At least one person was killed and 26 others injured in a pile-up on the Kan-Etsu Expressway in Minakami, Gunma Prefecture, late Friday. Police reported the crash began with a collision between two lorries in snowy conditions, blocking lanes and causing more than 50 vehicles to collide as drivers struggled to brake on the slippery road.
