00:00A lot of weight here, but it's very hard to buy in anything under 300 kilos, and plenty of cattle
00:04between 380 and 500 kilos, with you up to even over the 600s.
00:08But people are probably moving them because the dollar value with a lot of the cattle, including heffers, all in
00:13the $5 to $5.80 a kilo.
00:15If you end up finishing them and you're getting back into the mid-fours for those finished cattle, you're getting
00:21nearly as much for them now within $200 to $300 of what they're going to be worth finished.
00:25So I think people, the cash flow and the like, are moving about now a little bit earlier and taking
00:29the money.
00:29I was expecting myself that a lot of those heaviest steers would be in that sort of $480 to $5
00:33bracket, and those 460 to 550, 60 kilo steers were sort of all sitting around nearly the $5 to $5
00:41.30.
00:41So that was definitely stronger than what we expected, and the feeders are buying them.
00:45There's a few lighter cattle here today that were under the 310 or 20 kilo, and they were very, very
00:50keen, because they were only a small part of the sale.
00:52People might have come with a dollar value, and they weren't the numbers here, but you saw some of those
00:57lighter calves and cattle that were in that 220 to 260 kilo bracket, all cracking over $6 and up to
01:03$6.70 for steers.
01:05And even heffers made a little bit more.
01:06They were up to $6.80, so that was pretty good.
01:09But a lot are going into feedlots because it was a heavier yarding, so a lot of them are going
01:13into feedlots.
01:14But there are still a fair bit of local demand.
01:17We're on the edge of spring now.
01:18You know, people are still just a little bit tight because of the wet, and growth's been a bit slow,
01:22but I think we're just about to see it boom, and people are saying, right, we'll put them out now,
01:26and we'll have the growth for the next four months.
