00:00Hi, I'm Isha Ratela, currently pursuing my PGDM at Soil.
00:04Welcome to our new series titled, My Journey to an Offer.
00:08Here we will be covering stories with students talking about their PPOs, internships, as well as placements.
00:15Hi, good afternoon. Today we have my senior Jyoti with us.
00:19She will be walking us through her PPO journey.
00:21Good afternoon, Jyoti. How are you?
00:23Hi, Isha. I'm absolutely kind.
00:25Great, Jyoti. So it's lovely to hear about your PPO conversion.
00:30So let's go back a little to the drawing board and know you better, who Jyoti is.
00:35Could you just walk us through your journey, the professional journey, academic background?
00:40Sure. So my name is Jyoti Prasad. I'm currently a person in PGDM at Soil.
00:46And I'm majoring in operations and analytics.
00:48Prior to Soil, I have four years of work experience in IT as a QA.
00:53That experience gave me a strong technical foundation, but I wanted to deepen my business strategy and analytics skills.
01:01Hence, I chose to pursue MBA and I chose Soil.
01:04Lovely.
01:05Yeah.
01:06All right. So how has the journey been for you so far?
01:10And then you can definitely tie this up and tell us a little about the company you interned for.
01:15So the journey has been a great learning experience and talking about my internship.
01:21So I got placed in Tech Mahindra in their pre-sales and solution design team.
01:26And it was not only a great learning experience, but it was also very, very full of gratitude because it converted into a free placement opportunity.
01:35What were the kind of challenges?
01:36Before, you know, hearing, I can definitely see it has been a good experience for you.
01:41But as an intern, everybody has a few hiccups, right?
01:44Take us through the challenges.
01:46So firstly, talking about my role at Tech Mahindra.
01:49Yeah.
01:49I was into the solution design and the proposal team wherein I had to create the RFPs.
01:55That is the response for proposals for global clients.
01:58So it was both a learning experience yet rewarding, but I would say there were challenges because I had to create proposals that were fully detailed, yet they could not look clumsy.
02:11They had to be clear, concise and still showcasing every detail of it.
02:17So that was one of the challenges because when I started working, I used to prepare proposals that were technical because I used to come from a technical background.
02:26I couldn't relate to it, but I, as in when I got the feedback from my mentors that it has to be concise and not too much technical.
02:34I upskilled myself in creating such proposals, which were concise, clear and crisp.
02:41All right.
02:41That's amazing, right?
02:43All that MBA learnings coming into play.
02:46So at what point during your internship with Tech Mahindra, did you realize that this could convert into a PPO?
02:53So during the end of my internship, I could sense that a PPO is coming my way.
03:00This is because I was getting involved in critical tasks and I became face of multiple meetings that were very crucial for the project.
03:08So that showed me that my hard work was creating a real impact on the project and I could sense that something good is happening now.
03:16Amazing, amazing, right?
03:19And any key learnings that you could give us, you know, because that's the incoming batch, right?
03:26We would love to hear from your journey.
03:29Definitely.
03:30So the key learning would be always be proactive and take feedbacks as your first and utmost priority.
03:37Because whenever you get any suggestion and you implement it, you get into the process of continuous learning.
03:44So that is really important.
03:45And whenever you get an internship, consider that as a two-month-long interview process where you have to show the company that you're willing to learn and you're willing to upskill yourself.
03:55You're not rigid.
03:56You're quite adaptable because that is what companies really notice when you make their lives easier by adapting to their culture and their policies.
04:05So is it like fair to assume that you were like 100% present for the two months that you were interning?
04:11Yes, more than that.
04:12More than that.
04:13How did, you know, we talked a little about the concise presentations, but don't talk us about how did you implement or how was Soil's journey helpful with this internship?
04:27So Soil, it played a very crucial role in my internship journey.
04:31Before joining the internship, I had that in my mind because the culture and the learning plan that Soil has through its live case studies, group projects, and the practical learning exposure that Soil gives, it already had created a very strong mindset in me, wherein I could relate both the business and the technical aspect of any given problem statement.
04:56So that made me feel an edge during my internship.
05:00Lovely.
05:01And was it also a campus recruitment?
05:03Yes, I was placed on campus.
05:05This is a good news for all of us.
05:07Thank you, Jyoti.
05:08This was an amazing session.
05:10Some, you know, crucial insights we could draw out from your experience.
05:15And we are looking forward to more such wonderful stories as in when the placement season comes in, right?
05:21All the best.
05:22Thank you so much.
