00:00Hi, I'm Olivia Lawson from Central Victoria and I've been nominated in the Women in Agriculture
00:06category of the Australian Agriculture Awards. I've always loved agriculture. For me, it's
00:12essentially about producing quality food and fibre, but also about looking after the land
00:17that makes it all possible. For more than 20 years, I've been part of a cattle seedstock
00:21business with my family in Central Victoria. At Poringa, we focus on breeding efficient,
00:27productive and functional cattle genetics designed for the future profitability of beef producers
00:32across Australia. That work has really shaped the way I think about farming and agriculture.
00:39It's helped deepen my interest in agro-ecology, holistic grazing and sustainable land management
00:46and in practical changes that can make a real difference on the ground. Part of our passion
00:52has been bringing people together and hosting field days on farm to learn from other farmers
01:00but also bring experts in on the topics of sustainable grazing and genetics.
01:07Over the years, I've also been fortunate to contribute as a producer voice on national and global cattle
01:13boards and I've been fortunate to spend time in advisory and policy roles across sustainability,
01:20animal welfare, environment, finance and risk. Today, I'm proud to continue that work,
01:27serving as the Chair of Soils for Life and Deputy Chair of the North Central Catchment Management
01:32Authority, while I'm a member of the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework Steering Group.
01:38At the heart of it all, I believe productive agriculture and environmental stewardship can go hand
01:44hand in hand. And when we get that balance right, we create better outcomes for our farms,
01:49our communities and the generations coming after us.
