00:01And Matthew Doran is in northern Israel for us tonight.
00:05Matthew, what's the latest on Israel's new wave of strikes across the border into Lebanon?
00:12Tomorrow, good evening.
00:14We have seen a number of intense strikes happening in the last short while or so
00:18as the IDF issues warnings to people in Lebanon that it is about to come through
00:22and target Hezbollah sites, weapons strongholds and also officials that are present there.
00:29These are not just happening in the Lebanese capital Beirut around the Dahir area in the southern suburbs
00:34but we also saw a couple of hours ago a warning from the IDF for 16 different towns and villages
00:40in southern Lebanon there.
00:43This is clearly an intensification of this campaign from Israel in those areas
00:49but we do need to stress Israel has been hitting parts of Lebanon for the best part of a year
00:54now
00:54even though there has been a ceasefire in place between Israel and Hezbollah.
00:59Over the last short while we have also seen a build-up of Israeli military personnel and hardware
01:04along Israel's northern border off in the distance behind us there.
01:08That is after the announcement yesterday of a ground invasion authorised by the country's defence minister, Israel Katz.
01:15Israeli media is already speculating that even if the conflict with Iran peters off
01:19or is brought to a close by the United States,
01:21the conflict in Lebanon on that front could drag on for much longer tomorrow.
