00:00My name is Tanmay Kaushal and I belong to Chandigarh and I have a past experience of two years as
00:06a creative brand strategist at IOTA Creative Agency which is a creative agency based in Chandigarh and then I did
00:12my internship at the Delhi Folk which is again a creative marketing agency that is set up in Delhi and
00:17now I have been placed in Aditya Bhilda capital.
00:20So one thing that I realized that the work that I was doing it was getting a little monotonous like
00:26after one and a half years I was doing the same thing every day that I like really enjoyed but
00:31that was I think peak saturation time for me and then I decided that I should go and pursue and
00:37I take this knowledge and I get some guidance which is like professional so that is how I decided to
00:44come and do EGDML.
00:45So I scored 215 in my NMAT so I searched what will colleges accept people with this grade so then
00:54I went in and researched about all those colleges and Soil was one of them and then I came across
01:01all the experiential activities that they do like the entire university works on this principle of you know kindness and
01:09empathizing and they have this design thinking so that like really appealed me at that point of time.
01:15So that is why it was like my very first preference.
01:18So like from school time only I was not a very studious type of kid. I was always an average
01:25scorer but I always had my front foot forward in all the co-curricular activities.
01:30So when I joined Soil so like my very first approach was to get into the student council so I
01:40was the president of marketing club so I think that opened so many doors for me because then I had
01:46to talk to vendors for the fests and we had to make all those marketing decks and the pitches going
01:53to pitch clients for the sponsorships.
01:56I think that total experience I have learned so much from that experience then we have this social innovation program
02:02when you know group of students are assigned to various NGOs and then we have to go work with them.
02:09I got really humbled during that experience you know seeing the ground reality and I think this entire experience adds
02:16on to the personality and then there was this drop shipping program where we had like many difficulties while talking
02:23to the vendors some of them sent us defected material so we had to get that change.
02:29So going to the markets in Delhi and getting that first hand experience of trading and everything I think that
02:36is something that I really appreciate and I am glad that I have been a part of all these activities
02:44because I know deep down that they all have contributed a lot in my personality.
02:49As I told that I was the president of marketing club so a lot of my work was related to
02:54you know keeping the team together and assigning work and also helping them out with everything.
03:01So a lot of my work was to work on canva a lot so it required me to make ppt's
03:06the pitch decks and the event posters the flyers that we used to circulate everything that was printed and you
03:12know pasted on the boards and everything.
03:14So my job was to look to make look everything aesthetic that was being produced by the club and I
03:21think that is also one part that I have contributed in my academic side as well.
03:26All the bpt's that were you know presented in the class of my group it was my duty to make
03:32them look aesthetically pleasing and all my other teammates used to give me the content and I used to just
03:40make it look beautiful and presentable in the class.
03:42So I got placed at the Delhi folk it is a creative marketing agency based in Delhi.
03:47So a lot of their work they like they specialize in creative and visual storytelling that brands lack a lot
03:54today.
03:55So my job was to you know make content calendars make Instagram stories that were engagement based so that we
04:05can increase the engagement rate of the brand or the personal brands that we were working on.
04:09A lot of my work was on the brand strategy and content curation part.
04:14I was responsible to make reels from the stock videos that we used to get and you know align them
04:19with the trends and use viral videos and then use SEO strategies to push that content further.
04:27So a lot of my work was towards building brands and during this time I worked with brands like Sleepy
04:35Owl, Bombay Shaving and a lot more personal brands.
04:40So at every step there is like one trait or one lesson that you all learn.
04:46So during the time of NGO it was more of a humbling experience being grateful for whatever you have.
04:53And then during the drop shipping there your communication skills matter a lot while talking to the vendors.
04:59And then during the time of events you have to work with the people who are you know very hard
05:06to work with.
05:07For example the people who set up all the tents and everything.
05:10So at that point of time you gain leadership skills while getting the work done.
05:14So I think at every step and every activity has its own offering and that all contributes to your collective
05:21personality.
05:22And I think I have embedded those in my real life also and it has worked for me.
05:28So the placement journey from the day one has been like a very bittersweet roller coaster type.
05:33Because initially I was not getting shortlisted but I think you need to wait some time for good things to
05:39happen.
05:40So I believed in God's plan and then I got placed in Aditya Builder Capital as a management trainee.
05:47And I had a work ex of 2 years before pursuing my PGDM.
05:52And after pursuing the PGDM the hike that I have got is like very great and big for me.
05:59So now I have been placed at 20 LPA at Aditya Builder Capital as a management trainee.
06:05I think every company looks for the right fit and right set of qualities and experience for the person that
06:12they are going to choose.
06:14So what initially helped me was my experience that was totally in the marketing and brand building domain.
06:20So my a lot of they identified that this person is good at project management like he has done following
06:28things which include project management,
06:30working on marketing campaigns, then reporting and making it like ensuring the KPIs are being followed and dragged.
06:37So all of this contributes a lot and the traits that you gain like during the entire experience of your
06:46work.
06:47Like for example it could be you know being very talkative or extrovert or good at networking or having very
06:54good links.
06:55So all of this contributes a lot and I think they saw that all that was mentioned in their JD.
07:02I had that in my CV so and my personality.
07:06So that is why I think I was the right fit for it.
07:09I think today's marketing is a lot on the creative side because you see every brand that has a very
07:16creative inclination nowadays.
07:17So I think having a creative inclination and staying up to date with what all is going on with all
07:24the viral brands.
07:26You need to keep studying about them and you have to like keep reading case studies about what how new
07:33brands are getting viral.
07:34And you know keeping a track of what all strategies are working nowadays and whatnot.
07:38And I think the person who is looking forward to going into marketing should be very intro not introverted should
07:47be very extroverted.
07:48Like people should know how to make their way through talking.
07:52Like it is a lot when you like it matters a lot when you go to pitch a client for
07:58you know selling your services or everything.
08:00All of that communication skills matter a lot in marketing.
08:03I think all of these things.
