00:01The Rivals Hall at Heathrow Airport, that will be a welcome site for about 200 people
00:06that just got off the Virgin flight from Dubai.
00:09It was one of the few flights to get out of that region over the last 24 hours due to
00:14the ongoing conflict in Iran.
00:17Many of the people that were on board were relieved when it took off from the Dubai airport.
00:21We spoke to some of those people who were very happy to be back on British soil.
00:27It's felt weirdly safe, but also everyone's on edge.
00:31When the flight attendant said, I'd just like to announce that we've arrived at London Heathrow
00:36and the whole aeroplane, but it was scary, it was very surreal, that's the reality of it.
00:43But luckily, we managed to kind of shield the children from it.
00:46But yeah, essentially it wasn't the holiday that was planned.
00:49Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest in the world, but many of the flights coming from
00:53the Middle East.
00:54In fact, almost all of them have been cancelled.
00:56As a result, the British government is putting on about nine flights from the Middle East,
01:01one from Oman, about eight from the United Arab Emirates to aid the thousands of British
01:07citizens stranded there.
01:09It's chartering them alongside commercial airliners.
01:13The French and Netherlands government are doing the same, saying they're ready to help their
01:18citizens that are the most vulnerable.
01:21Now, the recent campaign in Iran has caused travel chaos.
01:27In fact, thousands of flights have been cancelled this week.
01:31We've spoken to people stranded in the Middle East region who say they're still unsure about
01:37when they can leave.
01:38But those repatriation flights have been planned.
01:41But as you can imagine, it's an enormous logistical exercise in a region that's becoming increasingly
01:47volatile.
