00:00Hi, I'm Andrew Terry, Managing Director of Tasmanian Berries.
00:04I'm a finalist in the Tasmanian-Victorian Sustainability and Agriculture category within the Australian Agriculture Awards.
00:11I started the business Tasmanian Berries in 2014 with my wife,
00:15and we have since expanded the business to three farms in northern Tasmania and a fourth farm in Queensland.
00:22We produce about 105 hectares of fresh market berries and associated nursery stock to supply our own business.
00:30We supply the Australian domestic market and international markets.
00:35By controlling our own nursery stock, we're able to participate in the market for 52 weeks of the year.
00:41This allows us to be at all the different price points throughout that 52-week supply.
00:47We also employ around 700 workers through our peak periods.
00:53Many of these guys come from the Pacific Islands, utilising the Palm Scheme,
00:58and having the ability to have that 52-week supply.
01:02We have consistent contracts to give to the workers through the Tasmanian farms and the Queensland business.
01:09I guess we're always striving for a sustainable way to keep the business operating,
01:14but always looking for efficiencies and ways we can do things better.
