00:02Between myself and my brother and my son Luke, we've got over 500 cattle here today.
00:08Pretty big job, one of the driest winters on record, but he ran out of hay.
00:15We finished up getting B double loads of hay down from Queensland just to keep them survived.
00:22Weaned a lot of calves early, it was unusual.
00:27But we're looking forward to the Lays market.
00:29It's always a good sale.
00:32And Luke, how are you feeling about the cattle market today?
00:35Is it about the prices?
00:37Yeah, I think the prices today should be really good.
00:40They've been good all the way through, right through the weaner sales down in the Western District.
00:44And now with a bit of rain around, I think it'll make it even better today.
00:48Ideally, what sort of price range are you hoping for?
00:51Oh, well, look, it's hard to say, but you'd hope the steers, the weaner steers make $1,500 or more.
00:59And the heifers, maybe $1,200 or $1,300.
01:03How do you guys sold them back in November? How did they go for you and what was behind the
01:08decision to sell?
01:09Well, we had lightened off one property. We were going to wean them and put them, but anyway, we sold
01:14them.
01:15I think they averaged about $1,250 at a time, about $4.40, I think, a kilo back then.
01:22But anyway, so we kept the rest to this sale.
01:27Fantastic. Well, good luck to you.
