00:01There's been widespread soaking rain across a large part of southern and central New South
00:07Wales. Left puddles and full dams and producers across the region are celebrating because
00:14they've been experiencing dry conditions for many months. For some people it's the
00:18best rain they've seen in more than six months and we've heard reports of more than 100 millimetres
00:23in the far south-west of the state through to 145 millimetres on the southern slopes between
00:29Temora and Young. For producers it means that they can take a breather from carting water to fill
00:36empty dams and it also means that it will provide a little bit of a pasture growth which is really
00:41important because producers have been hand-feeding livestock and in some cases de-stocking or selling
00:48off livestock to manage their precious grass resources. It couldn't be considered drought-breaking
00:54though. More rain will be needed throughout the autumn to secure this year's winter cropping
00:59program but you can certainly say that the rain has lifted spirits and provided hope for
01:04farmers that we might see better times ahead.
