps in
11:19Laskan
11:19Kusama
11:20Chermiti
11:22and again
11:23it's Austin

11:24with a block
11:28Danny Roe
11:2931 matches
11:30now into his
11:31Rangers career
11:32and certainly
11:33Rangers
11:34have turned around
11:38Sterling
11:38good slide
11:39by Scales
11:42badly weighted
11:43pass by Scales
11:44that time
11:44Nadiri
11:46Chermiti
11:47back on the inside
11:48Nadiri
11:49Kusama
11:49little bit of
11:51Bagatello
11:52on the box
11:52off green and white
11:53legs
11:55Rangers
11:56threatened
11:57looked onside
11:58Chermiti
11:59with a cheeky
12:00back heel
12:00Kusama
12:01blocked again
12:02by Trusty
12:03who's been
12:04outstanding
12:07to Romans
12:11Niko Raskan
12:12almost made it
12:131-0
12:15Kusama
12:16trying to find
12:17his way through
12:18Hitati
12:20and Hitati
12:21draws the free
12:21kick
12:26and Benjamin
12:27Negrin
12:28the Celtics top
12:29goal scorer
12:30this season
12:30he's just kept
12:32them
12:32in the Scottish
12:34Cup
12:36Sinisala
12:37with a salvo
12:37forward
12:39Celtic
12:40trying to
12:40create the
12:40chance
12:41Chermichara
12:42Negrin
12:42at the edge
12:43of the area
12:46Bayrami's off
12:47to the races
12:48here
12:50Chermichara
12:51was all
12:51alone
12:52but they're
12:53going themselves
12:54and it comes
12:55Chibane
12:56steps inside
12:57brilliant block
13:01Kusama
13:02played it
13:02through
13:05cut back
13:06inside
13:06beautifully
13:07there was Murray
13:08getting the block
13:09on
13:18Murray heads that
13:19away
13:19on the
13:19Sparami
13:20Chermichara
13:21is through
13:22here's the
13:22opportunity
13:25and Celtic
13:26do just
13:27enough
13:28and Dane
13:29Murray
13:30takes up
13:31the mantle
13:31of goal line
13:32clearance
13:33and that was
13:34an excellent
13:34piece of
13:35defending
13:36joined his
13:37goalkeeper
13:37made it hard
13:38to get past
13:39and Rangers
13:40have a corner
13:44Tavernier
13:45calls
13:45a chance
13:46for Rangers
13:46it's in
13:4971 handball
13:51it certainly
13:51will be checked
13:52but Emmanuel
13:53Fernandes
13:54takes credit
13:54and Rangers
13:55have made
13:56the breakthrough
14:00it's his
14:01third old
14:02firm appearance
14:02it's his first
14:03old firm
14:04goal
14:05now did it
14:06run down
14:06his arm
14:07that's the
14:07question
14:08I think
14:09that's handball
14:11Fernandes got
14:11the header
14:12away
14:12it came back
14:13to him
14:14and the
14:15hand has
14:15been used
14:17this is coming
14:17back
14:19and it's the
14:20Celtic fans
14:21to cheer
14:22a goal
14:23chopped off
14:23by VAR
14:26but it's
14:27correct
14:29Emmanuel
14:29Fernandes
14:30putting Rangers
14:31ahead
14:31so he thought
14:32you've got to
14:34hand it to
14:34VAR
14:35they spotted
14:36the issue
14:51he had waited a hundred and three minutes for a chance like that
15:02Hattati
15:05there's a little bit of larceny to come from Celtic
15:09look up round the corner
15:11James Forrest goes in
15:12Forrest for Celtic
15:16Rangers had to be back
15:17and they were
15:18John Suter
15:19there will be no throw in
15:21referee Don Robertson
15:22has brought it all to a halt
15:25it will be penalty kicks that will decide
15:27the Scottish Gas
15:29Scottish Cup
15:30quarterfinal tie
15:31but after 120 minutes
15:33it's nil-nil
15:35James Tavenier
15:37who missed in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final shootout against Celtic
15:42is first to take the kick at Ibrox
15:45in this quarterfinal shootout
15:48off the crossbar
15:51and immediately it's advantage Celtic
15:53and James Tavenier
15:55normally so reliable
15:59Oxlade-Chamberlain
16:01came to Scotland
16:02for big moments
16:03this
16:04is a big moment
16:07as calm as you like
16:09advantage Celtic
16:10the lead by 1-0
16:12waited till Buckland made the move
16:15and the little chip down the middle
16:17to Ned and Blau Rame
16:21Sinasalo
16:21dancing across his line
16:25Barame didn't buy it
16:31lots of movement
16:32just underneath the body
16:34Austin Trusty
16:37beautifully done
16:42one of these never-in-doubt penalties
16:46Ryan Nadere's latest
16:48opportunity to impress
16:50is it clinical German efficiency
16:53or is there to be some finesse from the fin
16:55got a hand to it
16:59well they came close again
17:00but Ryan Nadere can breathe out
17:03with a tad of relief
17:05real Hattati
17:08who out thinks who
17:11Hattati wins
17:15there was much more emphasis on that penalty
17:17than the one last week
17:21Rangers need this
17:22Ghassama
17:24oh it's way over the top
17:26it wasn't even close
17:30he stepped up
17:32he leant back
17:33and he fired it into the Copland stand
17:38Thomas Chavanchara
17:40has a chance
17:43to send Celtic through
17:45Chavanchara
17:49Celtic are through
17:54they took all the Rangers
17:56had to throw at them
17:57and found a way past
18:00the greatest rivals
18:04and it's Celtic who go into the semi-final
18:09well it wasn't the greatest of games
18:12but sadly it was pretty much overshadowed
18:15by some shocking scenes
18:17after the final whistle
18:18which we can't really show in any detail
18:20because of the ongoing police investigation
18:22there was a pitch invasion
18:24by both sets of fans
18:25flares and fireworks were thrown
18:28and it really did get very ugly for a while
18:31shocking scenes
18:32the Scottish FA afterwards said
18:34they condemned the behaviour
18:35from supporters entering the field of play
18:37following today's Scottish Gas
18:39Scottish Cup quarterfinal
18:40at Ibrook Stadium
18:41an investigation will be carried out
18:43immediately
18:44in line with the judicial panel protocol
18:49and the police afterwards said
18:51that the scenes were shameful
18:52a number of arrests had been made
18:55their officers faced extreme hostility
18:58and violence
18:59and they will be working
19:00with both clubs and the SFA
19:03not much you can say about that
19:05lads
19:05it was absolutely awful Darren
19:07wasn't it
19:07yeah it is yeah
19:10I can understand
19:11the Celtic supporters
19:12kind of
19:13the jubilation they're in
19:15they've folded onto the pitch
19:16but the reaction that comes from
19:18the range of supporters
19:19and then ultimately
19:20it turns into a
19:21standoff in the middle of the pitch
19:22which we can't have
19:23for Scottish football
19:25but yeah
19:26so there'll be an investigation
19:27and it'll be dealt with accordingly
19:29yeah
19:29and the bottom line is
19:31fans shouldn't be coming onto the pitch
19:33for any reason
19:34whether it be celebration
19:34or anything else
19:35yeah it's unacceptable
19:36it was ugly
19:37I think the biggest thing as well
19:39is we've just got the big
19:40crowds back in
19:41you know
19:42sell out
19:43me and Darren
19:44we're lucky to play in these games
19:45when you have the away fans
19:46or the home fans
19:47it's what we want to see
19:48but to then see that
19:50after the game
19:51when we're thinking about
19:51promoting the game
19:52as best as we possibly can
19:53it's unacceptable
19:54I'm pretty sure everybody
19:55that went on the pitch
19:56will regret it
19:56because I'm pretty sure
19:58there could be a few people
19:59that potentially lose season tickets
20:01potentially lose that opportunity
20:03to go and watch games in the future
20:04yeah
20:04no doubt about it
20:05let's hear what the managers
20:06had to say about it
20:09there was a lot of euphoria
20:11of course
20:12when you just want a penalty shootout
20:14those type of things may happen
20:16but I would need to have
20:19some sort of analysis of it
20:21you know
20:21before start making
20:22some silly comments
20:24are you concerned though
20:25there will be
20:25some sort of repercussion
20:27that would impact
20:28what you're saying
20:28there could be
20:29that I don't know
20:30but yeah
20:32so in the heat of the moment
20:34I'm hoping that
20:35both sets of fans
20:37didn't cross the halfway line
20:40when we were told by security
20:42I certainly was on the field
20:44at the time
20:46just acknowledging the away fans
20:48and then when the security
20:50told us
20:50get off now
20:51as quickly as possible
20:52I thought we tried to do that
20:53but I need to have a look
20:55and I will see
20:58not that whether I see anything
21:00it doesn't really matter
21:01it's for authorities
21:02I'm not sure how much you saw of it
21:04but it was very unsavory
21:06do you have a comment to make?
21:07I'm sure the club will in due course
21:09but from what you saw
21:10it's not what we want to see
21:11is it?
21:12No I didn't see it
21:14I'm asked inside
21:16yeah if there's something
21:17heading down to the pitch
21:17nobody wants to see this
21:18it's about football
21:20and we should respect them
21:21we could bother guards
21:22of course
21:23last one side
21:23there's a phone at one side
21:25it's sort of right
21:27but nobody likes you for
21:28it was a tough afternoon
21:30I knew it would be
21:30of course
21:32Ibrox away from home
21:34for us
21:34for the second time
21:35in a week
21:36but our fourth game
21:37in 10 days
21:38I knew that we'd get tired
21:40during the course of proceedings
21:41obviously as we talked about
21:43the news beforehand
21:44with Kieran Tierney
21:45and Callum
21:47missing out
21:47makes the task
21:49even more difficult
21:50but I thought the players
21:51showed phenomenal courage
21:53great great determination
21:55and a rearguard action
21:58which is really commendable
22:00there's no question
22:01I think 120 minutes
22:02we are the better team
22:05we are the active team
22:06we create a lot of opportunities
22:07chances
22:08but yeah
22:09you also didn't disrespect
22:11the defense
22:12in the final action
22:13really well
22:15but
22:15from my point
22:17I cannot blame a team
22:18or something like this
22:20how we play good board
22:20the shootout
22:22the shootout
22:23is a little bit
22:23a lack
22:25yeah
22:25you score
22:26you didn't score
22:27but
22:28when you speak about
22:29one and not 20 minutes
22:31then
22:32we deserve to come through
22:34again
22:34in seven days
22:35today
22:36we played them out
22:38of the board
22:39and if you're looking
22:40for evidence
22:41to underline
22:42that assertion
22:43from Danny Rule
22:43the astonishing statistic
22:44is that Rangers
22:45had 24 shots
22:47at goal
22:48Celtic had won
22:49and that was off target
22:51let's talk about the game
22:52which was a disappointing one
22:53in a lot of ways
22:54not if you're a Celtic fan
22:55I suppose Darren
22:56but you were interested
22:57in the Rangers shape today
22:58well yeah
22:59mainly because
23:00it was the thing
23:01that stopped Celtic playing
23:02now missing
23:03Callum McGregor
23:04before the game
23:05you knew it was going to be
23:05a problem for Celtic
23:06but I was impressed
23:08with how Rangers
23:09went about stopping them
23:11they essentially went
23:12into a man-to-man
23:13really aggressive shape
23:15their midfield
23:16was kind of
23:17based in a diamond
23:18their front two
23:18they put front two
23:20up against Celtic's
23:21two centre-backs
23:21and they locked off
23:22the middle of the pitch
23:23and pushed Celtic
23:24off to the side
23:24you can see here
23:26when Celtic were on the ball
23:27the Amanda would be
23:28the one to jump through
23:29onto the controller
23:30who was Luke McCown today
23:32and invariably Celtic
23:33couldn't find a way out
23:34and when it did go
23:34to the side of the pitch
23:35this is when
23:36they were so aggressive
23:36you can see even
23:38Giga
23:38in the picture there
23:39at the bottom of your screen
23:41and this is where Rangers
23:42played the full game
23:43and it was because of
23:44how aggressive they were
23:44out of possession
23:46and invariably Celtic
23:47didn't have the option
23:49to go over it
23:49because they don't have
23:50the physicality
23:51on the top line
23:51again you can
23:52again see it here
23:54that's Fernandes
23:54stepping right into the pitch
23:56I think it's on Tenegrin
23:57and Celtic have to go long
24:00I have to agree
24:01I think the biggest thing
24:03for Danny Roald
24:03what he's done for
24:04Rangers Doogie
24:05is that he's made them
24:06really compact
24:08they've obviously
24:08brought in Romans
24:09obviously the captain
24:10didn't play today
24:12Dujan Sterling
24:13they give them
24:13real energy in wider areas
24:15which allows people
24:15like Mikey Moore
24:16to come in the pitch
24:18I just think Danny Roald
24:19kind of hits the nail
24:20on the head really
24:21the final touches
24:22that final bit
24:23the bit of quality
24:24that can make the difference
24:24and to have 24 shots
24:26and goal
24:26to be so dominant
24:28making Celtic really
24:30struggle to get out
24:30and to create
24:31any opportunities
24:32themselves
24:32to then not put the ball
24:33on the back of the net
24:34as a sin for Rangers
24:35that is the bottom line
24:36no matter how well
24:37organised they are
24:38how well you defend
24:38how well you stop
24:39the opposition playing
24:40you've got to take
24:41your chances
24:42and Rangers just
24:42didn't do that today
24:43yeah and I think
24:44that'll be the
24:45it's probably been
24:46the Achilles heel
24:47I know they've scored goals
24:48when you think
24:48he's your mate
24:49I think Dujan Sterling
24:49does brilliant here
24:50I think the biggest thing
24:51that Rangers done today
24:52was when they actually
24:53did win the ball back
24:54they then went forward
24:54really quickly
24:55I'm not so sure
24:56he can do much more
24:57here is Schermitti
24:58it's a difficult one
24:58I think he possibly
24:59could go his right foot
25:00round his left
25:02here's a scramble
25:03I think it was actually
25:04Finectic at the back post
25:05that manages to scramble it away
25:06but I'm actually really surprised
25:08me and Dad spoke about it
25:09that nobody actually
25:09fits Fernandes up
25:10a free run Dujan
25:12he probably should score
25:13I don't know how Celtic
25:14keep it out of the back of the net
25:16and another missed opportunity
25:17really
25:19you see this one again
25:21the bit about Schermitti
25:22that I really like
25:23is see when the ball turns over
25:24he runs forward
25:25really quickly
25:26I thought when this
25:27happened live
25:27he could get to the ball
25:28he could take a touch quicker
25:30it obviously bounces high
25:31he doesn't quite get under
25:31and just snaps at his shot
25:33this one as well
25:34he actually does really well
25:35to stay loose
25:35I don't think
25:37Trusty and Dane Murray
25:37do particularly well
25:38going towards the Celtic goal
25:40good ball in
25:41and it's one that
25:42obviously should score
25:43but you know
25:44I think it's really
25:45disrespectful
25:45I don't think
25:46that he scored two
25:46obviously last week
25:47one of the best goals
25:48we've ever seen
25:49obviously a hat-trick
25:50against Hearts
25:50it's a few weeks back
25:51as well
25:51so he's certainly
25:52produced in the big games
25:53but today
25:54obviously fell a wee bit short
25:55Celtic clearly
25:56were missing a lot
25:57of first choice players
25:58Darren
25:58but they defended
26:00so well today
26:01some real last ditch
26:02tackling
26:02and it was impressive
26:04yeah and it's
26:05it's been something
26:06probably they've not
26:07been known for
26:08but you see a row here
26:10and Trusty
26:11the speed to recover
26:13and that was a big
26:14feature play
26:15Trusty was
26:16was the best
26:16you could argue
26:18best player
26:18in the pitch today
26:19it was a massive
26:20massive call
26:21to bring him back
26:21into the team
26:22after midweek
26:24he's been suspended
26:26but today
26:26he was absolutely
26:27magic
26:27see a clear here
26:28he's quickest off
26:29his feet as well
26:30to make a second block
26:31and he was massive
26:32for them today
26:32but right throughout the team
26:34I even think of Rio Atate
26:35who's just not had a good season
26:37you wouldn't think of Rio Atate
26:39putting in a shift
26:39like he did today
26:40but they all did
26:41and this was fantastic
26:42this is what Celtic
26:43had to do today
26:44they weren't at their best
26:45they just had to be good teammates
26:46and this is what
26:47good teammates do
26:48not playing well
26:49but run back to your own goal
26:50as quickly as you can
26:51and Dame Murray
26:52makes a big big block
26:54and that was really synonymous
26:55with how Celtic
26:56got through the game
26:57because they didn't play well today
26:58they didn't play well in possession
26:59but what they did do
27:00is stick together as a group
27:01and just defend
27:02and defended really really well
27:03yeah
27:05there were two disallowed goals
27:06which we're actually
27:07not going to show
27:08because there's no real argument
27:09about them Kevin
27:10the Maida offside
27:11and the Fernandes handball
27:13both disallowed by VAR
27:14no real argument about either
27:16however
27:17possible handball
27:18from Austin Trustee here
27:20yeah I don't think
27:21there would be any debate
27:22about the other two
27:23this one
27:24I think me and Daz are in agreement
27:26that
27:27if it hits his other hand
27:28that we'll see here
27:29just as his school more goes to it
27:31I think he does brilliant
27:32Kenny echoes what Daz just spoke about
27:34you know last ditch tackle
27:35putting bodies on the line
27:36and you can see this one
27:37I think if it hits his
27:39his back arm
27:39as in his left hand
27:41that we can see here
27:41because it hits his right
27:42and his right's tucked in
27:43next to his body
27:44I don't think he makes himself
27:45any bigger
27:46I think you could argue
27:46that it's in a natural position
27:48I think if it goes past his body
27:49and hits his left hand
27:51that's obviously out for his body
27:52I think Rangers would have a good case
27:53for a penalty
27:54but I think
27:54I think they got the right decision
27:56that one
27:56and talking of penalties
27:58the Rangers penalties
27:59were shocking
28:00to be absolutely honest
28:01even the ones they scored
28:02were not good penalties
28:03yeah
28:04it was the first one
28:05that set the tone
28:06because
28:07James Tavernier
28:08is
28:09is a sure thing
28:11normally with a penalty
28:12I think he's just set the tone
28:13the Rangers penalties
28:14were really really poor
28:15and Celtics
28:16were clinical
28:23the sad thing though
28:24as we said
28:25is that despite the fact
28:26that there was all that action
28:28going on on the pitch
28:29the headlines tomorrow
28:30sadly
28:30will be made
28:31by events
28:32after the match
28:33and that is
28:34to everyone's regret
28:36I'm sure
28:37right
28:38before today's two guys
28:39kicked off
28:40we already knew
28:41the first two teams
28:42into the semi-final draw
28:43after Falkirk
28:44faced Indy United
28:45on Friday
28:46and in Fernland
28:47welcomed Aberdeen
28:48last night
28:48Liam McLeod
28:49and Richard Gordon
28:50are the commentators
29:03Brodillo
29:05Spencer
29:05and the header
29:07is in
29:09Barney Sear
29:12right in front
29:14to the United supporters
29:17just pushing it away
29:18can't get enough
29:19on it
29:19Barney Stewart
29:20a layup
29:21nice composed finish
29:26Spencer back out to
29:28McCann's
29:28a wicked ball
29:29and it's 2-0
29:32and Finn Yates
29:34and Finn Yates
29:35is through Falkirk
29:37in a wonderful position
29:44get a chance to get back
29:45onto this
29:46Will Ferre
29:47opportunity here
29:48and a goal
29:51Eskysen
29:52in first half stoppage time
29:56you're looking for a bit more
29:57from the United
29:58they've got a goal
29:59out of nothing
30:00but it's a powerful side foot
30:02from Eskysen
30:12Kane lays it off for Fraser
30:15now on the left foot
30:16throw about the cross
30:17now he does deliver
30:18Todd is waiting
30:19headed down
30:20shot
30:21what a strike
30:23what a strike that is
30:25and it's Maddie Todd
30:27who has lashed it
30:29into the roof of the net
30:30I tell you what
30:31Richard
30:31he has got a lot to do
30:33in that moment
30:33to control on his thigh
30:35get the connection
30:36on the half ball
30:37it's a fantastic finish
30:44Fraser
30:45what a pass that is
30:46for Thomas
30:47through the middle
30:48has to score
30:49and he does
30:51it deflected back
30:53off meetup
30:54I think
30:55wow
30:55just wow
30:56what a ball
30:57by Fraser
30:58very fortunate
30:59he's finished
30:59Richard
31:00but there's no
31:00taking away from it
31:01Dunfermline
31:02been well up
31:02for this tie
31:03Kane tries to get
31:05in front of Mil
31:05and Dunfermline
31:07do rescue the ball
31:08here's an opportunity
31:09as Kane
31:10plays it
31:11for Thomas
31:12he goes into the box
31:14lost shot
31:15what a goal
31:16what a finish
31:17it's a second
31:19of the night
31:20for Ole Thomas
31:21that could well
31:23settle this cup tie
31:24the holders
31:26look to be on the verge
31:28of crashing out
31:29Dunfermline
31:30are history makers
31:32and heading
31:33for the semi-finals
31:36yes
31:37great wins
31:37for Falkirk
31:38and for Dunfermline
31:39and now to the last
31:40of the four quarter
31:41final ties
31:42tonight's meeting
31:43of St Mirren
31:44League Cup winners
31:45but struggling
31:46in the premiership
31:47with just three wins
31:48in their last 15 matches
31:49facing championship
31:50title challengers
31:52Partick Thistle
31:52who are unbeaten
31:53in their last seven
31:55commentary
31:55from Alistair Lament
32:00colourful displays
32:01all round
32:01to the Smyza Stadium
32:03the semi-final
32:04line-up
32:04is almost complete
32:06and now
32:06St Mirren
32:07and Partick Thistle
32:08prepare to scrap it out
32:09for that last place
32:10in the draw
32:13Stephen Robson
32:14has made a couple
32:14of changes
32:15to decide
32:15they're lost
32:16at Tannadise
32:17midweek
32:17with Declan John
32:18replacing Scott Tantor
32:20at left wing back
32:21while Jake Young
32:22gets his reward
32:23for a goal
32:24in that United
32:24defeat
32:25with a starting place
32:26instead of rolling
32:27the dough
32:27Mark Wilson
32:29is somewhat stymied
32:30by having two players
32:31on loan
32:32from St Mirren
32:33as well as a couple
32:34of other Cup-type players
32:35and an injury
32:36as referred to Logan Chalmers
32:37two changes
32:38from their last game
32:39with Ben McPherson
32:40returning
32:41along with Ben Stanway
32:42as McBeth
32:44and Smith
32:44drop out
32:46he's taken short
32:47Thistle
32:48going to try
32:49and work something
32:49here
32:50Le Sosa
32:50played it back
32:51and it's Stanway
32:51now
32:52and he'll try
32:52and get the shot
32:53oh
32:53oh he's so unlucky
32:56almost the perfect
32:58start from Thistle
32:59who worked the corner
33:00beautifully
33:01and Ben Stanway
33:03within
33:04an inch or two
33:06of opening
33:07the scoring
33:08Shavale George
33:08was completely
33:11statuesque
33:11wrong footed there
33:17here's John again
33:18in a well-advanced
33:21area
33:22Ohara
33:23oh they've hit the post
33:25as well now
33:29it's a fantastic ball
33:30in the back of the deck
33:31John there
33:32Mark Ohara
33:32opens up
33:33and just puts it
33:34into an area
33:35killing Phil
33:35that's what he does
33:36best
33:36attacking the box
33:37gets his head on it
33:38just can't get it
33:39in the back of the deck
33:40but that's off the woodwork
33:42as we approach
33:43the half hour mark
33:46it's Ohara
33:47to deliver
33:49it's in Taku
33:49the area
33:50no submitted player
33:51attacking that
33:52Samuel he got
33:53closest to it
33:54and I think
33:54must have got
33:55something on it
33:55to take it behind
33:59the whip ball
34:00from Mark Ohara
34:01in the six yard box
34:02no takers
34:03of a submitted player
34:08this corner's been
34:09taken short
34:10breaks back the way
34:11to Ohara
34:12off Crawford
34:15gets the bat
34:16from Bacchus again
34:17Ohara's ball in
34:19Ashcroft
34:20heads clear
34:23and there is
34:24going to be
34:25a review here
34:28for
34:29handball check
34:31let's have a look
34:32at this Scott
34:45it's a natural position
34:50it's Crawford
34:55yeah there's the decision
35:02and Dan Lundaloo
35:04is going to get
35:05the opportunity
35:06from 12 yards
35:08get his name
35:09on the score sheet
35:10for the first time
35:10in the competition
35:17Josh Clarke
35:18being way back
35:19onto his line
35:20by David Dickinson
35:25as up steps
35:26Lundaloo
35:27to strike this
35:30there's the open goal
35:31and it's Dan Lundaloo
35:33who's made the difference
35:37cool and composed
35:39enjoyed that one
35:40step up really
35:41confidently
35:42another little jump
35:43just before he sends
35:45Josh Clarke
35:47the wrong way
35:48go ahead
35:50really half so
35:51thistle
35:51well in this game
35:56Freckleton now
35:57slides it forward
35:58for Ohara
35:59it's a good ball
36:00it's Diggler John
36:01it's a good stop
36:02from Josh Clarke
36:03and it had to be
36:10lovely play from
36:11St. Byron
36:13great position
36:14Declan John
36:14takes up
36:23Felix pounces
36:24Lundaloo
36:26he's got Jake Young
36:27to his side
36:28chance here for
36:28St. Benin
36:29for the second
36:32and Jake Young
36:33pounces once again
36:35two goals in two games
36:37for the striker
36:41and that's just before
36:43half time could be
36:45absolutely crucial
36:48Sosa plays it
36:49inside
36:50he's just
36:50a little slack
36:51just there
36:51from Fissel
36:52doesn't have a picture
36:54Dooloo pounces
36:55lovely slip pass
36:57the weight's perfect
36:57for Jake Young
36:58to come on
36:58to that first time
37:01slams it home
37:16Lundaloo
37:17can't get it
37:17laid back to
37:18Ohara
37:18it's
37:19Declan John
37:20it's side netting
37:22well
37:22I think a few people
37:23on the ground
37:24thought that was in
37:24and I kind of
37:25half thought that
37:26myself
37:26for a split second
37:28but Declan John
37:30very close
37:39here's Alex Samuel
37:40who's going to go
37:41for goal
37:42and it looked like
37:42it was on target
37:43before Shamal George
37:44got the fingertips
37:45to it
37:47I like that
37:48from Samuel
37:48took an early shot
37:49to Poggy
37:50but by surprise
37:57comes again
37:58a glancing header
37:58the reflection
37:59takes it behind
38:00of King
38:02the Thistle fans
38:03rise
38:05they feel
38:06there might yet be
38:07something in this
38:08cup tie for them
38:16the next goal
38:17it could really
38:18change the momentum
38:18it comes to
38:19Steinway
38:20what a strike
38:31what a great set
38:34piece that was
38:35and Steinway
38:36with the
38:37unerring volley
38:37from the edge
38:38of the box
38:39right into the bottom
38:40corner
38:40and Thistle
38:41are alive
38:42once more
38:49it comes to the back
38:51post
38:53McPherson
38:53is going to go
38:54for goal
38:55Samuel threw himself
38:56headlong at that
38:57but couldn't make the
38:58connection
39:12McPherson
39:14start it out
39:15and it comes back
39:15into the back
39:16post
39:22looking for the
39:23free kick
39:23there
39:25not giving
39:25event
39:25and Thistle
39:28only seconds of
39:29inning
39:29and they've won it
39:30back here
39:31then robbed
39:32but it needs to go
39:34forward
39:34the referee's put the
39:35whistle to his
39:36lips
39:36and he's blown
39:37for full time
39:40well
39:41a fiercely
39:42contested
39:43four to final
39:44tie
39:50he finishes
39:51at the
39:52Spicer Stadium
39:53submitting two
39:54after Thistle
39:55one
39:57you know
39:57I thought we were
39:58comfortable in the
39:58first half
39:59you know
39:59we started the
40:00second half
40:00well again
40:01could have went
40:013-0 up
40:02and didn't
40:03and you're
40:03playing against
40:04the side
40:04that are very
40:04confident
40:05they're winning
40:05games on a
40:06regular basis
40:06in the
40:07championship
40:07which
40:08we aren't
40:09at the moment
40:10and that's
40:10obviously a little
40:11bit of apprehension
40:12and nervous
40:13decision making
40:14and we never
40:14had a platform
40:15to get up the
40:15pitch the last
40:1620 minutes
40:16due to
40:17the personnel
40:18that we had
40:18to bring on
40:19due to injuries
40:20and they're a
40:21good side
40:22but we found
40:22a way
40:22and that's
40:23something that
40:23has been
40:24missing
40:24but I'm
40:25very proud
40:26of the boys
40:26that have
40:27battled through
40:27and got another
40:28trip to Hamden
40:28we're going
40:29along nicely
40:29in the game
40:30and then
40:30a decision
40:31that I just
40:32can't get my
40:33head run
40:33I'll be honest
40:34and I don't
40:35know where
40:35we go over
40:36this
40:36Bob Hats
40:37Crawford's
40:38foot and
40:38onto his hand
40:39when his hand's
40:40tucked in
40:40and we lose
40:41a goal for the
40:42penalty so we're
40:42behind
40:43second goal
40:43is your mistake
40:45and I'll take
40:45that in the
40:46chin because I
40:46ask our players
40:47to play
40:47and that's
40:48always the risk
40:49if you just
40:50don't get it
40:50right you might
40:51get punished
40:51but after that
40:52I thought we
40:53were terrific
40:53and I thought
40:54we were
40:54unfortunate
40:55not to get
40:55any closer
40:57But it's
40:58St Mirren who
40:58remained on
40:59course for a
41:00cup double
41:01that was an
41:02entertaining cup
41:02Ty Kev I think
41:03the three of us
41:04thoroughly enjoyed
41:04watching that
41:05coming in and it
41:06could have gone
41:07either way
41:07Yeah two different
41:08perspectives for the
41:09managers as well
41:10I think I have to
41:11echo what Mark
41:12Wilson said
41:12really unlucky
41:13obviously the penalty
41:13decision I think
41:14changed the game
41:14a wee bit
41:15gave St Mirren a
41:16wee bit of blood
41:17and they obviously
41:18then kicked on
41:19got their second
41:19goal
41:20but he always felt
41:21perfect
41:21obviously a wonderful
41:22goal to get them
41:23back in the game
41:24but I felt that
41:25they were going to
41:26get that equaliser
41:27and really put it
41:28to St Mirren
41:29but listen fair play
41:30to them they've not
41:30been winning many
41:31games and they go
41:31over the line
41:32and as we all know
41:33in cup competitions
41:34you just need to get
41:34over the line and get
41:35into the next round
41:35We're used to having a
41:37VAR argument every
41:38weekend aren't we
41:39now we seem to be
41:40having an argument
41:41about penalties every
41:42weekend I don't think
41:43any of us fully
41:44understand the rules
41:45let's look at the one
41:46that upset Mark
41:47Wilson so much
41:48was this a penalty?
41:50This is absolutely
41:52ridiculous
41:52I can only
41:54I can only
41:55defence I can give
41:56is they
41:57haven't seen
41:58the deflection
42:00upon his right foot
42:02onto his left hand
42:03but the rule is
42:04I know it
42:05which clearly maybe
42:06I don't know it
42:07or we don't know it
42:07is if it hits off
42:08your own body
42:09onto your arm
42:10it isn't a penalty
42:11which clearly it hits off
42:12so I can only imagine
42:14they haven't seen that
42:15but the whole point
42:16in VAR is you can
42:16watch it back
42:17a million times
42:18which they do
42:19so it is inexcusable
42:21to be honest with you
42:22and I can understand
42:23rightly why Mark
42:24Wilson's not happy
42:25and it was VAR
42:27that called the penalty
42:28the actual game
42:28was stopped
42:29while it was in motion
42:30we heard Fadi
42:32obviously Doogie
42:32talking
42:33and he thought
42:33that he potentially
42:34missed it as well
42:35you can obviously
42:36see clearly
42:36we've got hindsight
42:37and we've got to
42:38watch it a million times
42:39but so do VAR
42:41and for the game
42:42to continue
42:42for it to then
42:43go back
42:44you feel a wee bit
42:45hard done by
42:46because the harsh reality
42:47is they've done
42:48wonderful this year
42:49part of Thistle
42:49they've got to
42:50where they've got to
42:51and as Mark Wilson
42:52rightly said
42:53you don't mind
42:53if it's a mistake
42:54but if it's a decision
42:55like that
42:56that changes the course
42:57of the game
42:57it can be difficult
42:58wanting to swallow
42:58so Thistle
42:59can possibly complain
43:00about the penalty award
43:01can't complain
43:02about the second goal
43:03that was just very much
43:04a big Thistle mistake
43:06to set up the chance
43:06for Jake Young
43:07yeah it is
43:08and this is actually
43:09full back inside the pitch
43:10which you'd see in a lot of
43:11and they played some
43:12great stuff
43:13part of Thistle
43:14throughout the game
43:14and actually
43:16Mark Wilson touched on it
43:17after they made the mistake
43:18they went straight back
43:20to it
43:20which shows a team
43:21that's very sure of themselves
43:22but St Mirren
43:24a very aggressive team
43:25Stephen Robinson
43:26always does his homework
43:27will have done that
43:28and made the most
43:29of nicking it
43:30and Mark Wilson said
43:31he takes that in the chin
43:32as a manager
43:33when he sets his team up
43:33but I thought
43:34part of Thistle
43:35across the piece
43:36were really really
43:37a good side
43:38and you can see
43:38why they're doing
43:39so well in the championship
43:39yeah
43:40and they did score
43:41the best goal of the night
43:42actually
43:42Ben Steinway's strike
43:43what a great goal this was
43:44yeah pretty special
43:46loved his interview
43:47obviously after the game
43:48saying that he had mentioned
43:49to obviously try and pick him out
43:50he recognises
43:52there was a bit of space
43:52on the edge of the box
43:53but I get a bit of fortune
43:55obviously going through
43:56obviously the leg
43:57that's in Mirrenpler
43:57but I'll probably get the finish
43:59eyeing the ball
44:00great technique
44:01knee over the ball
44:01and it was the least
44:03that Partick Thistle
44:04deserved to get
44:05it gave them that opportunity
44:06to have a wee go
44:07I thought in the last
44:095-10 minutes
44:10they probably were
44:11a wee bit more patient
44:11than they probably
44:12should have been
44:12I thought they should have
44:13got it forward a wee bit quicker
44:14to try and put a bit more
44:15pressure on St Mirren
44:16they looked to me
44:17like they were hanging on
44:19as Steven Robinson rightly says
44:20they couldn't quite go up
44:21the pitch St Mirren
44:21but it would have been
44:22interesting to see
44:23if they did get that utilised
44:24or who would have went on
44:26and won the tie
44:26Thistle left now
44:27to try to catch up
44:28St Johnson
44:29to win the championship
44:30and of course
44:31after those
44:32we saw the draw
44:33for the semi-finals
44:34and here's how it worked out
44:36Celtic against St Mirren
44:39Dunfermline against Falkirk
44:41you have to smile at that one
44:42two great rivals
44:43God they'll love that semi-final
44:45ties to be played
44:46the weekend of the 18th
44:47and 19th of April
44:49now in any other
44:50Scottish football season
44:52Darren
44:52you'd say
44:52well Celtic must be favourites
44:54to win
44:54but in this season
44:56are they?
44:58I've no idea
45:02in a roundabout way
45:03I'm glad
45:04obviously I'd like to see
45:05Celtic go on
45:06but I'm glad to see
45:07Dunfermline and Falkirk
45:07play each other
45:09Neil Lennon obviously
45:10has done a fantastic job
45:11to get Dunfermline to that stage
45:12and John McGlynn
45:14Falkirk are one of my favourite
45:15teams to watch this year
45:16I think he's done a brilliant job
45:17so it'll be good to see
45:18one of them in the final
45:19obviously I'm hoping Celtic
45:22reverse the result
45:23that they had in the cup final
45:24against St Mirren
45:24but they won't need to be
45:26versed in how difficult
45:27that game will be
45:28Dunfermline and Falkirk
45:29can you pick a winner
45:30on that one Kev?
45:31Well my brother-in-law
45:32is the assistant manager
45:33at Dunfermline
45:33Kevin MacDonald
45:34so unfortunately
45:37I'd like to see
45:38Dunfermline obviously win
45:40So there we are
45:41it's been an eventful weekend
45:42of Scottish Cup football
45:44hasn't it?
45:45and a bizarre weekend
45:46for Scottish sport
45:48Saturday afternoon
45:49we were celebrating
45:50that stunning
45:51Scotland victory
45:52at Murrayfield
45:5324 hours later
45:54the aftermatch
45:55seems at Ibrox
45:56embarrassed everyone
45:58coming up
45:59on Friday night
46:00more live
46:01championship football
46:02it's Paddock Thistle
46:03again at Morton
46:04that's at 7.30
46:05and then the two
46:06sports scene highlights
46:06programmes
46:07Saturday at 10.20
46:09Sunday at 7.15
46:12it's been quite a weekend
46:14of Scottish Cup action
46:15hasn't it?
46:15From all of us
46:16bye for now
46:18I'm not a loved one
46:21I'm a straight up
46:22out of here
46:24say that it lies
46:26and lies
46:26but the guys
46:27have got a time for bed
46:29I love that
46:32get on this
46:34so tired
46:38And the thing you want is right in front of your eyes
46:43I'm trying to call on me
