00:02Welcome back to The Hemp Coven, or THC for short. If you're new here, I'm Scarlett and
00:08we are a group of magical cannabis enthusiasts of legal age using legal products. Our meeting
00:14videos are more informational and our ritual videos are demonstrations and explanations
00:19of various rituals, spells, and potions that correspond with things like moon phases and
00:25holidays. If you want to join The Hemp Coven, all you have to do is follow me here on Daily
00:31Motion and request to join our Reddit, which is linked in the description. If you prefer
00:39not smoking, that's fine. I recommend taking a few deep breaths or doing your favorite breathing
00:44exercise instead. In order to begin our meeting, we must first cast a circle. There are many
00:51ways to do this, but what I like to do for our videos is imagine a sphere around me, take
00:56a hit, and then imagine that sphere filling up with my smoke, cleansing and protecting me,
01:01and then we will move on to invite the entities that we want to join us.
01:20The spirit of cannabis, I invoke you. Hekate, goddess of witchcraft and liminal spaces, I invoke you.
01:27Erebus, god of darkness and shadow, I invoke you. Erebus, goddess of chaos and discord, I invoke you.
01:48For this week's meeting, I will be covering some introductory information about shadow work.
01:54Shadow work is working to heal and accept your shadow self. The shadow self is the part of you
02:00that is hidden away from the rest of the world. There are many reasons why these aspects of yourself
02:07are hidden, such as trauma and shame. In shadow work, you identify the shadow self, heal what needs
02:15healing, discard shame, and reclaim your shadow self. The term shadow self was actually
02:24created by Dr. Carl Jung. Your shadow self is not an alternate version of you or a separate
02:32personality. It is simply one part of the whole person that you are. In order to become more whole,
02:40you must accept and heal your shadow self. I'm going to take another tickety-took because this is the
02:45hemp coven.
03:00For some, shadow work requires working through trauma. Those of us that have been abused have a tendency to hide
03:08the aspects of ourselves that abusers would point out.
03:13If your trauma was not abuse, you may be hiding the part of yourself that was most affected by the
03:20trauma.
03:21You must work through your trauma to heal and reclaim your shadow self. If you can,
03:28I highly recommend working with a mental health professional as well as doing your shadow work.
03:36It's really hard to do this by yourself and it's really recommended that you seek professional help
03:44if you need it. Trauma can be torturous to bring up and heal, but it is necessary for you to
03:52move on and
03:52become a whole person. However, I can tell you from experience that sometimes you do need to let
03:59the version of yourself that went through the trauma die in order for you to blossom into the person that
04:06you truly are. But that's usually in more severe cases of abuse. As you go down your journey of shadow
04:16work, you will learn what can be healed and what needs to be let go. If you're lucky enough to
04:22not have
04:22trauma affecting your shadow self, you may still have to deal with shame. We live in a society where shame
04:29runs rampant and we need to get over that shame in order to accept and love ourselves.
04:36You may be ashamed of your body, feelings, preferences, or personality. First, you must identify
04:44your shame. Figure out where that shame comes from. Shame almost always has an external catalyst.
04:52The beauty and fashion industries have been known to shame bodies and preferences.
04:59Schools might shame kids who are abnormally smart or have learning difficulties.
05:05Peers might shame your style, body, hobbies, likes, dislikes, mannerisms, and more.
05:11Family might shame you for being a witch or child free or about a billion other irrelevant things.
05:18Your shame probably has many points of origin. You must identify them in order to break down
05:25why your shame exists and overcome it. Sometimes all you have to do is bring your guilty pleasures to light.
05:32Shadow work is very important work. It is required in order to become a complete person.
05:38You have to accept your shadow side and bring it out of the shadows to attain wholeness.
05:45It will take time and it can be quite painful, but it's definitely worth it. Be sure you're ready for
05:53an
05:53emotional roller coaster before you begin shadow work because it can get very intense. As I said earlier,
06:01please work with a mental health professional while going through your shadow work journey if you can.
06:08I also recommend getting a guided
06:11journal or a book on shadow work to help you steer you in the right direction during your journey.
06:18I've done a lot of shadow work throughout my life, mostly without knowing it, but I just got a guided
06:26journal.
06:28Here she is. I just got it, so I haven't really started it yet, but I am interested to see
06:37where this goes.
06:39And I haven't really done a lot of intentional shadow work, so this is going to be an interesting change
06:47for me.
06:47And I will definitely let you guys know how this goes probably within other videos or
06:57just in our private discord for patrons. That's all that I have for this meeting. So if you have any
07:05further questions or insights, please leave them in the comments and I'll answer them to the best of my
07:11abilities. Now, let's dissolve our circle and thank the entities that joined us.
