00:03:09today we're gonna talk about tonight's game tomorrow's game we'll talk future bets everything else

00:03:28it would have the opposite effect so we'll just uh we'll save that for a later date but i still love

00:03:32the nfl people think i'm crazy because i don't have a favorite team i actually think it's the only

00:03:36sports league i follow where i don't have a favorite team and i enjoy the experience so much more for it

00:03:40it is so much better to just go in blindly you the the season unfolds you start to fall in love

00:03:46with certain players you fall out of love with players you used to love um and and it's a it's

00:03:50a great way to consume sports i love it i can't recommend it enough uh but i what i love about the

00:03:54nfl the most is it pedals hope better than anybody in any league any maybe even any organization did you

00:04:02see the athletic poll that the the athletic put out they they pulled every fan base they said

00:04:07how optimistic are you for this season there were i think 11 fan bases that scored 90 percent or

00:04:13higher on optimism i love that i love that and there were only like six that were less than 50

00:04:18percent yeah there was only six yeah so like on on this day today every nfl fan base is like we have

00:04:25a chance they're basically five teams five or six teams that are like we we definitely don't have a

00:04:29chance there are five or six teams that are like we expect to win the super bowl and then there's a

00:04:34whole bunch in the middle they're like let's just see what happens man this is fun isn't it hope too

00:04:38they're like arch manning yeah yeah i mean that's what that's what the saints are at yeah saints are

00:04:43at plus 50 000 to win the super i might have to sprinkle a bit on that you never care what's

00:05:59excited that opening day is here there's too many games nfl like people genuinely are are like i i

00:06:05think we've got a chance this year and they might be right on paper the steelers are yeah on paper on

00:06:10paper on paper on paper very good they're very good right very good on paper but jerry are you like

00:06:16compared to last season when you were sussy for rusty this year with rogy i know you're excited

00:06:20are you more excited about erin rogers this year than you were about rusty last year i will say

00:06:24this on the record um on the record guys every year i say we're gonna make a run yeah deep down

00:06:33most years there's a part of me that says it ain't it this year is so different i never experienced a

00:06:40year besides the a b years like this what what are the what are the signs out of camp with erin rogers

00:07:55they just don't want to look turn away like they're going to turn away the opening act is a metallica

00:07:58concert they are they are they are kneeling they're they're doing the equivalent of they do not want

00:08:03to engage at all with last year they're on to this season did you see cd lamb said he's going to

00:08:08watch he is going to watch for motivation yeah for motivation so it's it's a little backwards

00:08:13the cowboys will have their entire team out there clapping for the eagles some guys like to watch

00:08:19it's not so bad in the corner sometimes uh it's that's that's a very weird move for the eagles

00:08:24i don't know why they would like you guys earned a banner i think i think they're saying they're

00:08:29going to be like inside the locker room at some point even though in my mind i would love nothing

00:08:33more than they're on the field yeah and they do because pft you are a master of pointing out

00:08:40performative nfl actions right yeah would this be the pinnacle if the entire eagles roster was to

00:08:46turn away from the unveiling of their own championship banner philadelphia is a city that's

00:08:50known for liberty right it's known for for the declaration of independence i actually don't know if that

00:08:55was written philly but it sounds like it was yeah yeah constitution the congress yeah yeah

00:10:49crazy we can't comprehend it when guys get like too much perspective to me that's that's a red flag

00:10:55yeah i i kind of need you to be a psycho yeah like when janice talks about uh if a season's a right

00:11:01appointment or a failure well i had great times with my friends we made it a long way yeah i got paid it

00:11:06was great the fans loved it that's a very healthy perspective to have but then i see tom brady and he's

00:11:12like i will ruin my life right to play one more season right mental health and greatness um

00:11:18are kind of inversely related they're at odds with one another that's right yeah and you want your

00:11:23favorite athletes to be happy but more importantly you want them to win yeah so i can be happy i need

00:11:29them to win um as far as the game itself goes i mean look at this spread i mean that's that's a big

00:11:37boy but does is there does anybody think the cowboys are going to win this yeah is there some

00:11:42sort of play here where uh micah parsons trade and then they're the laughing stock of of football

00:11:48right now that they they actually band together and i mean they for what it's worth like they have

00:11:54been practicing without parsons right like they've kind of yeah higher up to this point they've been

00:11:58operating as though micah parsons was not going to play for them so like they i could see it i could

00:12:03see it i mean um everybody just trashing jerry jones listen dallas's offense is pretty good i mean

00:12:10like they have star wide receivers not a bad offensive line run question that running back but

00:12:15man i mean eight and a half is a lot of points as our resident george pickens expert oh yeah how do

00:12:22we feel about cd and george teaming up with that listen eric eric knows me pretty well uh it hurts i mean

00:12:28it hurts a little bit for sure you know georgie was my guy um tough guy to tough guy to get behind

00:12:35because he's not like a super team guy um but i don't get behind a lot of guys but georgie was too

00:12:42much yeah i mean i'm i miss him a lot i would have loved to see him with dk i would have loved to see

00:12:48that but now he got cd lamb that's going to be dangerous i'll say in what way dangerous

00:12:52um a lot of points a lot of receptions a lot of yards you know i kind of agree i think i think

00:13:00at least for the first part of the season i think it's going to they're going to have a good offense

00:13:03oh yeah they will they're both great receivers and then my question is once one guy starts getting

00:13:08the lion's share the touchdowns or the catches yeah that's the george pickett experience yeah he's

00:13:13also in a contract here right now so he's going to be front and center is like listen i got to get

00:13:18paid this throw me the damn ball yeah which you kind of want from a receiver though i mean

00:13:22honestly and look the cowboys are going to throw it and i shot and i would say all he was by the

00:13:26way brian schottenheimer being the head coach of the alice cowboys is still completely odd like the

00:14:56football is back we had a preseason week zero week one today and then pft as you said sunday yeah you

00:15:05can say it's sunday morning i don't think you can say it on monday no but we got a full slate on

00:15:09sunday i actually think there's one more time you can say it when day after the pro bowl because we

00:15:15still got the super bowl oh because there's a little break there was a break the pro bowl is not

00:15:18football yeah we had to watch that and then we can be like okay thank god our national nightmare is

00:15:23over yeah football's back yeah dark week yeah dark week we could just say it every week honestly if

00:15:29you're that's true every thursday every thursday we're so back how long you can keep that enthusiasm

00:15:35never leaves uh okay so but uh speaking of which we talk about thursday night game coming up tomorrow

00:15:42night in brazil we got a little chiefs chargers man um patrick mahomes firmly in his sort of lebron

00:15:51chasing mj era trying to make his eighth afc championship in a row uh that would tie tom brady

00:15:59who made i think 2011 through 2018 uh but but but but before we get to uh the chiefs i actually want

00:16:07to start with the chargers a bit here okay they lose sean slater the left tackle that's absolutely

00:16:12brutal uh but as kb point out yesterday justin herbert may be the the ideal male a true adonis

00:16:20here amongst us and it feels like jim harbaugh has the chargers move the right what do we think are the

00:16:26chargers finally going to break through this year i mean i don't know it's gonna be tough i know

00:16:31slater he's an offensive lineman but he's about as impactful as a guy on the offensive line as you

00:16:35can get uh i want to see i don't want to doubt harbaugh yeah i don't want boy i especially don't want

00:16:40to doubt him in brazil because they got great steakhouses there he loves a good cut of red meat

00:16:43he's probably gonna be full energy protein focused god i i also think that he's the best in the nfl

00:16:51at managing the clock and by that i don't mean like in game i mean managing time zones i think

00:16:56he's got all figured out with like the sleep patterns yep he's got the guys like going to bed

00:17:00and sleep chambers uh like uh two days before he has like mandatory sleep sessions where he's like

00:17:07we used to do that sleep is the sleep before the sleep yep before you travel so he's got the boys on

00:17:12a schedule right now i think the sleep advantage is going to the chargers what is the time zone in

00:19:03now that we're on television i guess i'll do my part yes yes that this is the year the chiefs

00:19:09take a step back it has to happen last year they weren't good last year they weren't good

00:19:13they won 15 games they were 15 and they weren't good think about that at some point the luck has

00:19:20to run out right but uh i mean i don't mean that they're going to to win five games and miss the

00:19:25play i don't mean that would be funny uh but at some point they're going to not be the juggernaut

00:19:30they're going to take a step back and someone's going to step up in their play kelsey's not even

00:19:33that great anymore yeah they're not but you know what it is it just it's just it's all the stats

00:19:38about mahomes in the late game situation right yeah we've never seen anything like it uh the amount

00:19:44of times that he can just go get the game winning drive and that's what the nfl comes down to

00:19:48basically every game anyway um it was crazy why every single week last year it was like how are

00:20:03if they were wearing any other uniforms you'd be like this team isn't really all that great but

00:20:07and they have so many super bowl to win 15 games like they're always in the media they're always

00:20:11talked about whether it's kelsey or mahomes his dad or his brother you know what i mean so i mean

00:20:18there's so many distractions around them and they just block it out i mean i and i don't want to go

00:20:23too much of a side journey here but we officially give the title of football girl to taylor swift

00:20:32after going to a thursday night cincinnati nebraska game right i think like she loves ball she i think

00:20:38she just wanted to see dana holgerson up close and personal yeah i mean hey i want to see what a real

00:20:42man looks like what a dana's down there locked in laser focused i heard little birdie told me

00:20:47that one of her favorite players is actually jaden daniels there you go early last year she was

00:20:54watching a lot of a lot of commanders who was the bird it was actually a big it was a big bird okay

00:21:33my entire life boys when it comes to 2025 where are you placing your mvp bets i want to say lamar

00:21:51looking at more of a long shot situation that's more exciting more you don't want to it's more

00:49:00the philadelphia eagles and then i actually have coming out of the afc i think it is the buffalo

00:49:05bills i'm enamored with the idea of coaches that can't get over the hump can't get it done

00:49:09i think sean mcdermott is that for a lot of people he's he's supposed to be a defensive i have

00:49:13that right he's a defensive minded guy that's what they say but yeah time and time again his defense is

00:49:18what lets him down i think he is considered a bozo and he is kind of the reason the bills have

00:49:23not been able to get over the hump even though josh allen is like this other world talent

00:49:26but i think that that is kind of the theme of how sports work last year we saw that at both levels

00:49:31of football in november ohio state fans wanted to fire ryan day yeah and eagles fans wanted to

00:49:37fire nick sirian both of those both of those coaches then go on to get over the hump i i'm a fan

00:49:42of coaches that are thought of as as bozos who then finally get their moment in the sun i think

00:49:48the bills uh the defense is is it's now or never for the defense i think josh allen's playing the

00:49:53best football's life so i think bills over eagles but like you too i think that's the thing that i

00:49:57kind of want to see the mafia the mafia deserves it yeah they they they deserve it big t what we got

00:51:08in similar situations in terms of being really dominant not getting to the playoffs thing is

00:51:14allen's been incredible in the playoffs lamar took a step forward though last year vandrews catches that

00:51:24lamar in his career is 70 and 24 as a starter you know insane that is in the nfl it's pretty good i mean

00:51:32on average he's winning about 13 games in a 17 games because the ravens are four and nine without

00:51:38him should have been mvp last year is unbelievable so i think lamar breaks through and then out of the

01:01:36playing again in starkville on uh on saturday and coach listen i saw your comments uh about

01:01:42starkville and you're not being able to find a hotel and not being able to stay within an hour and

01:01:4615 of campus and that that's not true coach you got a bad talent you got a bad booker over there

01:01:51what's what's going on uh i agree with you uh you know i wish i could disagree uh there's tons of

01:01:58hotels in starkville uh when we we call people to ask where they stay so the context of the question

01:02:04was asked was when you stay in different towns it was about your big travel party and not all the

01:02:10hotels that we could stay at were available because they're booked out because your fan base is really

01:03:26love the most about it is how fired up you and your fan base got over me not even taking a shot

01:03:32over me just it was kind of a shot though it wasn't though he's kind of dominating it was just a

01:03:39lack of me communicating fully why we were staying where we were staying which i don't want people to

01:03:44know where we're staying we're not going to tell you our hotel well here's the thing here's the thing

01:03:49and and i'm going to defend my fan base and and no no i'm going to defend myself because i did overreact

01:03:54like an idiot but when you're in starkville when you're in small town mississippi uh people take shots

01:03:59of your small town all the time yeah take shots at starkville they want to paint this picture that

01:04:03starkville is not great starkville is a great place a great college town with great restaurants

01:04:07and great hotels and great people and everything so yeah are we a little uber sensitive when people

01:04:12take or when people say things oh you can't stay at a hotel you know an hour and 15 minutes away

01:05:45two on defense both number twos on the on the football team are really really good football players

01:05:50the d-line and o-line are vastly improved they're gigantic on both sides of the ball i mean when

01:05:55you watch their football team it's it's a good football team it's year two and you can see it so

01:06:00this is a i mean tough challenge for us and there's gonna be a lot of cowbell yeah and because you've

01:06:05stirred the pot there's gonna be more cowbell yeah yeah i didn't stir the pot

01:07:12are going to be fired up and it's going to be a lot of great atmosphere so what i learned is you

01:08:06complacent last week so our football team's filled with guys i mean i can say that is you know the

01:08:29right then you have antonio gibson when i was at memphis from mississippi players guys in state

01:08:33right all great pair all great players kenny gainwell who we signed at memphis from mississippi

01:08:39i'm a believer in the mississippi running back so we got the mississippi running back in our squad

01:08:44uh so i like our football team i'm excited to go see us play in this environment last year we lost

01:08:49our first power five road game so uh we lost texas tech power five road game we got to play better in

01:08:55our first power five road game uh this year have you scripted your first 15 plays and can you tell

01:09:00me what they're gonna be yeah yeah i have and uh they're gonna be at some random coffee shop in

01:09:07starkville so if you go to starkville and get a coffee right you may be able to find them wait didn't

01:09:12didn't mike leach do that one time he dropped a fake opening drive script that's right to plant bad

01:09:19intel i mean coach that's genius dude you got to do that yeah 14 of the coffee shops will have the fake

01:09:24script one of the coffee shops will have the real script well i like that they have that sounds

01:09:29awesome 14 coffee shops yes we have starkville's a metropolis that's a tiny town there's no way they

01:09:37have that many coffee shops there's so many coffee shops there's coffee shops are plenty uh i got tired

01:09:42of coffee in one and every coach you you you so you mentioned not being happy with the week one

01:09:47performance right it's been somehow always very intrigued to see as a head coach what it's like

01:09:53when you're coming off of such a great year win the big 12 championship i mean texas the absolute

01:09:59wire uh how how tough was it to keep guys motivated because i love that y'all did camp in the woods i

01:10:04saw you getting after their ass like if y'all want to suck this is how you're going to do it what's

01:10:09it been like trying to keep the guys motivated this year before yeah it's challenging

01:10:14uh it's challenging uh but uh that i think that's the best part about coaching is you've got to get

01:10:24over the hump you know so many times in programs they have a good year and it's real there's a

01:10:29reason a lot of programs can't get over the hump it's because it's hard to have everybody tell you

01:10:35how good you are and continue to work at the level that you have to work and usually when teams get over

01:10:40the hump they stay over the hump right but it's hard to get over that hump of two and three years

01:10:46uh of success because that first year everybody's telling you how good you are it's so hard to stay

01:10:52focused on the task at hand so i think our guys have done a great job of it you know i challenged

01:10:56our guys after week one to increase their workloads in practice you know with all the technology we have

01:11:01because the game was actually harder than practice so i showed them a chart and i said hey our practices

01:11:07need to have a higher workload than a game we've increased our work by about 10 this week so uh

01:11:12you know like i tell them what you pour in is what you get to pour out and anybody who tells you

01:11:16otherwise is just lying to you is it possible guys in this room that i i love with them yeah is it

01:11:22possible i overreacted to the yeah i have yeah yeah this is not yeah you came in prepared to yell about

01:11:28hotels and cowbells i was ready to yell about hotels i had a lot of hotel and also you were worked

01:11:32up about the lack of respect for the cowbell correct he kind of gave me a lot of respect for

01:11:36the cowbell as well i hate to have all those hotel facts go unused well a lot there's there's what would

01:12:50who absolutely love football who are about the smoke who want to be about the smoke right who

01:12:57want to play a tough nose a tough edge type of game so uh 100 you know one of the the blessing every

01:13:04blessing is a curse right so you know the blessing of living here is what you just said the curse is

01:13:09it can great complacency and uh we've got to be able to fight through that with how we coach

01:13:14fight through that with the guys we recruit and the leaders oh my god dude i love kenny dillingham
