In Medipally police station limits of the Rachakonda Commissionerate, a woman (36) allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her lover and another accomplice, initially attempting to pass it off as a heart attack.

The deceased, V.K. Ashok (45), was a resident of Brindavan Colony, Boduppal, and worked at a private college. He lived with his wife Poornima and their son (11). Poornima supplemented the family income by giving tuition to children at home.

Police said Poornima had developed an extramarital relationship with Paleti Mahesh (22), a resident of the same colony. Ashok had reportedly warned her several times after learning about the affair. Believing that her husband was an obstacle to the relationship, Poornima allegedly conspired with Mahesh and his friend Bhukya Sai Kumar (22) to eliminate him.

On the evening of Dec11, around 6:15 PM, when Ashok returned home from work, Mahesh and Sai allegedly caught hold of him while Poornima held his legs. The trio strangled him using a saree and a chain, killing him on the spot. After the murder, they changed the victim’s clothes, removed blood-stained items, and attempted to destroy evidence.

The next day, Poornima lodged a complaint stating that Ashok was found unconscious in the bathroom and had died of a heart attack at the Malkajgiri Government Hospital. Initially, police registered a general case. However, Ashok’s family members raised suspicions against Poornima.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Ashok had been strangled to death, with injuries on his cheek and neck and broken teeth. CCTV footage and technical evidence further strengthened the case. During interrogation, Poornima, Mahesh, and Sai confessed to the crime.

Police arrested all three accused and seized blood-stained chains, clothes, a pen drive containing photos and videos related to the murder, an iPhone-15, and a bike. The case has been altered from Section 194 BNS to Sections 103(1) and 238 read with 3(5) of the BNS, and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

Medipally police stated that the case is being strengthened with scientific and forensic evidence as further investigation continues.
