A 40-year-old man was found murdered inside his rented house at Manjunath Nagar, under the limits of Bagalagunte police station in Bengaluru. Police have arrested three persons, including a woman identified as Bindu alias Urvashi, in connection with the crime.

The deceased has been identified as Mohan Krishna Rao, a pigmy collector and small-time financier. The incident occurred on February 27, and the body was discovered after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the house.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) D L Nagesh, a murder case was registered after inspection of the spot confirmed that Rao had been stabbed to death.

Investigation revealed that Bindu, who was in a live-in relationship with Rao, had developed a close relationship with Vinay, a lorry driver from the same locality. The two allegedly decided to marry, but Rao opposed their relationship and reportedly forced Bindu to stay with him.

Police said that on the night of February 18, the accused made Rao consume alcohol. They then allegedly tied his hands and legs, gagged him, stabbed him multiple times with a knife, assaulted him with an iron rod, and suffocated him using a plastic cover.

Dhanush Gowda, a friend of Vinay who was reportedly facing financial losses in his hotel business, was allegedly lured with money to assist in the murder.

After committing the crime, the trio fled. Police traced Bindu and Vinay to K.R. Nagar using call detail records, despite Bindu allegedly using multiple SIM cards. All three have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

Police stated that Rao and Bindu had rented the house two to three months ago, posing as a married couple. Both were earlier married and living separately from their respective spouses.

Bindu has claimed to have acted in a few Kannada films and to have worked as an associate director, but police said these claims are yet to be verified.
