A Gold Coast schoolgirl has died in a snowmobile accident in Japan. Eight-year-old Chloe Jeffries is the fourth Australian to die while holidaying in Japan this year.

00:018-year-old Chloe Jeffreys from the Gold Coast died while holidaying with her family in Hakuba,
00:08which is a popular resort town to the west of Tokyo.
00:11It's understood that Chloe was part of a snowmobile tour.
00:16When the snowmobile she and her mother were riding flipped, trapping her underneath.
00:21She was rushed to hospital but died as a result of her injuries.
00:24The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says they are providing consular support to the Jeffreys family
00:30and expressed their deepest condolences to them.
00:33We've also started to see tributes to Chloe starting to pour in, including from a local netball association on the
00:40Gold Coast,
00:41of which Chloe was a member.
00:43They expressed their shock and grief, saying that Chloe was a person who was beautiful in nature
00:49and brought joy to all those around her.
00:52Chloe is now the fourth person to die while holidaying in Japan in recent months.
00:58Her death comes after that of two fellow Queenslanders, Brooke Day and Ryland Probati,
01:03as well as that of Melburnian Michael Hurst, who died while skiing in Nisiko,
01:08which is on the North Island of Hokkaido.
