00:00Hi, I'm Marnie Lewis. I'm a farmer from Morella in southwest Victoria where my family and I run a
00:05merino sheep enterprise alongside our pasture-raised egg business. I'm incredibly honoured to be
00:10nominated for this year's Victorian Women in Agriculture Awards. My journey in ag began about
00:1613 years ago when I met my now husband Rick. I didn't grow up on a farm so farming and
00:22farm life
00:22was a complete new world to me. Over the years I've learned a lot but more importantly I've found a
00:28real passion and love for the ag industry. Most recently my husband and I have embraced the
00:34opportunity to step outside our comfort zone and grow our business and take on new challenges.
00:40We've expanded from our marina enterprise into pasture-raised egg production which has
00:46been a huge learning curve but also incredibly rewarding. I'm passionate about showing there's
00:51a place for women in every part of ag whether that's out in the paddock, driving machinery,
00:57making business decisions or building a complete new enterprise. I've certainly had my challenges
01:02along the way but they've made me more determined to back myself, have a voice and encourage other
01:08women to do the same. I'm incredibly proud of what we're building and I hope that by sharing
01:14my journey I can encourage other women to do the same.
